Who here has the oldest daily driver PC?
What's the limit 80s,90s?
For daily use. I would say the limit is 2010, before that it is difficult to use unless it is for a specific function.
That I can use on a daily basis, I have a MSI GE 65 from 2012, 2.3 GHz pentium 7 (3rd generation) with an Nvidia 660m, I have it with Ubuntu and it responds well to perform daily tasks today (upgrade RAM and change HDD for a SSD). Unfortunately it has started to give problems, it turns off randomly and I suspect it is the motherboard, so it does not have much useful life left.
I have an Acer C100 with Windows XP tablet edition, I think it used a Pentium III mobile. The computer is from 2005 or so and due to the OS and limited hardware, it cannot be used today.Non PC, I still have and use a "palm zire" as a graphic calculator, which must be from the early 2000s.
Not quite my daily driver, but when I go to Amiga events I take my 2008 white MacBook with me that's running Linux Mint. It's useful for downloading Amiga disk images onto and then transferring them over to the Amiga. I do occasionally use it for daily tasks if I don't want to sit at my desk. It's not speedy, but gets the job done.
That's awesome I have that same style MacBook but it's the mid 2009 (last pre unibody) with the NVIDIA graphics not the X3100 Intel. I use it as my main computer. I created every single game I've made on itch.io was created on it. I'm currently using it on and off for a course I'm doing via correspondence. Has windows 7 and Mac os 10.11.
I had a G4 PowerBook and Early 06 Intel core duo iMac before this and prior to that a G5 iMac.
