How much attention did you get with your game without marketing?

We all know at this point the importance of marketing your own game, and how mountains of games fall because of this. But, what about the games published here with nothing or barely nothing or marketing, and being able to get a decent amount traction? Do you know any cases like this, or it happened to you?

A lot more if it's connected to a popular jam.

It's hard to say cause I did small marketing on my games. So I couldn't say if people who pay attention to my games were coming from that marketing or from other source. Though according to analytics here some people found my games by browsing the engine I'm using. Most views of my games are from google though.

As for games published here with no marketing, well they will be buried under newer games for sure. IOW unless people were looking for the former, it would be hard for people to even know they exists.

I mean, aslong as you tag your stuff correctly itch.io more or less markets your games for ya, atleast that's how i got most of my plays and views, simply through peeps searching certain tags, :o

It's a gradual process. I stream development a lot on Discord, and I recently started a Discord server that I regularly post in. My game is still pretty far from being finished, but consistently posting updates and engaging with other people has helped build a small fanbase that grows over time.
