Apocryphauna is, at the time of publishing, one of my more ambitious and technically complex games. There are little bugs here and there. Generally, entering the inventory with ESC will fix most bugs, but if you run into something game breaking that is not fixable with ESC, please respond in this topic with as detailed a description of your bug as you can, screenshots are also appreciated.

We also have ambitions to add more content to the game, so feel free to follow for updates. In addition, when updates/bug fixes are implemented, you can automatically update the game via the itch.io client.

Edit 10/25/2022: Fixed a bunch of stuff. Hopefully this should fix all or the majority of issues that people have been experiencing recently!

After getting 13 cards, i then exited the girls dorm as a girl, then the game froze here; and no, pressing ESC did not work

Oh wow. I've never seen this one. I'll take a look and try and recreate this and include it with the next bit of bug fixes. Thank you!

I'm stuck in the basement after dropping off the balls. I get "open the door?" and pressing E does nothing.

Developer

think if you leave an area mid prompt without hitting the interact key, sometimes it’ll cause that. Just a theory. I’ll look into it later today and a patch will be upcoming. Thank you!

Hi, I'm not able to get back out of the basement. A prompt does appear when I approach the door to the stairwell, but nothing happens when I try to interact with it.  At one point Jay's dialogue box did pop back up when I was standing at the door trying to use it.

The first time through I had 16 cards, but I've tried going through again without picking up any cards, and with choosing all three of the gender options at the beginning - all had the same result. Even before dropping off the balls or interacting with anything else in the room, the door still doesn't seem to be working.

Sorry if there is meant to be an alternate exit to this room that I'm missing!

Developer

It might be similar to what other people have been experiencing, if you leave an interaction, sometimes it can glitch out. It's supposed to lock the character so you can't do it, but sometimes that function breaks. I'll have to look into this. Thank you!

Hi, I put off looking into the mirror for a little bit after getting the prompt, and got stuck when I finally did. I don't know exactly how many cards I have because ESC isn't helping, but I had just gone through the red corridor with the destroyed card and collected the card from the glitch in the stairwell if that helps place it. I got the dialogue about the inverted tarot cards before it froze on this screen.

Developer

oh, huh. Lemme look at this. Did you try pressing E or pausing the game at all? Thank you!

Same thing happened to me now lol. I downloaded the bugfix... and made it to restroom and looked in the mirror, and now im stuck. Escape and E doesn't fix it unfortunately.

I am suffering from the same problem, talked to the "glitch god card", he told me to find a mirror and then I am stuck in it

Maybe I'm like, doing something wrong? When I start the game, after the introduction with the nun, I just get a black screen and music. I can move around and open the inventory and even interact with characters but I can't see anything.

Edit: tried running it from the desktop and that still didn't fix anything.

Developer

have you tried running it as administrator? Also you could try running it in windowed mode with alt+enter

Thanks for getting back to me, apologies for the late reply, I tried both of those and still no change. For what it's worth, I'm running on Windows 10, x64 OS, 8gb RAM. Also tried running the game from the desktop and an external hard drive, no dice. RIP.
