Can I anounce a release date for an update here on itch? Or can it only be a finished update?

Hello itch! I'm currently working on an update for my game and I intend to release some time next month. Am I aloud to announce a launch date for the update or do I have to wait until it's completed before I announce it? Obviously, for marketing and promotion reasons, I'd like to build up an audience before I launch, and then continue to work on my game after it's updated. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Its your game so you can announce, post, publish whenever you wish in whatever state it's in.

I decided to release my current project way early. Mainly because I really do not know how many people would be interested and it gives me a chance to get used to publicizing my development activities.

I would like to build a following and apparently that takes lots and lots of time.

All the advice I've seen says that earlier is better.

That's the same advice I'm taking.  My game is currently playable and I'm working on it's 6th update. So I'll go ahead and start planning promotion for it.

If you're referring to if you're allowed to post in Release announcements, then you can post it there if you think it's appropriate time to announce the project. You must have an itch.io project page link though. Also, if you are posting the same project repeatedly then we may close your topics.

If you're only talking about creating an itch.io page for you upcoming project, feel free to do whatever you want.

Yes, I'd like to anounce it in Release announcements. My game is playable and currently at it's 5th update. The 6th update is planned to go up 1 month from now. As far as my game, I haven't posted anything about it in the Community Forums since I last updated it over two months ago.

You should be fine. I'm more referring to people who post try to post it once a week (or more!). Assuming you're pushing out a substantial update, feel free to post it again in the future.

Thanks a lot for clarifying that.
