I notice. there are definitely game engines out there that support the creation of gba games but I know for a fact it does not need to be as difficult as it is for me right now to find the easiest one out of all the bunch shown to me so far on my search for something actually easy to operate. I can't handle having to do everything with code and all this related gunk. I understand it can be a lot to compile these engines together but again, there has to be SOMETHING out there. please, anyone help. this would be great. i am thirsty and dying for an answer.

Learn the GameBoy’s hardware properly and write it in Assembly. That’s what people have been doing for years before these pop engines have appeared, and that will always remain the best option.

Don’t knock it before you try it; Assembly isn’t the demon that people are making it out to be, especially GameBoy Assembly, which is primitive.

Yeah, I can agree with you for sure. It's good to try out the works. I never, actually used assembly though.. I am fairly new to gamedev knowledge.. I will give this said "assembly" a shot then!

I take it you've tried GB Studio then? It seems popular, and easy enough to get started with, but maybe your experience was different.

Actually, coincidentally....as of right now I'm resorting to gb studio as my start to come from first. It just feels a lot easier for what I'm doing at the moment for a game. Just.. at the moment..

In general the more generic your engine the less performant it is. Given the lower processing power of GBA, it may be difficult to create a good game engine that can be used for a variety of game types. If you want to develop for older platforms you may have to do the work instead of reusing tools. I've been impressed with GB Studio but it is also pretty limited.
