Developer send me download code but i can't install it through the itch io app.

A developer sent me a download code with the option “unlock all files”. When i access that link through the browser and claim the game, i can download the premium version.

When i access the same link through itch.io app i also the the download options presented. However if i access the same download link in the itch app and click a download button, the premium version is not available to me in the install drop down.

The premium version is also not available via the install/download buttons on the game page in the itch.io app.

Is there anything i can do to install the premium version and get reliable auto updates for it that won’t switch me back to the free version?

Without knowing the game, I would say it is up to the developer to properly tag his downloads.

What do you mean by tagging properly? Can you point me to a resource about this?

The app will only let you download restricted content that is attached to your account. Based on the screenshot, it looks like the developer just generated a publicly accessible download URL for the game. Those are not compatible with the app. The developer will need to generate a key that can be claimed so you can attach it to your account, then the app will allow you to access the files.

I now bought it:

But i still can’t download it via the itch client. In the download pop up there is no option to download the premium version even though i paid 4$ + VAT. I created a separate thread for this issue.

If you’ve bought it and attached it to your account then it will show up in your library in the app and you can download it from there. It’s not necessary to navigate to the download page to access the files. Hope that helps

Thanks for the suggestion i tried both itch://library/ and itch://library/owned doing a right click on the game -> install and i’m not presented with an option for the premium variant in the drop down menu. A left click on the game leads me to game page where problem is the same.

https://itch.io/my-purchases and https://itch.io/my-collections just lead me to the payment confirmation page see below.

I could not figure it out using your instructions. If i did not try what you had in mind can you either be more detailed?

If there is any other information you need or some way i can assist please ask.

This problem is still unresolved. I really don’t want to have to do a charge back since the installation via the itch.io app doesn’t work. Is there something i can do to help get this resolved? Are there things i could try on my end?

I also installed the itch app on Windows, it doesn’t work there. What can i do to get automatic updates through the itch.io app for an app i paid for?
