With some polish, this could be a really promising concept for a puzzle game. Great work!

I like the animations and concept a lot, would really be interested in seeing the idea expanded upon

thank you so much for the feedback! I did notice these issues during development but didn’t spend the time playing with solutions (drop shadow, FOV change, etc) so I really appreciate the help. Also yeah, I did want to implement classic Bhop mechanics including the swerving (I may have been doing that stuff anyway while testing) but I didn’t want to increase the complexity any higher for people unfamiliar and landed on a simple and somewhat predictable way to increase speed. I would like to expand on the idea of bhopping being the intended method of traversal in a full-ish game though, since movement speed bugs in games have always been my favorites (ABH, BLJ, Bhop, etc). But yes the mechanics in general need some fine tuning and the simple single-color visuals probably don’t help with the depth perception issues

Great game and really good humor, but especially that art style. Very good work

Pretty fun, I think the dificulty curve could be a bit more steep since it's pretty easy to get to a point where you're ridiculously OP (not that getting there isn't fun though). I like the visual style too. If you expand on this in the future you could easily add in some enemy variety, maybe some that rush you from behind, etc. Maybe some variety in level geometry too to make evading more interesting. Really good starting point for something bigger though!

agreed, and had some ideas planned (such as occasional chips you can earn to change your wager or force a specific roll for yourself or your opponent) but cut them pretty late in the jam to focus on "polish" and presentation. also, love your game and rated it accordingly

one could clearly point out that the controls aren't as fluid as a more fleshed out 2D platformer. however i am a dog and i NEED to get that stick back so i can get a biscuit and that is all that truly matters. the sketchy art style plays really well with the controls, and it's really the highlight here. every drawing here got a laugh out of me

edit: after playing it again, i am now begging you to add a timer to encourage speedrunning these levels if you ever decide to come back to this

no worries! it’s really good for being made in a week! you can always come back to the idea if you want, i really think you could do a lot with it

Good concept. Would be nice to have some more indication for when your cooldown is over and for enemy health but otherwise I found it a pretty good way of allowing the player to choose how to increase difficulty over time

i lost everything very quickly (i am bad at gambling). great job!

I really like the concept behind the battle system here. This one could be expanded after the jam to have an increased difficulty curve and potentially higher risk/higher reward. But I think the general idea you have here has a lot of potential

this is a great idea, could really be expanded upon. feels really good to get a joke to land

this could easily be expanded upon into a full game. love the idea, the art style is great. a little bit more polish and some music here and there and it's a perfect little game imo

update: turns out that is what it was! i wasn't destroying the trigger that instantiates the main scene until after the fade out animation is finished, so double clicking the startup screen would lead to two instances of the game running at once. easy fix, just had to think about it harder. i’ve pushed an update to fix it

thanks for playing! i did notice that happening rarely upon launch but couldn’t recreate it consistently and it was so rare that i didn’t worry about it. i’ll try and see if i can figure out the cause if i have time before it locks. i assume the scene is getting created twice somehow but i’m not sure. also I saw your game in the discord last night and really liked how it looked! i’ll be sure to play it here in a bit

i'm a sucker for this art style and the arcade aspect ratio. i suck at hard difficulty though. really fun to play!

Nice and polished, the music is stuck in my head also

couldn't get it to work in the browser (on macOS) but otherwise, great game and polished visuals. it might be bad for society if this game ran easily in a web browser

relatable game and hilarious first image. this is the first bento-type game i have ever played so i wasn't used to the low friction movement. takes a bit to get used to!

i have always wanted to be a rat shooting dinosaurs in hell. this game finally lets me live that fantasy. would be great to add some audio if you ever plan on expanding on it, i think it would add a lot. art style is great too

i played this while on the toilet and lost track of time

Awesome! Keep at it!

i recommend looking into scaling the viewport to fill the window (should be in project settings in Godot), and then setting the resolution low enough so the game scales properly in the browser. just makes it look a bit more polished. otherwise, nice and simple little game, I agree with the idea to show how close you were to the perfect time to increase the skill ceiling. also, the game inherently has a good looking thumbnail from the page that made me want to click on it first when browsing all the submissions
