With some polish, this could be a really promising concept for a puzzle game. Great work!

thank you so much for the feedback! I did notice these issues during development but didn’t spend the time playing with solutions (drop shadow, FOV change, etc) so I really appreciate the help. Also yeah, I did want to implement classic Bhop mechanics including the swerving (I may have been doing that stuff anyway while testing) but I didn’t want to increase the complexity any higher for people unfamiliar and landed on a simple and somewhat predictable way to increase speed. I would like to expand on the idea of bhopping being the intended method of traversal in a full-ish game though, since movement speed bugs in games have always been my favorites (ABH, BLJ, Bhop, etc). But yes the mechanics in general need some fine tuning and the simple single-color visuals probably don’t help with the depth perception issues
Pretty fun, I think the dificulty curve could be a bit more steep since it's pretty easy to get to a point where you're ridiculously OP (not that getting there isn't fun though). I like the visual style too. If you expand on this in the future you could easily add in some enemy variety, maybe some that rush you from behind, etc. Maybe some variety in level geometry too to make evading more interesting. Really good starting point for something bigger though!
one could clearly point out that the controls aren't as fluid as a more fleshed out 2D platformer. however i am a dog and i NEED to get that stick back so i can get a biscuit and that is all that truly matters. the sketchy art style plays really well with the controls, and it's really the highlight here. every drawing here got a laugh out of me
edit: after playing it again, i am now begging you to add a timer to encourage speedrunning these levels if you ever decide to come back to this
update: turns out that is what it was! i wasn't destroying the trigger that instantiates the main scene until after the fade out animation is finished, so double clicking the startup screen would lead to two instances of the game running at once. easy fix, just had to think about it harder. i’ve pushed an update to fix it
thanks for playing! i did notice that happening rarely upon launch but couldn’t recreate it consistently and it was so rare that i didn’t worry about it. i’ll try and see if i can figure out the cause if i have time before it locks. i assume the scene is getting created twice somehow but i’m not sure. also I saw your game in the discord last night and really liked how it looked! i’ll be sure to play it here in a bit
i recommend looking into scaling the viewport to fill the window (should be in project settings in Godot), and then setting the resolution low enough so the game scales properly in the browser. just makes it look a bit more polished. otherwise, nice and simple little game, I agree with the idea to show how close you were to the perfect time to increase the skill ceiling. also, the game inherently has a good looking thumbnail from the page that made me want to click on it first when browsing all the submissions
