Thank you so much for including my game! The video looks great!!

Short version: my drafts are small snippets of a larger project, and can be illustrations, lists in text format, or even just things I remember and improvise extra plot with.

I usually get the plot planned first. I design characters, write their personalities, events of the story, etc. Then, I keep whichever dialogue ideas I have along the way and improvise the actual coding/dialogue/execution of that plot for the first version of the game, adding art, audio, etc as I go if needed, using whatever I kept note of as a guide. If a project is longer, I'll release it in development and then polish it with feedback from people I know (comments would also work but I personally don't have them on my page), and over time use a document to have a list of updates to do. Once I am complete the updates, that story is finally complete.

Welcome!!! We hope you enjoy itch.io, as a developer I think this is a great way to distribute games you make!

If this for any reason is unsafe, I can remove this post and change the rating, too.

You're looking through the point of view of Kevin, just an ordinary guy, maybe even a loser. You made an idol lose her job, you have the worst luck in your city, and you HATE the idea of ever signing a job application yourself.. But you always admired the stage- so maybe it'll be worth having a career in the end. This game was made in less than a week for a jam, and is supposed to be "so bad it's good" (I made this while kinda tired after finishing a bigger project lol). There ARE some potentially intense moments (pipe bomb explodes, Kevin gets roasted for fearing getting a job, etc) but it's all references to memes to make it go further into the "strange game" sorta thing lol. Nothing here truly has hurtful intentions. All representation is intended to be respectful when there (NO MOCKING TOPICS IRL, JUST VN TROPES AND MEMES), just any potentially in-depth topics will not be in depth due to the game itself lacking a plot lol.

NOTE: some references may go over your head as this is a fangame. Credits to the designs used are on the page.

Thank you so much! The game can actually be played in smaller parts and saved, that's the intention as it has a lot of detail I put in over time (I started making it months ago and got permission to use this jam to continue work!)

Sorry if this actually wasn't supposed to be allowed, if it wasn't then this was an accident because I think it should be fine.

I did my research and decided since the jam is already over and neither jam specifically said no, I will enter the othe one too. I do not need to win if this actually isn't allowed, I am just entering for fun. Sorry if I made a mistake by doing this.

I plan on entering a new game into this jam and one other. If not, I can choose one to enter.

Fun fact: I also like the idea of making a gallery with achievements! Might be a fun idea if I can put it together in time.

Please note that this game contains animated blood/violence and other darker themes (listed on page), and is therefore rated NSFW though still follows itch guidelines.

As a visual novel developer, I use Ren'Py. Free, simple modified Python to code in, and actually fun to use. It comes with a GUI which can be modified and folders to keep the files (images, GUI, audio, etc). Ren'Py is specifically designed to create visual novels, so it's capabilities are great for VNs and more limited for other genres.

Thanks! Have a great day!

Thanks! I hope you a nice rest of your day (:

I just want to confirm if I can enter other jams of the same theme and continue my game I've been working on, if I can't that's alright, just making sure so I don't unintentionally break any rules since I don't think there was any information on those rules.

Is it fine to submit an updated/continued version of a project I've already started? Just confirming since I will be working on it through October but technically it will have over a month of work in the full project, but it says "worked on" rather than started, so I am unsure.

Thanks!! I really enjoy drawing so I like making visual novels (sorry if the wording is weird, I have a few struggles socializing but I appreciate the comment! :D)

⚠While those who tested this game said it's not quite "adult," it may still make some players uncomfortable. Please read description on game page before playing. Recommended for ages 16+. This game is currently incomplete and in early access. ⚠

https://starlight-eclipsecritter.itch.io/secrets-of-the-hopspital

secrets of the hopspital is a free horror visual novel that can also be played in the browser. Your name is Periwinkle, and you like music, but faint at a concert unexpectedly. And fall into... a black hole?? Or something else completely?? Either way, through the rabbit-hole you find yourself in a hospital far away from home... and have to survive the horrors that lie in this strange place. This game also is loosely based on some personal experiences with medical issues and autism (both of which I have), and my experiences with identity and accepting myself in a world that's confused by the ways I think and feel. The main character is also xenic, and there is more nonbinary representation too. There is also a dog therian!

So if you like parallel universes, bunnies, representation I've personally never seem much, and a monster trying to drown this world of rabbits into darkness all wrapped up into a hospital-shaped box, I recommend this new (though unfinished) project!

Oh yeah, there's also 7 endings, and eventually an 8th when it's finished!

If you are interested in the game, feel free to play! If not, that's alright, I'm aware my game won't be fun to everyone. But if you do decide to play the game, I hope you enjoy it!

(note: if this game for any reason is actually considered adult, I will remove this post and mark the game as adult as soon as I can. However, the test players said the game is probably not quite adult, which is why I've decided it's okay to share it here. Either way, check the warnings and keep in mind this is NOT a children's game, either, but rather intended for ages 16+ rather than 18+.)

I'm not much of a DDLC fan anymore lol. I make horror games if you're interested, but this place isn't really for self-promotion, so I won't go into too much detail.

Thanks(:

I wasn't able to move when I played it the first time, and I'm not sure about my favourite character.

Survival mode might not work, or maybe my computer was still loading the game. That's why I tried arena mode first.

Okay, thanks! the font on the game page is kind of hard to read, but that's the last piece of criticism so far!

Edit: never mind, the font is fine, I just wasn't focusing.

Have a nice day!

Edit: saving this for when I'm better at game development. I'll either continue here or make a new devlog later on.

Update: I tried arena mode and it's fun, but the robots get really close to you and it's hard to avoid their attacks. Maybe if there is a way to dodge the attacks, it might be easier. I hope you a great evening! (or night, it's past 10:00 PM lol)

The game starts out about the snow, but turns into a life simulator afterward. Still horror after though!

I finished the main plot! It seems the game will be a survival horror/life simulation!

Step 1: planning the plot. I'm not sure about gameplay yet, but I'll start with the plot.

Thanks! Happy holidays!

Oh, and I will be working on future projects more than Kitsune. Unless it really succeeds. If it gets popular, I might make a side story with the new characters(:
