Hello,

I definitely agree with that, it's quite far from my comfort zone but engaging it invites curiosity and thus improves activity. In any case, it also provides an opportunity to see what others are doing, which can be inspiring at times, as well as the writing process itself being rewarding after crafting a well-written post.

It's interesting that you are into game development, what type of games are you working on? Personally, I've been into asset creation, it's quite fun creating 3D objects from imagination.

Hello!

I'm getting started publishing 3D low-poly assets on here, personally I use Blender for this purpose.  Apart from it being free, I like the ability to be precise with how 3D objects are created, as there are so many shortcuts and tricks to create a wide variety of shapes. Furthermore, there's a lot of features that I have still to figure out. In any case, I've managed to get some of my works onto my profile and am creating more over time in the hope that I can succeed as an asset creator.

My priority with 3D asset creation is with science fiction assets, as personally it enables the maximum range of creative expression as there are so many speculative topics to draw from and infinite variety. At a certain point the end result becomes impressive on its own after adding enough details.

My question now is what programs or features you use to create illustrations as well as what type of illustrations you create, as I am wondering what others are creating here.

I recognize the Blender UI. Coincidentally, I've got a modular set of my own in the works (which are supposed to resemble space station corridors) and once I add enough details to it and make sure the pieces line up with each other it should be good to upload.

Very fancy artwork for the walls! As someone who is getting started with Blender, can you tell me how you added the brick textures? (I am currently doing low-poly assets as that is easiest for me, I create materials and then assign them to each polygon).

These are a collection of 10 low-poly futuristic spaceship models. The three in the front are part of a free demo, the rest constitute a full set.

I've got a collection of other science-fiction models that I created on Blender that I am planning to upload to my page.

I recently got started with commercial asset creation and I'm just creating assets and seeing how it goes.

That's very cool! Personally, I create 3D low-poly assets on Blender, which is mostly oriented around science-fiction themes, such as spaceship models. It is completely different, but it's cool to see someone else also into asset creation.

I've just started using Blender for commercial purposes (I've had it for a while and used it occasionally, but I'm now using it with the goal of uploading and selling assets). I want to use it for more, like animation, but for now I'm just creating static objects.

What tools do you use for asset creation? I'm wondering if there's an app like Blender for what you are doing (I'm a Windows Paint enjoyer) and what features it has.

Hello,

I've started to create some 3D art in the form of low-poly models with Blender (mostly science-fiction themed assets). I've already created and uploaded some model spaceships created on Blender with more assets on the way.

It's quite fun being able to create unique things in this way (especially the far-future themed assets - those have otherworldly and geometric themes and look impressive when enough detail is put into them). However, I've still got some stuff to learn about Blender (I want to learn how to animate eventually), so for now I'm just making static object models.

Good luck with what you're doing!

Hello,

I am an aspiring asset creator who has begun to use Blender for commercial purposes. I've already gotten some assets uploaded to itch.io and my gumroad account, with more of my assets almost ready to be uploaded in the future. I prefer to create science fiction assets (spaceship models, near-future object models, etc).

I tried creating games on itch.io under a separate account but it felt like I had to worry too much about whether it would be compatible with html5 in addition to a slew of other technical issues where it didn't seem like it was worth the effort. I switched to asset creation as a focus and it's a lot more streamlined: just create something on Blender and press the upload button (there's a few extra steps, but it's nowhere near as tedious as developing and updating a game). In addition, my games didn't really get any activity for the amount of effort I put in.

I am hoping that things will be different as the simpler development process of creating assets on Blender will allow me to create things more efficiently and set a good pace of content to be created and uploaded. I also wish to become more experienced with Blender so I can do more with it and be even faster with asset creation. I am excited to begin exercising my creativity in the process of asset creation as well as eventually earning some money in the process.

Anyone have any thoughts for getting started with asset creation?

Hello,

I am aspiring to create and sell 3D assets for game development. I have a fair amount of knowledge of Blender and have begun to create some models. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to know if the models I am creating are going to be of good enough quality for other people (I think I did a good job on them).

That is why I wanted to ask for feedback on one of my models (which is meant to be a demo - but right now it is a test to see if there are any quality issues with the model). I thought it would be a good idea to ensure that there are no issues with the models before uploading more of my files to itch.io, because although it looks good on Blender, I am not sure if the models will break when opened on another program or device.
