Welcome everybody to this years SNES Dev Game Jam!
We really appreciate you accepting this magnificent challenge of creating your own SNES homebrew. Last years jam was incredible and provided many great entries. But I have the feeling that we will be able to top it this year.

You can always ask here in the forum or on discord for help or to join/create a team.  Several chiptune musician already reached out!

Every contribution will be appreciated!
106 people already joined although the jam just started, that is already 5 more people than at the end of last years jam, where around half joined in the last month of the jam.

This years judges
This year we can provide an incredible roster of judges well known in the SNES world:

Welcome on board!

Rewards update

The top 15 will receive a selfmade multicartridge (1 per team) with the top 15 rated titles of this jam - paid for by us (contruction and shipment).
Also recently two  additional rewards were added:

  • Craftpix will reward 1-year CraftPix memberships for the top 3 teams overall (up to 5ppl per team)
  • BrewOtaku donates a free digital issue of the Brewotaku magazine to all participants of the Game Jam.

Can you provide an example?

Do you know  how to make actual chiptune music for the Super Nintendo’s SPC700 sound-chip?

I am fine with $7 but can you add paypal?

Yes, Paypal please

Hi, how is progress going?

Wouldn't it make more sense to actually make the demake for the SNES? Instead of just looking SNESy?

na dann carpe diem ;)

Falls du es nicht gesehen hast, du bist herzlich willkommen ;)

If you need a tester for the new project or some feedback do not hesitate to contact me ;)

I've been beating the drum a bit for this game over the last days. And I have  even reviewed it: https://snes-testberichte.de/super-hard-bouncer/

Great effort! I really hope to see more SNES games from you.

Hi, are you still developing it?
Could you send me the .smc or .sfc data file?

(1 edit)

Can't believe I haven't stumbled upon it earlier.
Really nice work! Will you continue working on it?

Just epic mate! Thank you soooo much.

I have practiced a bit more

Will you port this on the SNES?

It will be when you join :)

Hi, thank you for the nice demo :)
I hope many more countries will join the level selection screen (ice cream stage in Antarctica? Ceviche in Peru? Pierogis in Poland? Hotdogs in USA?) and I hope you will join the SNES Dev Game Jam 2026 :) you have some talent.

My best score was 1290 so far.

Thx for the answer!
Maybe you can join a team, or just advice others if they have questions :) ?
But yeah, finishing this project should be your priority. Good luck and don't get frustrated, there are people waiting for this to get finished :)

Hi, it would be nice if you could join the upcoming SNES Dev Game Jam 2026 :)
Still no update on this project?

Wow another update!
What changed?
Pls join the SNES Dev Game Jame 2026 :)

As already teasered in a previous community post. Svambo and me put a lot of thought into creating a new SNES Dev Game Jam in 2026.

After several weeks we came up with a bit of a plan and concept and since today the SNES Dev Game Jam 2026 site is finally live!

https://itch.io/jam/snes-dev-game-jam-2026

All of you are warmly invited to join - the results of 2025 were mindblowing, and we have a feeling that it will be  even more amazing this year, hopefully we will see as many of you as possible in the upcoming jam.

If you can't join, please share :)

That is epic! Will you create a similar emulator for Game Boy or SNES?

If you can't pick the next system for a JURL port, maybe try the Super Game Boy. Dr Ludos created an interesting project about this with source code available.

Great update!

To all members of the jury, please don't forget to rate the games! Only 2,5 days left, after that you can't the games anymore!
So far only 3 of the 6 judges seem to have rated the games. If you can't find the time to rate all of them, at least rate a few ;)

I had some trouble getting into your game in the beginning, because I didn't understand the controls properly and I was clueless on what to do. Then I got it and got hooked, the really cool design and the atmospheric music add a lot to the whole feeling.

I hope you will continue working on this game and include some more power-ups and maybe a bit of story to read in some  of the empty rooms about what happened and where exactly the player is.

Control issue: if you stand really close to a wall that's north of you and try to shoot left or right it's like the shot gets stuck in the wall and doesn't fly towards the enemy. Cost me some lifes :D

Will the stream be recorded? You should definitely post a link here.

You should definitely continue this project I'd be very interested in playing it the way you've planned it.

Did you change anything else aside from the ROM size?
I can't see any differences.

Don't be sad mate, I have requalyfied it for everyone to see it!

But I think it has to be disqualified again before the rating period ends. Also 1 or 2 other games probably.

next time!

Ok, I thought I was too dumb to figure out what this game is about :D

There where roms, where are they?

Could you explain what this is and what was originally planned?
Doesn't seem to work on my end.
