My name is OwlUnity, and I submitted the game "Magic.exe" to the
Wizards, Magic & Summoning | RPG-ACTION Game Jam
to craft a creative game that brings a cyberpunk futuristic out-of-the-box vibe.
I would like to express my deep concern that with less than 5 hours left before the review deadline,
my application has not received a single view, much less a download, except for my own test download to check functionality.
I would like to bring to your attention some personal context and the challenges I faced while preparing this project:
1)I am a developer from Kharkiv, Ukraine,
a city that is currently under constant threat of missile attacks.
Due to the constant shelling, kindergartens and schools are closed, so development time has been extremely limited due to the constant care of my three-year-old son.
2)The day I registered for the jam, our internet infrastructure was damaged due to the war.
I discovered the game jam on July 21st, but was only able to start working on July 23rd due to the damaged internet being repaired.
3)The following day, our home was affected by a bombing, and I had to spend two days dealing with my child's mental health and damage to our apartment.
4)This is my very first game jam, and despite all of the above, I managed to finish and deliver a working, fully functional game on time.
I fully understand that the number of entries may be limited and that the process may be informal, but to have no one even open my submission raises concerns.
I have invested serious time and care not only in creating my game but also in fairly reviewing and rating other participants' entries - even re-downloading a few to ensure I was judging based on real gameplay, not just visuals.
Personally, it took me a full day to review the work of other participants. I even downloaded some entries more than once to make sure my rating was fair and that I was evaluating a finished product - not just looking at the "cover" of a game that doesn’t actually exist.
(After all, I can browse through scenes with just models on your official "X" page - there are plenty of interesting works and even more visual designs there.)
I respectfully request that you verify my submission’s visibility and ensure it is being judged fairly.
At the very least, I believe all participants deserve basic engagement and recognition for their work - especially in a creative, community-centered event like this.
Thank you for your time and understanding. I truly hope this is not a scam, and that all entries are being treated with care and respect.
Sincerely,
OwlUnity
Very atmospheric picture, but not suitable for the gameplay:
- no way to exit/end game (only Alt+Cntrl+Del)
-LeftShift + Space button combination turns you into Neo from the Matrix.
- enemies are immortal/ disappear somewhere
-weapons can disapper anywhere (dual swords)
-The narrative is spontaneus
-There are no clear visual clues
Incredible potential, but there is a lot to work on (A spacial note - the narrator drags his words a lot, at a certain point it starts to get annoyng).
I really liked it, the picture quality is increadible and the soundtrack with the effect of changing the day is very atmospheric. I immediately see incredible potential in this concept! If this were a full-fledged game and not a demonstration - most likely I would immerse myself in this atmospere for certain number of evenings!
It's a good quastion!)) in the demo version I developed the concept, in the pre release version (if it comes) there will be delicious own assets of graphics, sound effects, well thought out lightning and shadows and a few more goodies. And ofcourse, the enemies will be more interesting, added elements of puzzles, visual effects and more elaborate plot well be added, which will be more pleasantly cprocessed in the UI. Thx for reaction, thats what I need.
