Cool game! I was able to find the Dr. Chen and Dir. Voss files, but I could not find the third file. I located the green arrow but still couldn't find the third file. It's cool how there are files left behind and how they give you a little information about Subject Zero. Also, the darkness helps to make the game scary. For me, it was a little too dark! I'm sure I was running around in circles for a while. The user interface was interesting in that it appears as though you are part of some kind of experiment. Subject Zero looks cool from close up but it's too difficult to dodge it's attacks in the dark. It's also interesting how Subject Zero can hear you running and responds to your footsteps. Nice work!

I played the game again...this time on my desktop computer. This time, I found the orchard and the farmer, which I was not aware of before. Is there a way to cook the mushrooms and blomba meat in the oven yet? Also, if you have no mushrooms or blomba meat, the game gets stuck in the tool shed with no way to move back. The game represents a cool, fantasy world and it would be cool if you depict changes in the environment on a daily basis! Perhaps you could add some kind of daily time cycle? ^_^

OK, I played the game again on my desktop computer and spent a bit more time analyzing my surroundings. I was able to get all five endings! ^_^ I would say that the soda machine ending and the digital lock ending were the most difficult to get. For the soda machine, you must analyze both machines. One is broken and the other is not. Then, after your drink gets jammed you need the steel bar to get the drink out. The overall idea of the game is great! I love the washed-out graphics and minimal sounds. The sound effect that plays when you encounter the dead body works well! I hope you continue working on the game and improving it so I can learn more about the city and the evil force plaguing it. Also, on the screen when you encounter hammer toes, you must click in the upper left part of the screen to move back instead of encountering her. Perhaps you could make it less ambiguous how to move back? One more thing...I noticed that when you get the unknown key it does not show up on the Items menu, but you still have it. Also, did you use the "He laughs hysterically as he tears your body to shreds"  death scene quote from the Scarlett O'Hara skeleton death scene from Uninvited? I used it in my game, Cybernetic Nation, also! ^_^ It's when you try to battle the infectid zookeeper but have no infectid spray! There was one grammatical mistake in the game: "The state city is in is starting to elevate your anxiety..."

So far I was only able to get two endings: the one where you walk into the factory and wake up after getting stabbed, and the one where you encounter the hammer feet woman. I think your game is AWESOME! I was not able to decipher the electronic lock but it must have something to do with the Roman numeral numbers spray painted on the wall. I also don’t know what to do with the loose change or steel bar. I have a feeling the key fits into the locked door but every time I tried to move back after getting the key I always encountered the woman with hammer feet. I like your usage of silence as a fear factor. Good job! The graphics are really cool and post-apocalyptic look works really well! Please don’t give me any hints just yet. I’m going to try the game again on my desktop computer. I only played it on my phone so far. You also used some very descriptive text in your narrative! ^_^ Now THIS is the reason I held this game jam in the first place. Thank you so much for making Not Awake!

Cool game! The graphics are great and I like how you can investigate the scenes by clicking on the environment. This makes the game very immersive. I noticed that you also included time of day changes and altering weather patterns, which adds a nice touch. The characters are really cool looking and the floating sea sponges are very interesting and unique. I definitely want to see what direction you take the game in next! Also, you can make the text more detailed by giving extended descriptions of what is happening in the game. This makes the narrative more interesting to read. Great job so far!

Thank you very much! Happy Easter!

Hi! I want to let you know that I will be hosting my own 8-Bit and 16-Bit horror game jam on itch.io. The point of the game jam is to allow game developers in the general public to make games similar to "Snatcher," "Uninvited," and "Dead of the Brain." These games are horror/sci-fi themed and are known for their presentation. The point of the jam is for developers to be able to make their own, similar "dream" games that they have in mind and share it with others. Games will be judged based on Graphics, Sound, Control, Fun Factor, and Challenge. Any development environment can be used to make games for the jam. The jam will run from March 3rd, 2026 until April 5th, 2026. You can join the jam here:

Cool game! It would be great if the background didn't move up and down all of the time while you were constantly bouncing around in the platformer stage. The, I could see the little creatures moving around as well as read their messages. There was a lot going on in the background, like constellations in the sky, which is a very good thing. It's neat how you can change the phase from light to dark, like in this one shmup called Ikaruga. Also, the second part of the shooting phase was very impressive and had some technical graphics. The music was awesome and had some cool, long songs! It's awesome that you know how to program this well! ^_^

That's the point of horror! ^_^ Thank you very much for playing my game!

What a fun game! The wall climbing reminded me of the Super Nintendo game Super Metroid. The minimalist graphics reminded me of this old PlayStation 1 game called Vib Ribbon. The PC controls didn't work at first for some reason. Then, I realized you must press "a" to move left, "d" to move right, and "f" to pay at the locked doors and computers. Why do you have to click ten times at the computers to get their coin? The hit detection was also very well done. It could have been a lot worse. I like how at the end it says, "You have finished your shift." It's like the pig is working in a factory or something and must collect coins to finish working the shift. You should add sounds and music and of course add the sound effect of the pig oinking. ^_^ Also, you should give the pig a name like "Oinky" or something cute and funny. Overall, I had a lot of fun and played through the game a couple times. Thank you for making this!

Thank you very much for playing the game and congratulations on making it to the ending! ^_^ Here's a little hint: there is another hidden message about capitalism that you may have not found that you didn't mention...

I don't know much about the stock market, but I can tell that your game had much more to do with the theme of capitalism than mine did. The music reminded me of the music from this NES game called Wall Street Kid, so that's a plus. I like the nice, large text logos and how the fonts are different for the different companies. I thought that your concept was very original because I've never seen a game quite like this before.  In terms of gameplay, I'm sorry but I didn't quite understand what to do. I didn't know how much money to submit or when to stop the moving measure symbol at the appropriate time, or which company to change to. I hope that someone else with knowledge about how the stock market works can understand the ins and outs of the gameplay.

Hi, CrimsonChallenger! Thank you very much for playing my game. Make sure you have the Num Lock key on your keypad set to on so you can use the 0 key. I would recommend investigating the house a bit more. I don’t want to give too many hints because voting for the jam is not over yet but here’s one: You can use the Investigate option multiple times for different messages. I actually used silence as a fear factor so that’s why there is no music in the game. I will play your game, DisInterest later in the day when I get home.

At first it took me a little while to understand how to play. It's a fun, strategic puzzle/card game! I was able to win the game, too! I really like the graphics! The music is also very interesting. Very cool! ^_^

Very fun game. It reminds me a bit of the other entry called "Falling Money." It's almost as fun as playing Tetris. You must balance money and love. Playing the game teaches you a lesson about the real world. I like the name of the game very much too! ^_^

A very nice game in which you must block obstacles. It's interesting how you need to accumulate money but can lose it as well, just like in the real world. It would be great if there were some sound effects.

Very interesting game. I only managed to survive for 14 months. It is a harsh look at reality. It's good that you got the text to scroll by. This reminds me of a Super Nintendo RPG. Can you shoot during the bullet hell scene? Either way, good job on making the game.

🙂

Thank you!

The Asylum

I am proud to announce that my 1-Bit Horror game "The Asylum" has been completed and is now available for download! It was made in QB64 for the 1-Bit Jam 9:

1-BIT JAM 9 - itch.io

The game is in black and white and takes place in a capitalistic society to go along with the theme of the jam; capitalism. The game was influenced by the NES game "Uninvited" as well as the game "Faith: The Unholy Trinity." It uses minimalist graphics, interesting sounds, and descriptive text to scare the player. If you have the chance, please give the game a playthrough and vote for it in the game jam. The game can be downloaded here:

The Asylum by Neils4

As soon as I downloaded the game my computer’s virus detector said that there was a virus on the file and immediately deleted it.

It's a very nice screensaver for Halloween!

I was unable to run the game on my computer.

I live-streamed for 3.5 hours but no one showed up. Please let me know when is a good time and day for my next stream so you can participate.

HA HA! ^_^ I'm glad that you played my game! No, there is no end to the madness in the game. You just pass the ball to the other players and that's it. I worked on the AI so that the players are attracted to the ball to some extent. Thank you for subscribing to my YouTube Channel!

Thank you very much! I'm glad that you had fun playing my game!

Ecco: Crisis on Neptune

Very interesting game! I didn't even know what the Voynich Manuscript was before playing this game, so thanks for teaching me! It's interesting how you can analyze this mysterious book. I also love the ambient music. It fits perfectly with the game!

Very interesting digital novel! I feel like I am reading a real newspaper from years ago.

I had fun playing your game. It reminds me of one of those desktop pet applications from the 1990's. You know, like Petz, Catz, and Dogz. It's interesting how you implemented text boxes to interact with the user.

Here's my kappa! ^_^

Hi! My name is Neils4. I am working on an RPG called "Closed Off City" using the programming language QB64. The game is similar to  the Megami Tensei and Wizardry video games. I was wondering if any Anime/Manga/Horror 2D pixel artist would like to help me make the graphics for the game for free. You would be using software called PixelPlus256 and your images would be saved as .PUT file types, which you would send me through e-mail. You need to open PixelPlus256 using a piece of software called DosBox because it dates back to 1997. To open the software just drag and drop the file "pp.EXE" from the PixelPlus256 folder onto the yellow "DosBox.EXE" icon in the DosBox folder. In the software, you would have only 256 colors to work with, but this is still enough to make good art. If you need a tutorial on using the PixelPlus256 software, I can help you. You can download DosBox and PixelPlus256 at:
