Really well made game! I thought It's gonna be a action game of some sort!
But I can't imagine how you didn't come back to the first level after the end of it... the theme was loop.
I haven't watched the playthrough, but I think I finished some levels in a not so normal way (with getting weird angles and trying to hit some guy with the help of the fan with lots of error and trial)
Killing the boss with one hit was a gigachad move, however I think it would be better if it had stages of some sort (level changes after you hit it each time)
Also giving the boss a way to fight us back would've been cool (and time-taking of course)
It was also really optimized, my low-end laptop could run it without much lag (the web version)!
Good job! And good luck! All these were suggestions, don't take them serious!
Good Game! Really liked the idea of a loop like that! Good art, liked the 3d more! Sound and audio is good also! But I got some sort of headache when trying to move, as someone else pointed out, going diagonal. And anyway, even on the loop you fight with people in, I experienced some headache by looking at it lol. And shaking cam when you hit monster also makes such feeling, sorry if unsure about how to fix it. And for a good feedback, there are some suggestion, that I think you thought about but maybe didn't have time to implement:
- 3d characters are also good, 2d kinda doesn't fit
- Smarter and different types of enemies, of course you had the healthier ones (healer, archer)
- As someone else has said before, upgrade of weapons after getting the same on twice
- Including a sky
- Damage numbers
- Attack hit sounds etc.
I understand you didn't have time to make these or think of! These are only suggestions. Great game, good job buddy!
Oh, I think the cover made some problems, sorry about that. I just was sad about not being able to make a "good game" (it's just a top-down shooter lol) this jam. This game actually was my backup plan, in case I find no game idea possible to implement. I participate each year to keep my inner game developer alive, I'm busy with doing other stuff like a olympiad and studying etc. So I don't practice game dev often, but I don't want it to die. So the tone kinda feels I'm depressed of some sort, I'll change the cover, thanks for your feedback!
Great game! The graphics look bad from the screenshots, but they are really nice and cute! Story and narrative is great! Great levels and puzzles! Conversation text animations and sound effects make it perfect! Full score!
Only things I can suggest are working on the background appearance beside the characters and main stuff (of course it seem you were surprised by time!) and making a web build also (Not sure what engine or library you use) and a background for the main menu. The game also has settings! My gosh! Great job buddy! Good luck. I think your game is gonna be one of 100 if it gets enough ratings. Rate other people's games, dm people in discord to advertise your game, don't let it be wasted!
Great idea and nice implementations! And no one has said it, so I say. It is wonderful that you made all these with web languages, not a game engine! I also wanted to do that first. But after trying for some time, I thought web dev technology is too limited for making a fun game. (Of course by that I mean I only could make text games with it, never focused on the graphic/game part of web dev). But you proved me wrong so badly! Thanks for making this wonderful game. And the track fixing sorry text was really nice, I would've been upset if it wasn't there (just too dumb to understand other people's problems). Just a question, was this really AI? Or some way to simulate it? Real AI is too heavy to for my laptop, and not only one, one for each car!
Good Game! Here are some suggestions I have (no offense dude, you made a much better thing than my game):
- Having some audio is good, even if not perfect. Just use the sites mentioned in the jam page. You can also use jsfxr for making shooting and hitting sounds etc.
- Please make controlling it easier, while it might be possible for some to get used to it, it is really challenging to focus on shooting and collecting weapons while I can't even avoid hitting asteroids lol.
- Not sure about this one, but maybe collecting the guns is not that important, just give them to the players from start. That way people can see and experience the gun cycling mechanic from the start.
- I think it would be good if hitting asteroids caused them to get destroyed (I mean hitting them with the space ship) because they also damage you. Also for fancy stuff that no one can do in a jam, you can also deal knockback when you hit an asteroid.
These are just suggestions, and no one can understand how much effort you put in this game, so I wanted you to know that I'm not judging anything here. Great job making and submitting a game! Good luck!
Cool game, It looks like a mix of rool the dice and loop theme. I really liked the music and sound effects.
Now I want to tell you some issues, and give you an idea of how to fix them (I apologize in advance ):
- Numbers not readable
- Increase the resolution
- pixel art isn't easier than hand-drawn, it's actually harder I think. And one of the hardest parts is scaling it up and setting the viewport etc. Sometimes try hand-drawn art!
- Too much luck involved, looks like a gamble than a game
- Something I've figured out and game designers like to point out is that the players want control! Currently in this game the only control we have is spining and choosing prizes. Make players decide on stuff a bit more.
- For example, how about only allowing the player use some or one of the prizes, meaning after they see the spinning result, they choose what boost to do
- Or maybe giving the player some more chance based on result of a skill based mini-game
- Something I've figured out and game designers like to point out is that the players want control! Currently in this game the only control we have is spining and choosing prizes. Make players decide on stuff a bit more.
Of course from these I don't mean that you should've and could've done this. Just a bit of inspiration. And I'm completely unaware of how development process went for you. I might looks easy to someone, but It is made with lots of work and effort indeed. Great job buddy!
Really cool and nice game! Art is also awesome. Gameplay feels a bit buggy, maybe if the paper didn't have legs things would work better. And if there was a sign of where you can climb then it would be even better. Climbing the staircase didn't make sense to me, because there wasn't actually a wall.
Very cool game! Really liked the childish art style and sound effects. It felt really good to play with those shadows until you find just the right size and solution. The fact that platform's stroke of two shadows that have joined was realistic and nice looking. It was really creative and enjoyable overall! I have some suggestions you might have thought of:
- Using some kind of nine slice or something similar to make the big shadows look better
- Making the dream button look like beveled and outstanding instead of looking like a hole and input
The game was so cool, complete and problem-less that I couldn't find any bigger issues. Thanks for creating this great game!
Thanks for feedback! Yeah I agree that it is really unbalanced even for a jam game. ut I kinda think the point that map gets bigger is related to the theme. I haven't played for that long, but I'm pretty sure the music does loop, I'll check it out, thanks for informing me! I'll try to improve it to make it a nice enjoyable game.
Thanks a lot for your feedback! Nice thing you pointed out there, the souls were added at the end, I didn't notice they heal too much until now. Indeed double fire rate zone and simple enemy AI made the game too easy and repetitive. To improve this, I'm planning to do one or more of these:
- Add more enemies with more complex AI
- Add more zones which will make progressing easier and possible (some are heavily needed)
- Implement some sort of move to not die mechanic (not moving deals damage)
- Time limited prizes for exploration and movement (Some sort of damage bonus, speed bonus, temp prize crates)
- Your idea modified, Each situation or enemy needs a specific power-up, so you need to move
Thanks again for playing the game and giving feedback! Things will improve in a post-jam version.
Cool game. Liked the art and concept. However I think there could be more sound, for example typing or photocopy sounds or ghost sound effects. I wnted to see all features but I wasn't sure when I was going to see skeletons. Some interaction would be also good, some mechanic to keep yourself a bit busy when waiting for money. Something like hovering on ghosts but funner. Overall, it was a really nice game! Nice job.
Edit: Now I saw you did this in 48 hours, impressive!
The idea and art are really great and well-executed, enjoyed it! It would be good if the camera was more zoomed out a bit more or there was more garbage. Also for future some kind of military mode (how to say that lol) with enemies would be fun. I really like the games where you start with some small fort/spaceship/car/machine and you upgrade it until it's massive, but haven't seen many of them. This one was really cool! Thanks for creating this!
This was an original idea I haven't seen something like. And it was executed pretty well. However pressing E to pick up scales seems a bit unneeded. UI was kind of annoying to me. Some of art was really cool but some of it looked not as well as the other ones. Grown fishes kill in one hit and buying new rooms isn't that benfitial, so I rather to stay in one room. I liked the death cutscene (or whatever name it has). I hope that I see more games from you
Cool idea, very nice style and art and great variety of enemies. Shooting those enemies and running from those bacteries duplicating every split second and other chaotic stuff was cool! The cheese powerups also were cool, But the fact that you could keep them and not die made the game a bit too easy I guess. The bullet powerup was cool but not visible in short range. Thank you for making this cool game. I hope I see more games made by you like this one!
