We have a game we'd like to include in future similar initiatives, however it won't be released until next year: https://tabletop-playground.com/

So please keep us in mind for that :)

Thanks - based on how the game is designed is should be quite easy to do and work well

Hey Anuke, any plans to let people share the maps they create in the editor (without the manual import)? We run a cross-platform modding API with an open source SDK called mod.io. It is similar to Steam Workshop, except it'll work on itch.io and everywhere else you need it to. Reach me hello [aaaatttt] mod.io if you'd like to chat! Cheers.

If you are interested to see the mod.io Unity Plugin in action, I highly recommend you grab Totally Accurate Battle Simulator on Steam. They launched 7 days ago on mod.io and already 7,500 battles have been shared and downloaded 125,000 times. It has been amazing to see a community create so much content, with daily challenges issued to players and streamers.

Some of our favorite campaigns include a recreation of the 4th crusade and a tower of mammoths because you can never have too many mammoths in your life apparently.

We are very proud to welcome ModBot 🤖 to the mod.io family. If you run a Discord server and want your community to be alerted when mods for your game(s) on mod.io are added or updated, invite the ModBot in.

mod.io is an open platform for hosting mods created by the team behind ModDB.com and IndieDB.com.

It can be integrated in-game using the REST APIC/C++ SDK or engine plugins: Unity is readyUnreal Engine is in development and more are coming.

Features include:

If you are familiar with Steam Workshop but need a solution that works on Steam as well as the Epic Games Store, itch.io, Discord, GOG and other places in the future, then mod.io is the tool for you.

  • Platform agnostic supporting 1 click mod installs on Steam, Epic Games Store, Discord, GOG, itch.io with plans for full-console support
  • Clientless with no other dependencies and works behind the scenes in your game
  • Connect your community with our Discord ModBot and embeddable web app
  • Powerful search, filtering and tagging of mods
  • Moderation and reporting systems built-in

Steps to getting mod.io integrated:

  • Add your game to the mod.io test or production environment
  • Read our API documentation for an overview of how mod.io works
  • Choose an Engine PluginAPI or SDK and integrate mod.io into your game and mod making tools
  • Ready to launch? Add your game to our production environment then click the "go live button"
  • We will reach out to discuss promoting your game to our community of 5 million monthly visitors on ModDB and IndieDB
  • Need help? Our team is available on Discord to assist and our getting started guide has more information for you

Benefits of using mod.io:

mod.io offers the same core functionality as Steamworks Workshop (1 click mod installs in-game), plus mod hosting, moderation and all of the critical pieces needed. Where we differ is primarily driven by the open nature of our platform which is not tied to a client + SDK, giving you much greater control and implementation options if you want them.

  • Our API is not dependent on a client or SDK, allowing you to run mod.io in many places such as your homepage and launchers
  • Designing a good mod browsing UI is hard, our plugins ship with a UI built in to save you a lot of effort and help your mods stand out
  • We don't apply rules globally, so if you want to enable patronage, sales or other experimental features, reach out to discuss
  • Our platform is built by the super experienced ModDB.com team and is continually improving for your benefit
  • Your community can consume the mod.io API to build modding fan sites or discord bots if they want

What we are working on:

All of our plugins and tools are open source and hosted on Github. Our community are building wrappers, command line tools, engine plugins and we welcome all contributors to the project. Our roadmap priorities include:

  • ModBot for Discord
  • Xbox, Playstation and Switch support
  • Embeddable web app with hooks for easy UI implementation
  • Localization (API is localized, next step allowing content to be)
  • Engine plugins: Unreal is close, GameMaker and others are next
  • Patronage, marketplace and trading

These screenshots are from our Unity plugin, which ships with a built in UI.

Excited to follow the updates, will jump in Discord now to track your alpha 3 progress :D

I totally agree orb505, I've figured out what happened. Itch.io sets prices in USD and then autoconverts to other currencies.

On steam we set the price for other currencies, and we did that not realizing there was a difference. The itch.io discount was meant to be the same, as itch.io was essentially a release for our fans ahead of the game shipping on Steam.

If you PM me your paypal details i'll gladly refund the difference or the full game (and you can keep the copy), as I can assure you we value our early access players, and due to the way these systems set local prices caused this slight discrepancy.

The game was discounted on itch.io by the same price? The discount on itch.io stopped once we started selling on steam so perhaps you purchased then? I'd be happy to provide a refund of the difference - as we are not discounting by more!

I noticed these instructions were shared by Rise of Industry previously. Let me know if these steps help:

Step 1 - Find or re-request the download page from your original Itch.io purchase email

If you haven't done so, find your original email with the purchase link.

Can't find your email?  Go to this page: https://itch.io/docs/buying/already-bought and you can request that the download links  be sent to you!

The page should look something like this, so click the "download page" link:

Step 2 - Click "Get Steam Key" and follow the instructions

Click the "Get Steam Key" button shown (check image).

Follow the instructions to link your Steam account, verify your email if necessary and then copy the key to your clipboard.

Step 3 - Add your key to Steam

If you'd like, you can link your Steam key early, so on the 9th February all you have to do is install and run it.

Click on "Add a game..." on the bottom left of the Steam Library, then on "Activate":

Enter the key, as shown:

If everything goes well, you should get it confirmed:

Step 4 -

You can now download, install and play the game from your Steam library!

Troubleshooting

Q: I didn't create an itch.io account when I bought the game!

A: Go to the bottom of this page: https://itch.io/docs/buying/already-bought

Q: When I open the link to get my Steam key itch displays a 404 error.

A: This will happen if you open the link in a browser that is not logged in to your itch account.  Ensure you're logged in to itch and try again

Once again, thank you for joining us on this wild ride!

https://discord.meeplestation.com Here is a discord link where you can speak with us!

It appears that this is a glitch on the itch.io side and you need to get your email hooked up to get your key. If that doesn't work we'll be happy to step in and make sure you get your Steam key, so you can start building a beautiful spaceship of your own
