I just managed to get this running fwiw. My setup is Ubuntu 22.04 and I was trying to run the game through the itch.io desktop app. It’s worth looking through the error logs to make sure you’re facing the same problem and be comfortable with using sudo on the command line, but including it here in case it helps someone.

The first error was around around a missing libcrypto.so.1.0.0, part of libssl. I managed to install it using these instructions. Basically the version of libcrypto the GameMaker runner requires is too old so you need to add another repository to be able to install it.

I then got a different error about it not being able to find the game.unx file. In the file manager I only add Mable_PC and Mable_PC.zip - I just unzipped the latter, which contained an assets folder and in it was the game.unx file. After that I could start the game.

Hope this helps someone - I’m looking forward to actually trying the game!

Agree with others that the build up is too slow, but it plays smoothly and I like the graphic style

Nice minimalist graphics, sound design suits the theme really well, good work!

Indeed very hard but otherwise beautiful stuff.

Nicely done! I found the art endearing but a little hard to read - though in a turned-based puzzle game like this it’s not too big of a problem. As others have said, could do with a more gradual curve and more levels, but great job for a jam game :)

I like the look of it - I only have a trackpad at the moment and unfortunately really struggled to play it because of this.

The art and sound are very effective - creepy and mysterious!

That was fun! Very slick and polished game.

Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback :)

FWIW I’ve also got the issue with the downloads in Firefox and it’s being discussed in this thread: https://itch.io/t/3052863/blocked-itchio-downloads-in-firefox. For others, I’ve also changed my game to accept donations because the download from the page after the donation screen does work for some reason.

I’ve been able to replicate this issue with the following games (only in Firefox as you mentioned):

I’ve now noticed that both of them are set to “No payments” - if I set my game to accept donations then go to the download pages (rather than download from the main game page like you do when “No payments” is set), then the download does work…

Can confirm this is happening to me as well

Thanks for playing and great suggestion 👍

Yeah I’m gutted I had to take the sound out of the web build, I think it sounds pretty good when it’s on but obviously so few people will download it 🤷

The 4 color was just to get those game boy vibes and see if I could make it readable - I’m happy it works but I agree more colors would have made it easier

Thanks for the feedback!

Damn that’s a pretty good idea - maybe when I make Komodo’s Revenge 👾

There’s sound in the downloadable version! Just had to remove from web build because it caused the game to freeze, I think a bug in the engine, hoping to get to the bottom of it later

Thanks so much!

The background is actually just a big hand drawn texture that’s wider than the canvas, repeated but shifted along the x axis by different amounts so the repetition isn’t too obvious!

If you’re interested in the detail, this is the actual image and the code is here and here.

Lowrez, 1-bit and only one button - really fun game made under some really tight constraints. Good work!

Cute little puzzler, and I love how the green dude looks kinda annoyed with you when you shrink him. Felt maybe a little “loose”, I wasn’t always sure if I’d found the correct solution or if it was a fluke. Still pretty fun though! I couldn’t figure out what was going on with levels 5,6,7 and the red things but I skipped to the boss and enjoyed that.

The music is SO INTENSE. I love it. Using a pack of 64 emojis is inspired. The gameplay feels authentic. Good job!

Thanks a lot!

Thanks for playing and for the feedback - means a lot coming from someone who’s a fan of the genre too! I think I’ve fixed that bug you mentioned with the no more enemies spawned (I hope that’s not breaking jam rules, it’s a 2 line change) - I think you’d actually reached the boss fight! But it was tied to a music queue and so it just stopped appearing when I disabled the music.

Thanks so much for playing it and reporting the issue - I did a last minute change to remove the music on web builds because it was causing crashes, and forgot the appearance of the boss is tied to the music queue - I’m not sure if I’m breaking any jam rules with this but I’ve pushed a quick fix.

Thanks again!

Thank you, and thank you for the gentle encouragement to take part and for helping put this team together :)

Haha yes I left the collision boxes debug in, it’s fun that you found it :) Thanks for playing and sticking with it, glad you got the yarn!

Thanks for playing and the feedback, glad you made it all the way but not on your first try, makes me feel like I got the balance somewhat right :)

Thanks! - If you’re into “auto jumpers” now, the original is probably doodle jump :) https://doodle-jump.io/

Took me a while to work it out too but I there’s some real neat touches here - like how the sun’s health is displayed. I like the risk/reward when trying to hit the sun back and having the option of trying to just run away if you haven’t positioned yourself quite right.

Neat fun concept - definitely some ideas worth exploring there!

Glad to finally get to play this having seen glimpses of it on discord - very challenging (not yet managed the third level) but the movement feels really satisfying

That’s an incredibly impressive entry to the jam - The art and the music are super and the polish is off the charts!

10/10 would click again.

Fun game! Satisfying combos/powers - things flying off and hitting things feel great, and the boost makes you feel powerful. I especially love the sound effect.

Neat concept and pretty fun to play, nice one

No problem, tried yours and rated it too, good work! Thanks for playing!

thanks!

thanks! Wish I could take credit for the art, but I do love it!

totally agree! Thanks for playing and for the feedback 😄

thanks for feedback, totally agree that treats could use some limits!
