Thank you Frank for the great advice! I've implemented some of it, hopefully now the bell and tutorial sound less harsh :) Changing up the sounds depending on the song is a superb idea, I'll look into it.

Yes, I admit there is a lot of guessing involved for people who've never played the original minigame, or Rhythm Heaven at all. Sorry! 😅 The beat counter / metronome widget at the top definitely needs more love, right now it's confusing everyone (me included). Ideally, the smileys should be on top of the numbers and the beats which you're supposed to click on should be properly highlighted; I'll fix all that soon. Thank you for sharing your experience and liking the animation!
If you see bright green smileys and rainbow stars then you're perfectly on beat! Yellow stars mean good but not perfect clicks and red hoops generally indicate you're off beat. Sorry if the controls and the score system are a bit flaky, I haven't fully worked out their formulas yet. Thank you for playing and appreciate the feedback a lot!
Managed to get past the first "Decay check" by spamming the mouse, then I got stuck at the stairs and rage quit :( Although the lack of UI hints and context is a bit irritating, what you did in such little time is impressive! I absolutely dig the eerie atmosphere and art style here. This is the start of something good, do keep polishing this prototype!
What a delightful platformer. I completed it in about 30 mins and I enjoyed it a lot. A few minor issues I found are the bouncy platforms that make a lot of noise when you stand on them and the bg music that doesn't loop after a while in the same section, but otherwise it's a really polished game with a lot of variety in terms of power-ups. Congrats!
Thanks for playing! On that last point, I'm working on a tutorial level right now. Hearing the music is crucial to understanding the click pattern, so if you didn't hear anything it was definitely a bug.
I'm still figuring out the math behind the bumping mechanic, it should put the player back in the exact center of the row while taking the beat into account; this is currently not the case and it breaks the whole gameplay unfortunately :\
My entry is still very much buggy and half-baked, but I hope you'll give it another shot after I add the tutorial and a bit more structure in the next few days.
