It's LMMS. Pretty easy to use for quickly slapping together a simple track

idk if it's just me, but this is sooooo hard

probably one of the only games in here that has some humor

very nice aesthetic & atmosphere

thanks! I use Piskel since it's super easy to use but I should probably upgrade to something more advanced

I don't use color palettes, I just choose the colors as I go along. A general tip to get you started with picking the right colors would just be to keep the saturation of each color around the same.

Yep! It can be used for anything (free or commercial games) and the asset pack isn't exactly finished right now, so feel free to edit/add to the assets to suit your needs!

Solid 1D game, glad spamming doesn't work

Thanks for playing! I added a regular, easier game mode :)

Bam! it now has two modes - regular and hard :)

Minor thing, but originally I didn't even realize the platforms were platforms and thought they were part of the background. One thing I noticed was that the player doesn't move when standing on the moving platform when the platform should move the player when it moves. There are a few ways to fix this, the most common way being to simply set the player as a child object of the platform when touching the platform. You could also just adjust the position or velocity of the player but this way is not as good.

That is outrageous! Please win!!

Also did you make the music yourself?

Ya lol I considered it but didn't have time to implement :( what I was trying to go for was having a prediction of the future of where the boulders are gonna land but it turned out to be more of an indication rather than a prediction, but afterall the theme's just for inspiration and not a requirement

Nice game! I would say the main issue is that there's too much time between dying and respawning. This can be a problem since many barrels require multiple tries. It's also a bit odd that the player doesn't carry on much of its velocity when it jumps. It would also help to move the background a little bit relative to the player, in addition to zooming in/out to give the scene more depth. Just my opinion though! :)

Thanks! Now that I think about it, it would actually be a great idea to make an indication when a boulder can kill you. As it is right now, it kills you while rolling based on how fast it's moving, which is pretty ambiguous.

Cool game! A few issues - you can walk out the window and it doesn't stop you just walking into the emptiness outside. Another thing is that the dog can move forward/background but the sprite only shows it moving right/left.

It was oddly satisfying to push cubes away, similar to the force in Star Wars.

Could have used a little more polishing, but the game is solid. I feel like the boss fight could include some sort of feedback mechanism to show that you're damaging it when you hit it.

I really liked the original mechanic, although it was hard to get water :(

I feel like the controls are a bit complex, especially since the enemies are quite fast. For example, the mechanic for lifting meat is a little hard to do while defending against enemies. I really like the graphics, though.

One of the most solid games on this game jam I've seen. The presentation and execution of the levels and sound design was especially well made. A minor issue in my opinion would be that the scoring system seems to be a bit awkward, especially as the score display is relatively large and is placed in the middle of the screen. For example, it could make more sense if the score was calculated based on number of obstacles then perhaps then it would make more sense to put the score so boldly in the middle. Also I felt the jump sound was a little too loud compared to the background music.

Thanks for playing my game! My original intention was for moving up and down the track to have distinct tradeoffs, while the speed of the game gradually gets faster. I'll keep your suggestions in mind, I really like the rainbow idea!

bruh

jk it's great

Definitely a solid game. Although the concept is simple, the game is able to remain interesting. I like the difficulty curve for the game, and the AI was well made.

Oh noo please don't say that! We're all here to give each other feedback and grow together as a community. :)

Very nice game. I don't know if this was intentional, but although the movement speed is high, the acceleration seems to be a bit slow. This may make the game too hard for some or even a little frustrating.

Your coding skills seem to be ahead of your skills in other areas. Perhaps consider something simpler next time. Other than that, the game mainly has problems with the presentation and music. Also consider improving the color scheme next time. Keep it up! :)

Great game overall, could have used a more creative concept. Be sure to work on the music design next time. :)

Very interesting concept for the tower defense. The game has a real puzzle aspect so perhaps you could try to implement a time gap for the player to set up the lights.

I couldn't rate this game because I didn't know how to navigate the menu.

Music is amazing. The story element was a little bit out of place, but it could be improved to fit the gameplay better. I encountered a glitch at the end of level 3.

A little random, and pretty difficult as well. Could include a tutorial or at least some instructions, especially on the controls.

Very chill vibe. Game me the impression that the game is more suited for a young audience.

The game itself was decent, but it could have used a more clever approach to the theme, if that's something you wanted to go for. Overall, the game had good presentation and looked very clean.

The game doesn't make it clear how to move on after helping the red blob.

Aside from the particle systems, the gameplay was smooth. The use of particle systems overall was not a good choice, given the limitation. Other than that, the game was relatively generic.

Definitely the best game from this jam I've reviewed so far. The somber mood made me feel lonely. Excellent introduction at the start. Very emotional.

Definitely one of the better games I've seen on this jam so far. The graphics are great, although the background for both the menu screens and the game are a little unfitting. The concept of the game is there but the execution and polishing are a little lacking. For example, the continue button has incorrectly sized text. Solid game overall.
