I'm happy your interested, and thanks for the feedback. I hope to start development on the full version fairly soon (i'll make a devlog when i do). Difficulty tuning will definitely be a major focus, as well as a wider variety of defences. And i had plenty of ideas and plans that i had to cut for the sake of time with this version, so i'm looking forward to working on the full one

Thanks for the feedback! the zombies are set to just move forward when they don't have a target, so it's not too surprising they just end up walking off the map, sadly I didn't have time to find a better way to handle their AI. I may revisits this game when the jam is over though, so the heads up is appreciated
Quick note: I also used Zombie and Character sprites/animations made by cuddle bug, but wasn't able to put it in the submission, credits and links are still on the game page tho
After about 8 months of work on and off since posting the original version during the Brackeys game jam 2023.1
my twin-stick shooter/bullet-hell "System Shield" is fully released today!
Fight off an endless horde of bugs to draw out the Virus wreaking havoc on your system and defeat it
You can play it in browser or download it here: https://cmdr-blaze.itch.io/system-shield
Good luck and happy bug hunting!
Very nice game and I had a lot of fun with it. The controls definitely could be better and there were a few puzzles where you could skip solutions with some tricky jumps, but overall a good game that i would love to play more of if you decide to work on it more after the jam, but even if you don't this is a well put together game
I had a lot of fun playing this! I would love to see what you could do with this if you have any plans to work on it after the jam. Really the only major complaints i have is that the explosion sound effect is WAY to loud compared to the rest of the game, and the mouse sensitivity is set to zero by default. There are some smaller things as well like how it doesn't have a pause screen or a quit button and I never found sprinting necessary because you can dodge the bullets just fine with normal speed, and jumping just leads to you getting hit because you can't control your movement to dodge, But none of that significantly impacted my enjoyment. overall very fun
An interesting concept and overall pretty fun but the first enemy is a bit tough, i think making the player a bit faster would be nice, as well as giving the first enemy a little less health and slower fire-rate so the player can learn whats going on before they get killed. It was quite fun after i got past the first 2 enemies though and I think this is definitely a game that could be very good if you choose to work on it further
