Hey,  just released an update if you're interested :) Collecting the coins now unlocks outfits that can be used to customise the character, and added 15 more levels with a new sideways moving goal.

Also some fire themed levels are currently in-progress :P

Hey, thanks so much for the kind words! I appreciate the feedback you gave earlier as well. Similar feedback from other players helped me rework and improve the kick meter.

Aha yeah that's the plan now to have some unlock-ables you can spend those coins on. Is there anything you think would be cool to able to unlock? My initial plan was to have different cosmetics for the player character - clothes, shoes, balls, etc. But also want to see what others are interested in.
Cheers!

Hey, the game has been updated. Still haven't quite figured out to handle the 'overkick' , but the controls overall should feel better and more balanced. If you check it out, let me know what you think. Cheers!

Yeah there’s still balancing needed, especially as I build out new levels.  The 'overkick' is meant to simulate kicking a real ball, which is very easy to over hit, but perhaps there’s a better way to implement. The aim returning down is weird, already removed that in the next version I’m working on. Thanks a lot for the feedback!

Football has gone underground. Test your freekick skills in the depths below!

Freekick Underground is an arcade sports game with simple two-button controls. Aim and power your freekick to score on each of these compact 15 levels.

The game is still in the demo phase, I will be updating it but am looking for game testing feedback at this point.

(This is a simplified but more refined version of my first game 'Pitball')

Cheers for checking out the game and the kind words! That's good feedback about the sound. I'll be looking for different sfx after the jam ;)

This is great! A very clever usage of the theme and a unique gameplay idea. You get 'Portal' vibes at the beginning (which isn't a bad thing) but then the gameplay is totally different. Really nice pixel art as well, gotta respect jam games that also have good art.

Pretty difficult game as well, but you feel clever when you finally solve the puzzle.

Thanks for playing! Yeah when I was testing I realized it was very tricky when the touchpad, I guess it's more of a mouse and keyboard game ;)

Wow thank you so much! And you perfectly got the idea of the game :D A shoot 'em up with a little twist and a different mechanic. I understand that the cursor disappearing when you move is maybe being weird to some people, but you're right that it was to have players adapt to a move, stop, and shoot strategy, which is hopefully more fun and challenging.

Cheers again for checking the game!

Yeah that is intentional as I found it a bit too easy when you could still aim perfectly while moving. Hopefully it works to make it a bit more challenging.

Thanks for checking out the game!

Awesome little game! Simple to pick up and get started with, and then quickly makes you want to keep trying each level. Had some frustrating moments, but I think that's common with these tricky platformers ;) The particles effects really help liven up the graphics.

A  cool minimalist-style roguelite! I like the simple pixel art style, and the music fits very well. So a great job creating something very atmospheric.

Can tell there's a lot of functionality to this game, but it's a bit much for first time players to understand. Maybe it would have helped to reduce the scope a bit and maybe include a tutorial so it's easier for players to get started, and then can always extend after the jam. Just one idea :)

Also kudos on the mobile/touch screen support.

Nice polished game. Got stuck on level 3 though.

Wow super fun and polished game. Played through all the levels and didn't encounter any bugs. Fun art styles and lines of dialogue too.

Fun little game, was satisfying when I eventually landed some hits and blew up the enemies, especially with the nice sounds of the laser bouncing off the mirrors.

Actually found it easier to hit enemies when I had less mirrors and didn't notice the damage decrease as it still looked to be killing them in one shot.

Ah, it might have disappeared out of view of the canvas. I guess it's better off just restarting if you've lost track of the cursor. Free feel to give it another go and just try to keep the cursor inside the canvas view :)

Thanks so much for the kind words and checking out the game!

Hey, thanks! There definitely will be some updates coming!

Thanks for checking out the game and letting me know how you got on!  I'm learning  just how difficult this game can be at the beginning aha.
I'm currently reworking the levels to not be so frustrating . If you're interested you can check out the preview of it here:  Pitball  (pitball-preview.netlify.app). But I'll also be posting something to itch soon as well.
Cheers  again!

A fun little game! The simple one button gameplay is still engaging and challenging, and would be great for mobile as well.
Only thing is I would move the ''retry'' button to where the ''shoot'' button is, that way you don't have to move your mouse up and down every time and it's a smooth one-button experience.
I like the angle of the crazy dad, potential for more story/humor there. The sayings in-between the shots are pretty funny.
The game's pretty damn difficult for me though! I struggle to get pass the second level aha

Haha I had a feeling it could be frustrating at first! The gameplay difficulty is one of the main things I'm trying to figure out. The spin move is your friend in these tight levels,  but maybe it takes more time to learn than I thought aha.

When I was thinking about what stats to track, I did think about a "kick counter" stat for each level, but I actually didn't think so much about a "par" for each level.
That's definitely a cool idea! It'd just have to be not too low so not to stress players out even more :P

Pitball Video Game

Football has gone underground.  Make your way through The Pits with a ball at your feet!

Right there's now 5 levels - run through them, score some goals, and beat your time.

This is my first ever completed game demo. I have so many more ideas for it, so at this point I just want to learn and gather feedback.

Wow such a good little game. The art and UI is great, and the sounds really compliment the game. Then I got hooked into the story, cool sci-fi world building with such minimal dialogue.  Then each round, the puzzle gameplay grew on me more and more.
Great execution on all fronts!

I love grungy train art, but then I got hooked! What a little experience I just went through
