I am unable to travel to the wilderness from the Harmonized Settlement, and it won't let me pick which other elemental settlements to go to from it, it just swaps between fire settlements, without even letting me pick which of those I can go to among the ones I've been to.

I don't think your improvement to knowing why condensation can't be done is as clear as you think it is. I gathered the 0.1 condensed qi it asked for and moved to the cave as it said to do, and the button appeared. but does nothing. I checked the records and milestones, but I couldn't find anything relevant.
So after harmonized village, am I supposed to just spend like 200+ lives cultivating? Because at the rate of Affinity gain I have, that's about how many getting 9% all (technique give around 1%) would take, and I don't see anything else I can be doing yet.
This is multiple actual days worth of doing nothing but cultivating in this, and automation does not account for beast tides, so it needs to be babysitted more than once every half hour. And this is the rate with the best cultivation I have
And that 200+ estimate was based on harmonized village cultivation which you can't spend a whole life doing, unlike other methods. For those you can spend a whole life on, willowbrook cultivation would take about 4x as long, getting progress in an individual element about 2.5x as fast, but needing to be done to all elements individually, and cave cultivation is 1/16x the speed or so
After harmonized village, when crossing lvl 101 with circulate without a dominant sign (the evolved form of the cultivation from there.) I did not get a notification, nor did the level reset, but the cultivation method got a new name and far more powerful, but ONLY on the life screen, and not on the explore screen, where it kept its old name and power. The level and mastery xp is shared between the 2 versions. I feel like progression is borked.
To start with, you absolutely need all of the relevant categories specific upgrades, as well as those for relevant stats.
The strats I used were rushdown tactics where I didn't give em the the chance to call for backup. Here are the ways I've done this:
Omnicellular: just wait till assimilate is ready, if you've upgraded properly, you should have like 2.2k vit, which makes it 1 shot, even if you're missing a couple upgrades, you could additionally prime before using it to really ensure 1-shot.
Multicellular: Have your loadout be all the fortitude-scaling DoTs. Apply a couple relatively minor DoTs, but hold off on unleashing more until you have everything ready at once and they have just started charging a precise shot. Than use specialist strike and every poison DoT at once, they should die before they call for backup
Complex: loadout of the dex-scaling moves, prime-up and specialist strike. Hit em with one of the cillariry moves (don't recall which) making them around 24k hp. Than wait for you moves to charge and for them to start an attack, hit em with specialist strike, prime than fast attack, than spam your combat moves and they should die before they call for backup.
Human doesn't fight them.
None of these took me more than 4 attempts at the fight to figure out.
