Thanks for playing! Yes, we didn't know at the time but apparently Ctrl-W is a shortcut to close the browser tab hahaha. We'll fix that in the next update after the jam. The other artists and I really appreciate the compliments on the art! 💚

Thank you so much! Yes, we wanted to add the frog as an enemy but ran out of time (hehe). We plan on implementing enemies after the jam. Thanks for playing! :D

Thank you so much! 🐸💚

Thank you so much for catching that bug! Luckily we managed to fix it in the first 48 hours, so it should be updated now! :D

Thank you so much for such a thoughtful comment! The food buff/debuff effect is a fun idea! :D

Rated & reviewed! Very spooky! :)

Definitely a spooky atmosphere. The vastness of the home adds to how surreal and strange the place is and adds difficulty when initially finding your bedroom and the tools needed to distract your parents.

The audio also does a good job of establishing an unsettling environment. I did notice that some of the walls didn't fully connect, but I think that you can easily fix this with some edits to the map.

The gameplay itself is a bit buggy (my mouse wasn't contained within the game window and I noticed that the camera moved very slowly compared to my mouse movements, so it was a bit difficult to control movement). However, the core elements are all there and the UI elements are clearly labeled, which helps.

I did manage to defeat the game and get some sleep!

This feels like it would work really well as a classic creepy horror game app (like Baldi's Basics or Hello, Neighbor) or something played on the browser. A little bit of overall polish on the UI elements, fixing small typos, etc. would really elevate the experience. Well done!

Rated and reviewed - I LOVED THIS !!!! Seriously so sick!! Mushroom blasting FPS!!

This is AMAZING!!!! I genuinely had so much fun playing and must say that I don't usually play a ton of FPS games so it was sincerely challenging while still being fun!

The art is incredible - I really really love the environment and the worldbuilding that comes with it. The premise itself is simple, so you become quickly engaged, but the gameplay is fast-paced and leads to levels of strategy. Once I learned that I could jump on top of the heads of the enemies I felt like a genius who unlocked something incredible lol. The mushroom enemy designs are both cute and creepy, I really like them.

The sound design is really well done and the music is so sick. Very well selected.

Honestly feels so polished for only a week-long game jam. I would really love to see this concept expanded with even more areas and enemies. Maybe some really giant ones with weird attack patterns or little swarms of spores, etc.

Loved it!!

Rated & reviewed! You guys did a super impressive job at implementing such a complex roguelike system in only a week!

This is a really impressive demo of roguelike mechanics for only a week-long game jam! The motion design immediately stood out to me as extremely strong and very polished. I managed to progress all the way to the second to final battle on the map, but was sadly taken out by one of the life preservers (ironically, lol). Not sure if this is a bug or just didn't get implemented, but I did notice that when I died, my character disappeared but then nothing else happened. I was stuck on the same battle screen.

A bit more time to polish will make this even more fun. For example, I was a bit confused on what each resource and stat was. I feel like I should be able to hover over each element on screen and get a small pop-up window to describe its effect.  Also, the red text on a dark brown background is a little bit difficult for me to read.

I also really like the idea of the liminal space environment coming alive to attack you. I think that some small tweaks could really emphasize this. Like maybe the environment changing mid-battle or changing the mechanics of the map to be more representative of the space you're in. I did feel a little disconnected from the theme in its current form.

But overall, this is super cool and really impressive. I really started to get the flow and strategy of the attacks near the middle of the map. Roguelikes are very intricate and you made a genuinely fun one in such a short time!

Heyo! I'm really loving all of the games so far! I'd love to play & rate YOUR game - I want to play at least 100 before the review period is over. :) Please leave a link to your game below.

Here is the game my team worked on. I did some art, sound FX, and writing. Let us know what you think :) https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-15/rate/4303025

Amazing! I really have to applaud how smooth of an experience this was, especially for a game jam game. I had a bug-free playthrough and really enjoyed the classic JRPG vibes of the world and story. Quite dark and very strange places indeed!

The art is really amazing, I really loved the simplicity of the pixel art animations and backgrounds that still felt so stylized. The hand drawn 2D sprites are also really beautiful and the character designs are so spooky and amazing. The story and setting are super fitting for the "strange places" theme and felt like a fresh take on a classic perilous place.

The minigames are challenging without getting the player too stuck in one place for too long, which I appreciate. I struggled the most with the first puzzles, but the hint is quite subtle and leads you along a good path ;) I am sure there are other hidden secrets I didn't catch.

The sound design and music are also very beautiful. Your programmer did a great job with the visual motion design, as well.

Overall, a super nice and polished game that I genuinely enjoyed playing and will recommend to my friends. I could totally see this being played by a classic Let's Play YouTuber lol.

This is cool, I'll be sure to tune into your stream. I'm so excited to see what everyone else has made!

Wow, I really love this concept and the execution. The art style is so unique but clean. I love the contrast of the illustrated characters against the photorealistic "They Live" type of TV. The mechanics are also fairly easy to pick up! It almost feels like a rhythm or timing-based game, especially when you start advancing further and constructing more complicated censors. Feels very timely and applicable to a lot of environments globally. Very interesting take on media production and censorship. I really enjoyed this and felt like it was such a solid experience, especially for a game jam creation!

Thank you, Chris! I'll send this to my editors for an update - I appreciate it! :)

Wow, this was so much fun! I can't wait for the full game - so much amazing art and such a fun twist on a deckbuilding roguelike in this little demo. I wrote a little blurb about it for an article: https://www.dailycal.org/arts/video-games/small-studios-big-scares-free-indie-ho..

This is such an amazing experimental piece of narrative. Truly eerie. I wrote a little blurb about it for an article: https://www.dailycal.org/arts/video-games/small-studios-big-scares-free-indie-ho... Thanks so much for developing this incredible piece of art!

I really loved this game - hugely recommend to all of my friend! I wrote a little blurb about it for an article: https://www.dailycal.org/arts/video-games/small-studios-big-scares-free-indie-ho...
Thanks so much for developing this cute bug spelling adventure! :D

This is very sweet. I'm glad that I gave it a read. I really love the art style

This was so cute!! I really loved all of the art - I was so impressed with how detailed and charming it was. The dialogue and writing is also very endearing. I really liked walking around Celia's home and found myself invested in the magical worldbuilding - I wanted to explore the whole town, lol!

I did notice that I sort of slipped around while walking, but I think that I got used to it and it sort of helped me during "combat." :) I thought that Celia and Fen were both very sweet and really liked seeing them interact. I also thought that the magic casting system was pretty cool.

This was so much fun! Can't wait for more!

I really loved this! The idea of combining genres is always appealing to me, and I think that you did an absolutely wonderful job here!

I thought that it was super clever to make the "play game" main menu screen a platformer, although I must admit that I sat there a bit confused for a little while before I figured out what was happening. After that, it went really smoothly and was a lot of fun. I love the combination of art styles that you used for the dinner scene as well as the platformer and was impressed with the sheer amount of content!

Since I was playing on a trackpad, it made everything a little bit more difficult, but I could get through it okay. Left shift was mildly difficult to use but it turned out fine in the end. I really liked the sound effects and found the little touches of feedback (ex: brain juice when you land on the platforms lol!) very nice. I do wish that there could've been some background music playing to help emphasize the romantic environment/add some more atmosphere to the game since all I could hear was brain noises, haha.

Super great job, especially for only a week!

Hahaha, this is very charming!

I really like the concept and theme. The art is incredibly cute and consistent, as well as striking  good chord with the music and SFX. Overall, super cohesive and with a good mood.

One small suggestion that I have is to flip the character sprite when they turn left or right when moving. Right now they just face left the whole time and it's obviously not a huge deal, but it's a small change that could add a lot in the long run.

I also felt like the enemies attacked VERY quickly and sometimes jumped out of nowhere. Perhaps this was intentional, but considering that it took so long for me to retrieve my needle to attack, I wish that they either had more of a lead-up to the attack or that I had more cover to hide behind in preparation for my own.

I did really love the grapple hook mechanics of the needle. That was super clever and cute, very well done! I think that you can expand it even more and have the player use it to climb walls, solve puzzles, etc. So cool!

This was a very neat idea, especially for a week-long game jam!

I love the theme and the music - it definitely helped set up the fun concept of the narrative! I feel like mail delivery is an under-utilized concept in media and you clearly had a lot of fun with it.

I thought that the combat system definitely added more content to this particular submission, but I think that if you wanted to expand it, you could actually remove it and emphasize other traits of being a courier! As other comments stated, using more of your wits, making hard decisions, maybe leaning more into the visual novel or text adventure territory could be kind of neat?

I also wish that there had been some kind of a basic "How-To" or tutorial screen to help me get adjusted to the mechanics since I ended up wandering around for a few minutes without a letter to deliver lol. But I LOVE how traveling over certain terrain impacts your speed, sleep levels, etc. That was very very neat. It's no big deal since this is a game jam submission, but I also would've loved to see some more art for the monsters/player/etc.

Overall this was incredibly cool and I can definitely see it becoming fleshed out in the near future, although it was honestly very fun in the current stage!

Wow...this is incredibly beautiful in a way that I cannot succinctly describe, although I will do my best.

Even with it being a relatively short experience, I felt so many emotions that I cannot describe. The loneliness of self. Of nothingness. But also the beauty of life and creation. I loved the simplicity of the art and the poetic text. Everything was strung together in a way I can only describe as harmonic. The music also added a lot to the experience and was very melancholy.

I also really enjoyed being able to read the story of my universe at the end. It was very heartfelt.

One potential bug that I encountered was when the storms had disappeared from my sun. Because it was placed in the top right corner, the screen went to focus on the storms and then remained there. I couldn't move the camera and the rest of my beautiful universe could not be seen. :( I wish that I could've had the ability to pan across my entire universe.

Also, the black hole is incredibly powerful, although I think that it's appropriate for this scenario.

Just a beautiful concept. I love card games and I can see this becoming an indie icon after a bit of polishing. I will definitely recommend it to everyone that I can.

Oh no, it did not taint my experience at all! I really loved the story and think that it was a good use of the mechanics you had in the constraint of time! :) Genuinely, y'all did a fantastic job and I appreciated the self-reflection that Salmon went through at the end. <3
