  • The writing in this game is exceptional, if felt like I was traveling with an omnipotent, existential novelist. Using the perspective of the void was very clever and formed an interesting kinship with the player. I love space and really enjoyed seeing the different cards along with their interactions. The pencil and scribble artstyle fits this game better than I could have anticipated, and the music was a great addition although it was not an original work. A super creative game and a job well done --- This game was incredibly unique -- the visual style was very memorable, and I thought it fit perfectly with the feel + writing of the game. I'm so impressed by the volume of writing here and depth of interaction. There were some really fun surprises too, love the Space Whales! --- 34/40

Wow...this is incredibly beautiful in a way that I cannot succinctly describe, although I will do my best.

Even with it being a relatively short experience, I felt so many emotions that I cannot describe. The loneliness of self. Of nothingness. But also the beauty of life and creation. I loved the simplicity of the art and the poetic text. Everything was strung together in a way I can only describe as harmonic. The music also added a lot to the experience and was very melancholy.

I also really enjoyed being able to read the story of my universe at the end. It was very heartfelt.

One potential bug that I encountered was when the storms had disappeared from my sun. Because it was placed in the top right corner, the screen went to focus on the storms and then remained there. I couldn't move the camera and the rest of my beautiful universe could not be seen. :( I wish that I could've had the ability to pan across my entire universe.

Also, the black hole is incredibly powerful, although I think that it's appropriate for this scenario.

Just a beautiful concept. I love card games and I can see this becoming an indie icon after a bit of polishing. I will definitely recommend it to everyone that I can.

I'm so glad you liked the game. Thanks for the kind words.

When you say you couldn't move the screen, do you mean the WASD controls for the camera stopped working?

Again, I'm super glad you liked it.

Really fun game. There are so many objects and so many possibilities for storytelling. Great work! Keep it up!

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I really liked your game! The simulation was great and it was really cool seeing the end game history of all the events that occurred. It was awesome seeing the different ways cards interacted with one another. I'll place the puppies further away from the black hole next time.

Developer

Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed the events. There's a lot of them, though not as many as I'd like. And yeah, that blackhole can be brutal.

First of all, I LOVED the concept. It was very unique and interesting, having this little sandbox filled to the brim with existentialism and even touching concepts of the self and loneliness. Plus, being able to place the cards wherever you want made it feel like some sort of sims like game or even one of those "Create your own adventure" type of books, which also gives it some appreciated replay value. A really nice touch was the final summary of your journey, as if it was, indeed, a book. Fantastic idea.

The simple yet wholesome design, as if it was hand-drawn over a white paper, reinforces the concept of "vast nothingness" and I really enjoyed that.

I had two tiny problems though. Maybe it's because I played the browser version, but my audio only came from the left ear (or at least it was very low on the right one, I don't know) and I got a soft lock in my second run because I only had personal cards to choose and I had no cosmic card to put them on (that black hole is super buffed, so I'd suggest maybe giving it some sort of mechanic to prevent soft locks like stopping it from eating the last cosmic card that accepts the personal cards you have in your deck).

Great experience over all ^^

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for all the feedback.

I'm not sure about the audio issue, but the soft locking was something I definitely realized could happen. Unfortunately, it came a little to late in the jam and I couldn't account for it well. I tried a couple hacky fixes, but with the blackhole nothing is for sure.

But again thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
