  • The story is so heartwarming and the artstyle is very unique and charming. The controls are novel take and it did feel like you were a letter in the wind, sometimes it got a bit frustrating though haha. Nice job! --- Super cute! I like the story and it's very cohesive in terms of mood. This really warmed my heart. Movement/controls was really interesting as well, I haven't seen something like this before. --- 32/40

I really loved the concept of the game! It was cool switching between different characters, like the umbrella man being able to walk through the rain, and the idea of having checkpoints at each of the mailboxes. I also really liked the aesthetic and the cute message :3.

One critique I have is that while for the most part, it seemed that the things I couldn't pass through had a black outline, but their were some exceptions (like the tree trunk, bushes, and cloud) that made it a little confusing/inconsistent. Other than that nitpick, fantastic game, and I would love to see how the game is developed in the future (if that is planned) :D

That's a very fair point, I will work on being a bit more clear with what is collidable. Glad you like that game! Thank you for playing!

Everything in this game felt so unique, from the art style to the gameplay. The difficulty was really well paced and the checkpoints were frequent enough so it was never annoying if you died. The level design was also really good in how it utilized the enemies and hazards to make it challenging. Really great work!

Glad you liked the game! Thank you for playing!

This game was sooo aesthetically pleasing and well done, and the whole idea and story of this game is so heartful 😥I can't describe how nice it felt playing this game and the mood that it gave me. ^^

I'm so happy to hear that! Sending all the good vibes, we all could use some in these times. Thank you for playing!

I really like the paint canvas aesthetic and music of the game! One thing I would have liked was to be able to see more of the environment on the screen to make sure the little letter guy isn't about to run into a hazard haha

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the game! I was thinking the same thing as I was getting to the end of the game jam but sadly it was too late to mess with that. Something I'll keep in mind for future projects. Thank you for playing!

Really cute game! Love how the art style is in a child-like manner, really emphasizes the innocent nature of the game! I love how the mechanics flow well with wind currents making the letter fly and the various obstacles that get in your way like the birds and the water! Controlling other characters was also very unique and I didn't expect that I would be able to do that! Also loved the ending :)

My only feedback is to make the respawn points more forgiving. I kept getting eaten by birds and had to restart from a far away checkpoint, which did get somewhat frustrating. Overall, great job!

Glad you like the game! Last-minute I did introduce smaller mailboxes but I've noticed a lot of people missed some so it's my bad. I Will definitely work on a better checkpoint setup in future games. Thank you for playing!

This was a really nice game, I love the art style, the music, and the slow pace to the game. My only complaint is that the controls don't feel super satisfying, maybe the directional keys could've controlled the direction of the character? Anyways, it was a really fun game, and I really enjoyed it! :)

I'm glad you liked it! Will definitely work on a better control scheme for future games. Thank you for playing!

Glad you liked the game! Good to hear that all the elements came together so well. Fair point about the birds, will make sure that they're slowed down a bit to make the game a bit fairer. Thank you for playing!

If you have water on floods inside your home, please seek help. Lol. But very good and enjoyable game.

Glad you enjoyed the game! That last house definitely needs some renovations. Thank you for playing!

Great job! I loved the art style, I don't think I've ever seen something quite like it with the hand-drawn "fuzzy" sprites. I really liked the look of the character sprites especially with their cut-out white outline style. I also found it to be a great incorporation of the theme and it was a lot of fun to reach the characters at the end of levels and walk around through their environments. I guess as one piece of feedback, which may not really be a problem, I didn't realize the smaller mailboxes in the main levels acted as checkpoints until right near the end of the game which meant I mostly started from the beginning of the levels  when I died.  It was a lot of fun though!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the game! The little mailboxes ended up being a last min addition after having some friend playtest the game. Should have emphasized their existence a bit more, something for the future I'll take note of. Thank you for playing!

I've played 7 or 8 games and this is easily my favorite. The art style is beautiful. The music is beautiful.

I love that there are checkpoints along the way so you don't have to re-spawn from the very beginning.

I love the representation of different families, cultures, and connections--and it resonates with the theme of connection.

I love the control and gameplay. Drifting on the breeze as a game mechanic is a clever idea.

The final level (75-100) was a real challenge, but it forced you to master the controls. The ending was really well done, too.

I think the only thing that would make the game a better experience for me would be if the camera were zoomed out a bit. I like being able to see the detail of the beautiful art, but I can enlarge the player if I want to see the detail. It was a bit frustrating trying to avoid environmental hazards with such a zoomed in screen.

Congrats on a very well done game! Kudos!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the game! The camera was something that I thought could have been fixed but it was just a little too late in the game jam to tweak it.  Definitely will be a lesson for future jams.

it's okay; it did add to the challenge!
