Do people actually give feedback in this sub? Or maybe there's not too many fans of tactics :(

Hey!
The game I made is based on old school TBT games like FF tactics and Tactics Arena Online or XCOM. I've been having a hard time finding an audience despite efforts on social medias and such. Thankfully the few people who find the game and are into the genre really love it, but I'd love to hear from people who aren't familiar with tactics and let me know what sort of barrier to entry you're feeling.
Like League of Legends, there is a certain amount of knowledge of champions you need to have, but to me that's just incentive to play & learn. So I'm curious if anything ELSE is a problem for new players.
Hey everyone!
I used to work as a composer for radio and tv jingles/ads as well as some tv shows and movies. I actually produced several tracks from the Totally Spies movie a while back.
For my game, I decided to try my hand at dark synth/techno since the theme is very dystopian/cyberpunk.
This first track plays in the lobby/when you first open the game:
And this one plays in incredibly rare events. About 1 in 1000 games you play in PvP has a chance to spawn an abyss monster to witness the game. The player who wins that game earns the special monster as a playable champion. I wanted to have something that felt really dark/ominous for that event:
I'd love some feedback on these. Given that the game only has a free demo right now, I didn't really get a chance to show this music to many people.
Hey everyone!
If you're into chess or old school tactics games like Final Fantasy Tactics, XCOM or Tactics Arena Online, I've made a spiritual successor to these games I sincerely think you'll love. The game is called Athelan Battlegrounds and can be played in browser here: https://athelangames.itch.io/athelan-battlegrounds
Real player agency, champions with unique skills and a gameplay that'll make you burn some serious brain calories!
Build your teams of champions and queue up against other players or against our AI in this free game. No pay to win! I really hope I can find some tactics fans because those who have found us so far have had a blast :D
I've already hosted a few tournaments with cash prizes where we live streamed the whole thing with shoutcasters and it was awesome! If you hone your skills enough, you could take part in future tournaments. You can watch a tournament here:

I am a brand new developer on itch.io and so I am not familiar with how promoting your game works here, but it would mean a lot to me if you gave the game a try and upvoted if you enjoyed the gameplay. I know tactics games like these are not for everyone, but I really REALLY care about making a solid game, for free, for fans of the genre. Any support would be greatly appreciated!
Hey everyone! My PvP turn-based tactics game is finally on itch.io. If you enjoy chess or games like FF tactics, you'll love the complexity that Athelan Battlegrounds offers. It's really something to sink your teeth in.

Having worked with a Chinese publisher who helped us review the localization we had made by a third party, it seems there are some important nuances to consider when translating that can lead to the translations feeling confusing/low quality for native Chinese players. They seem to be particularly picky about it and when you're an indie dev with limited resources, it's hard to validate that it's been done well.
Personally, I went with it anyway because the Chinese audience on Steam is HUGE and any indie dev would be making a bad call NOT to localize their game in Chinese.
Another thing is that not every indie dev knows how to manage a localized game. Every game update means every language supported needs to be updated. It's rough. However Chinese and Russian are two localizations where the native speakers really care about having the game in their own language. It's worth the effort!
Hey everyone!
I'm Michael, an old fart who decided to make an old school game. Myself and a friend of mine set out to make a highly complex PvP turn-based tactics which we finally got working on itch.io.
This is my first time using this platform and I wish I had know about it years ago. I used to be big into newgrounds.com games and this feels like an improved version where indies can publish really cool games for people to enjoy.
I sincerely hope I'll be able to find some audience here.
More about me; I'm a musician at heart. I composed all the music for my game as well as a whole piano album back in my 20s. I also used to workout a lot, but now I do the opposite, I just cook good fancy food and eat it (without the working out part).
I've been browsing the thread and man oh man are there a lot of cool gems to check out. If I ever get bored playing Path of Exile 2, I'll know where to look next!
