Man, I really enjoy the game's art style, graphics and motion are wonderful! In terms of actual gameplay I couldn't get very much accomplished,  and the ladder controls being placed directly beneath the WASD directional controls made two handed play a bit awkward. I only mention that because the game looks and feels awesome, so tweaking details like this in the gameplay would result a really great build! But those are always the hardest bits to get down, for a month-long project y'all built a really cool game. There is also the chance that I just suck at this game, so take it with a grain of salt lol

It's supposed to be played with the arrow keys like Celeste! I thought it would have been more intuitive, my fault. Will fix it. Thank you so much for your feedback. I still had a lot to polish when the deadline arrived, but I will deliver a way more satisfying build once the voting period ends. I'm pretty sure if you play with the right hand on the arrow keys you will get to the second stage (which has a different, also amazing artwork by our artist Ana). Still, I will add that remark to the controls section since I can't edit the build to make WASD not work. Thank you again!

Ooooooh OK that makes much more sense! My fault for not reading the directions closer

Lovely looking vegetables and well on theme with a ladder as a weapon and a tool that can scale in length.

I'm not sure if there is more to the game than the original level with 3 platform heights?
Without healing that is as high as I got. There also doesn't appear to be any way of restarting when you are dead? Also the game could use some audio as a finishing touch.

Swinging the ladder was a lot of fun so great job !

Thank you so much! Honestly, those things are indeed missing because I hadn't got enough time to work on the game as I would have wished. I will try to polish everything more and deliver a more complete experience after the voting period ends, maybe even with some narrative. Nevertheless, thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad you still had fun :)

Nice game. The idea of the ladder mechanic is cool. I think it would be amazing if you add some menu or make the player click anywhere to start the game (hope you get what I mean) so that the player won't get startled by the sudden attack right at the start of the game.

Thank you! That's actually a bug from the WebGL build I wasn't able to fix on time (we built it 2h before deadline lmao). In the regular build, enemies stay idle until you get on the same platform as them so you have some peace until the first one spawns in front of you, but for some reason (I think related to poor physics calculation on browser build) they mark you as their target before waiting for physics to load and tell them the platform they're on. Will fix it with a guard clause once the voting period ends. Nevertheless, a menu would be a nice add too. Thank you for your feedback!

This is a really fun game! I love that the ladder swings slower as you get a bunch of steps - it's a good nerf. I think it'd be cool if you could create multiple ladders, since there were times I was knocked down by a scallion and couldn't get back up. The artwork is awesome and gives the game a really unique feel. Overall you did a great job!

Developer

Thank you so much! I'm glad you noticed that, it's basically ruined in the WebGL build for some reason and the nerf is almost non-existant until max size and then suddenly kicks all of sudden. Will try to fix it in the future. Multiple ladders is an idea we hadn't thought of! That could be crazy in a great way tbh. Thank you so much for your feedback!

really enjoy the painterly visuals of this game, and the story of the war of leeks and scallions is also very interesting.

Developer

Thanks! You're the first one that mentions the little story, we'll delve more into it if we further develop the project after the voting period ends :)

Pretty similar experience as others. A little tricky with some of the gameplay - like climbing and stepping off a ladder. The first platform up - there wasn't quite enough clarence for my big veggie head, and the second platform just seemed to be a little out of reach. The fighting mechanics worked well, though.

And after reading that this Ana's first go at graphic assets for a game -- Brava! Wow! 'Cuz everything has this great watercolor look to it.

Developer

Thank you! Yeah I definitely have to polish it a lot, but she's so talented tbh

Thank you so much! :)

Artwork is amazing! Neat mechanic as well, having an ever growing ladder as a weapon was a fun idea. Nicely done!

Thank you much!!

The graphics are amazing!

Thank you so much! They were made from scratch for the game by Ana, our artist <3 it's the first time she draws for a game

Good job, the mechanics are simple and work really well ! I also LOVE the artworks !

Developer

Thank so much! It's cool to hear it from you since your game is one of the best looking I've seen so far!
