How does your game fit the theme?
You toggle from 3D and 2D view in order to complete each level/puzzle. The physics is broken because some jumps in 3D is impossible but possible in 2D and vice versa. This is due to the fact that there is no depth in 2D!

A fresh puzzle challenge game 🎮🔄.

GAMEPLAY
This game stands out with its unique 3D/2D concept, bringing a fresh perspective to puzzle-solving. Although the theme of broken physics might not be really strongly represented, the innovative idea shines through, making the puzzles engaging. The game could benefit from a bit more in-game guidance maybe. The simplistic graphics focus the player's attention on the gameplay, which is the heart of this game, although there's room for visual enhancements in future updates to enrich the player's experience. The puzzles were fun to solve and the idea unique. Did need to check you video for level 3😅.

ART STYLE / VISUALS
The graphics are simple, aligning the focus on the gameplay rather than visual allure. However, some post-processing or visual polish in future updates could elevate the aesthetic appeal, complementing the innovative gameplay.

AUDIO / SOUND DESIGN
The audio track suits the game well, though it might become a tad repetitive over time. Incorporating more sound effects (SFX) and visual effects (VFX) could add depth to the audiovisual experience, making the gameplay more immersive and dynamic.

THEME
Touched upon lightly but it is in there. Could maybe even be more but checked.

In conclusion, this game presents a compelling concept that melds 3D and 2D dimensions to create a unique puzzle-solving experience. Was a real fun unique game in this jam to play. Job well done and a solid base for future improvements and updates and maybe some more levels💪😄🙂!

Really cool concept.  I watched your play trough video to understand how to finish the 3rd level.  It seems important to jump forward in 3d mode before continuing in 2d.

I guess you keep your same 3d-depth once you enter 2d. Unfortunately this is not always clear, leading to you falling of things you thought you stand on.

I think it can be quite difficult to get the transition between 2d/3d properly but it was a very nice experiment to play.

Developer

yes, you z axis does not change in 2d view. :)

Developer(+1)

your z axis is not supposed to change in 2d view because there is no depth. so you would not be on the same thing you stood on in 2d unless you were already aligned with it. its not supposed to be possible to do that anyways.

Pretty neat game, kind of wish that when you switched to the 3D mode you would always be standing on the thing you were standing on in the 3D mode. It was a neat concept and really cool to see pulled off in a game jam but needed a little bit more polish.

I played the game in a video and spoke what I was thinking, was a little tired and I messed up the audio balancing but hopefully there is some useful stuff in there for you.

Thanks for making and uploading this game, really cool idea!

Developer

hi, standing on where you were in 2d makes no sense because you can’t move depth in 2d. This is a common misunderstanding of dimensions and is a feature. Also part of the puzzle. 👍

You can't move depth in 2D, however you could technically change depth without the player realising. It is a little bit unintuative for the player to switch from 3D to 2D and then no longer be standing on a platform I think. This is something that Fez does as you change the viewing angle. Pretty cool game though, these things are definitely something I would consider exoerimenting with if you are planning to move forward with this neat game idea.

Developer

I don’t think so because you can’t move your z axis in 2d. It doesn’t exist. So you need to be aligned with the correct z axis in 3d view. Fez is not a 2d + 3d platformer/puzzle game, it is a 2.5d game which is a mix of 2d and 3d art, not a mix of the mechanics. But I see where you are coming from. If changing to 2d and back changes the z axis, it defeats the purpose of puzzles since it would be really easy.

I think that you would have different puzzles rather than easier puzzles, the challenges would have to come from the interaction of the different world views and the limitations that are oppossed upon you by them rather than the difficuly that comes from dropping down when switching views which imo is more of a frustrating kind of challenge than mental exercise.

Great idea, very nicely done, I feel like the jumping was a little bit hard in the 3d mode because of the colliders, I could only jump when I was fully on the box underneath, idk if this was planned or not, otherwise I really enjoyed it

Developer(+1)

Hi, you can jump as long as you are more than 30% on the platform.

Ok, in that case great game, nothing to complain about then

Nice concept, left you a comment on the game's page.

Good job on it :D

Wow this is a hard but clever game. Well done! I have to admit I needed your video to complete the levels.

Developer

:D enjoy.

This game has the largest focus on the theme out of any game that I've played so far in the jam, it's quite satisfying figuring out a puzzle after some brain confusion!

Developer

Ty! If you couldn’t finish any, watch the YouTube video!

I like it. Everything is perfect except polishing. Great job tbh

Really cool game. It made my brain hurt in a good way. There is loads that could be done to extend it and I think it would be well worth further development. Kudos

Impressive game! I love the level complete banner.
