The opening with the still frames didn't really resonate with me. I was surprised to find that there was an actual game after that. By all impressions it was just going to be another bad visual novel. So, the gameplay itself was rather samey. You walk around, find stuff, avoid monsters. Rinse and repeat. The setting is pretty cool and I can appreciate that you were building a team of plucky adventurers venturing where they shouldn't.

I like the teen'ish conversation at the beginning and the overall look of the school. Tried to relive my friend but died attempting. Nice game.

Per my son, "Horror, uhhh make something scary or I'm just gonna gGRRrraaahhah! Theme: I liked the theme. You really followed the theme. Creativity: You get a five because not a lot of people made a game this way. It was a reading game then it was a full on action game. Why did you make it so hard to live? It was just latching onto us. I liked how they drew lines to show us who was speaking."

This was interesting, but I didn't like it wasn't full screen.  And it seemed too dark, I couldn't really see in a lot of areas.

Well, I just tried it out for the first time and I gotta say that the atmosphere and controls felt really good. I wasn't exactly scared of the Turd Leeches until they started biting me, and I then realized that those things were a legit threat in the dark. Overall not a bad game, but the lighting could be a little better.

As much as I wanted to love this game, it came with two big issues:

  • It crashed on me regularly. Don't have a single idea why.
  • Once a leech locks-on to player, there is very little can be done to break away.

I can tolerate may other things like obscure puzzles, insta-killing jumpscares, lack of map or any navigation altogether, foreboding omnipresent darkness that makes seeing ones surroundings next to impossible, but these two made the game next to unplayable despite all my attempts at actually enjoy the project.
It's spooky, it is bloody, but it is a tad too uneasy to play.

Hi, thank you for the feedback! I've just pushed an update that should have fixed at least two critical errors during gameplay. Basically the respawn mechanic didnt reset specific trackers that would throw crashes when said trackers try retrieving objects that don't exist anymore. I unfortunately don't have/know if any other crashes are occurring as Godot doesn't provide error tracking on exported games. As for the leeches, I have modified their mechanics somewhat. I disabled the stunlock effect that they put on the player and implemented some more conditions that encourage them quit pursuing you if they dont have line of sight. Other slight improvements were added with the time I had after my day job and I intend to improve some other parts of the game soon.

I am aware that the game is rough around the edges. I didn't have much time or opportunity to playtest the game before the deadline as a large amount of that time was spent programming from scratch, asset creation/population and figuring out how sound design is supposed to work. Regardless, I do appreciate the feedback as this is pretty much my first game, and design principles are very foreign to me. I hope to improve from the experiences everyone has with the game.

A really spooky game with solid art and gameplay, but a rather hard difficulty level. The blood transfusion and puzzle-solving elements are really cool, especially with harvesting from the weird growths, but it was easy to get stuck by 2 of the crawling critters and be cornered somewhere. The sound design was also too quiet ambiance with too loud injury sfx, but it functioned well enough to let players know what was occurring.  I really enjoyed the creepy vibe though, and the chasing/hiding elements of this game are super interesting, I just can't get far enough into the game to revive any of the characters to finish it. I really like how unique the gameplay is on this though, it's honestly such a cool game and was produced well.

Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback! This is the first game made between me and my friends. It's reassuring to know that the concept of the game is interesting. I have gotten feedback that the game is rather difficult, and I'm considering putting out an update sometime later this week to refine their behavior among some other glaring issues I've discovered after I submitted the entry.
