Ranked from 17 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

What modifiers did you use?
Fluxus (huge inspiration behind art direction and story)
butts (play to find 'em, they're critical to the plot)
Perform a Blood Sacrifice (features were cut!))

How would you consider this game to be Pompous Trash?
Pompous - What are butts? What are holes? What is anime? We seek to answer these life's questions.
Trash - Everywhere. It takes place in a dump. We source a shitton of random textures.

It's completely pompous in design, its the second UNFAULTED TYPE NARRATIVE EXPERIENCE in the world. Players are shown that there has been a ton of effort and care into the work itself without caring for the NPC's (you).

This game is literally a mirror of how I feel while jamming on video games while also capturing the feeling of watching anime on adult swim stoned late saturday nights

Did you accomplish your goal?
Yes! But at the cost my sanity, and some additional time to iron out the experience after the submission deadline.

What was your goal for creating this game?
We wanted to create a conceptually complete adventure game, and we did it! I wanted to make a game that not only has a full adventure but a complete inversion of that is reflective of our relationship with consumption and creation while also exploring my personal contrast between being full of myself and feeling empty

The exploration and graphics are so chill and the NPCs are so funny and the music is so chill dude and using a FISHING ROD as a GRAPPLING HOOK is one of the best game mechanics ever created. Story made me understand I am fish (me), and neon gemesis on the sega saturn

I DIDN'T KNOW THERE WAS ANOTHER UNFAULTED TYPE NARRATIVE e x p e r i e n c e IN THE WORLD!!

And yet...

...the ethereal emanations encapsulated within the very essence of this ludic opus evoke an unparalleled resonance—a harmonious convergence that orchestrates an exalted symphony of sensory engagement. The stratified dimensions of its offering are marked by the resplendent trinity of the tridimensional textual manifestations, a resonant testament to the mettle of its artistry; an auditory tapestry woven with such unparalleled mastery that it transcends the auditory realm to caress the very soul; and the serene benediction of a temperate ambiance that graces the enterprise with an aura of equanimity.

Let us not overlook the intricacies—the very tapestry—of the character iconography, evoking visages reminiscent of the illustrious tradition of animated aesthetics. Behold, a metatextual engagement befitting the effulgence of the anime pantheon, a symposium of dialogic provocation poised to incite ponderance. And in the diorama of narrative progression, the pantheon unfolds: cutscenes endowed with cinematic grandeur, a choreography of fluidity attendant to movement controls, the nuanced ballet of fishing rendered accessible through an interface that is nothing short of magisterial.

The mise-en-scène warrants its own commendation, the design of the environment an ode to the very zenith of creative ingenuity. An innovation christened the whirlpool launcher bespeaks the heights of audacity reached, and the core holding effect confers an indelible sophistication to the ludic milieu, transcending mere functionality.

And lo, a lustrous allusion to Nier enshrines itself within the narrative tapestry, underscoring the intellectual gravitas interwoven within the fabric of this experience. The zenith of this treatise emerges—a triumphant crescendo heralding its completeness—embodied within the encapsulation, the very synthesis, of each hallowed attribute.

Yet, even within this sublime choreography of virtues, a note of plaintiveness finds its place. For, as the Sisyphean cycle would have it, the piscatorial mechanism, alas, faltered in its execution. An unforeseen bug, a capricious digital imp, marred the fruition of the angling endeavor—requiring the orison of a reset, rendering the reel impotent in its function. A restart was required.

Thus, the ineffable apotheosis of this veritable opus, brimming with laudable elements, yields to the frailties of the technological medium—a humble reminder of the inescapable contingencies that temper even the most transcendent of ludic forays.

An unequivocal imperative has crystallized—needing to be pursued with unwavering determination and resolute dedication—the meticulous refinement and subsequent ascent of this experiential masterpiece into the pinnacles of video game veneration, those elevated echelons reserved for the most illustrious and renowned titles within the digital realm.

If the reel wasnt working after a reset try rotating it counter clock wise!

It didn't work in any direction - it wouldn't let me click on the middle part

...until I reset the game!

Also yeah I immediately used the fluxus energy to edit the submission after I saw INYF

I am in love with the concept and visuals here. Fishing rod centric mechanics as the core loop are something I would pay real pompous money to play (please contort every game mechanic possible into something fishing based, i will be hooked). Delicious trash 🤌🎣🗑

If you didn't see the full game, take a look at a longplay we recorded!

It's so fun to move in this!

Outstanding visuals👌

Wonderful controls👌

Also, did I really win?

I did not expect that ending though. WWE would be proud 👏

rotate counter clock-wise, ah I see your "counter-intuitive ways". I was able to get 4 cores, but I dropped the last one in the ocean, luckily I was able to trigger the cut-scene by pushing it to the Mech.
it loaded the smoking Mario cut-scene but I think it was supposed to load a different cut-scene.
Also really enjoyed the supreme/gold fishing rod catching anything from a great distance.

Developer(+1)

oh weird! yeah there's a whole 2 levels after you collect the 5 cores, and it is supposed to load a different one.
I know the games long so we have a longplay up if you wanna check out that content

its fine as an idea but there's no clear instructions as far as the fishing and objectives go.

well yeah
dog the world is ending and you are dumb fish npc

Thank you!!

Are they ears? Are they hair? Either way that character is cool.

It could even be a hat! Who knows!

I unironically love the look you went for. The aesthetic is so quintessentially 90s to me.
I didn't have very much time to play but I'll be revisiting to see the content I missed!

Thanks! We put a lot of effort into getting Unity to stop looking like Unity
