beat the game in 26 days ^^" i'm agree that boxing is not fun, but it's a game about stat and training!

Thanks for playing Training Arc to completion! I didn't think that many would since I also thought the boxing needed a ton of work. Appreciate you seeing the game through a different lens.

I'm cheering for y'all to go really far up in the rankings this jam :)

It is a cool idea for a mobile tycoon game, maybe you need to polish it so that you can introduce a more thought process strategy, and a choose factor, now it is just the egg game until you can buy everything and have enough strenght to beat the boxer before larry in 3 or 2 hits, then spam that + buy "+1 on all stats" from the store until you have enough streght to hit larry.
The avoid button does practically nothing because I get hit anyways.

Really cool concept and impressive you did this alone.

I had to beat tf out of larry

Developer

T_T can't believe you beat Training Arc.

I think your criticisms are very valid and I that you're correct in saying that games made for jams should be a bit more polished vs having a lot of content. I'll work better for next time! I'll take in account your advice.

Thank you so much for playing the game to completion :)

It's a good idea, but as a developer I would not usually focus on making a minigame-game simply because of the divided attention. I had a few bugs in the workout stage where I could fall through the floor or die out of nowhere, and all the other minigames did not feel as polished. In my opnion if you focused more on the actual boxing and maybe like 1 additional minigame to show teh training it would have given you more time to spend polishing those stages.

I really dig the art style though, but it could have been even better if focused on a smaller area

Mac version doesn't seem to be a build, but an archive of the project contents.

The fighting was very hard! I could not see when I was going to get hit or when I would hit. The outcome of the exchanges felt a bit random. Maybe you should have focused on just a few of all the available activities and polished it more! For jams in general I think a small but well made scope is more appreciated than lots of stuff that lacks a bit of polish.

You've made a cute game here though, I felt for my guy, he didn't do well in life lol :D

Thank your for the honest response!

I agree, a smaller scope would have allowed me to polish the core of the game: boxing. I think for next time I should have put more polish into the feedback of punches and feeling like the punch did damage to the enemies. A lesson learned for the next jam I suppose.

Thank you for taking the time to play and review Training Arc :)

The game looks great and very original, decent audio/music. Game play didn’t feel great though, I think the controls could be improved a lot.

I did not feel there was a strategy I could employ during fights to win, opponents just kept spamming hits. Very hard to get close without being hit, there’s no staggering when receiving a hit either. Can’t stun the opponent or do anything. Pretty much lost interest there.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback, appreciate the critique. I did want to add staggering/fight balancing to the game. The animations for enemies getting hit were in the game but I didn't get around to programming the Functional State Machine for the "Hurt" state due to dev time prioritization .

Thank you for playing Training Arc :)

Your response honestly makes me want to play/try it more.

First I tried that isn't about trains. I like the Pixel 3D style. Is that first fight winnable I wonder?

Developer

Thank you for trying it out! I think there might be a way to win the fight if you try really hard, but Larry almost always one shots you. I wanted to add dialogue to the pre-fight scene saying that he was way out of your league but I prioritized finishing the mini-games.

Cheers to you for playing Training Arc :)

I won... but at what cost... (we both threw the last punch!)

A very fun little game. Great work on adding multiple small game modes that all contributed to the training. The whole experience felt cohesive even though it took place on different scenes.

Wow I can't believe you beat the game!

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to play Training Arc :)
