Really dig the concept, but I got stuck somehow on the ice wall so that cut my play session a bit short. I do feel like the difficulty curve could increase a bit faster regardless, because the early game can be pretty dang slow. Great execution overall though!

Pretty cool concept and execution! However, like MedalHunter, I also encountered a bug where you'll sometimes be completely stuck when colliding with an ice block - however, for me snowballs also stopped moving when this happened, putting the game into a frozen (haha) state.

Hope you fix the bugs and develop more awesome projects in the future!

It took me a bit to figure out what was going on, as the game itself had no explanation, but once I got around to figuring that part out, it was an intriguing defense game presented in a way I don't think I've ever played. IT was very challenging and you always have to be on your toes, especially in the beginning, when you're still trying to get your bearings in on how everything works. Alas, it was hard to get attached because with no sound cues to know if fire had extinguished or if ice blocks had broken, there was no real sense of urgency. No music also left it a bit empty, but overall, this is a great effort gameplay-wise for a one-person team, and I hope you keep up the good work in the future!

Hi there!

Thanks for playing/reviewing/kind words.

I plan to add a "Help" screen.
Also, you are totally right, I feel the same, the game needs more visual and sound feedback.
It was on my todo list, but, unfortunately, I had to make choices.
I'm adding them in the post-compo version.

Take care!

PS: Nice "guitar hero" snowboard game. ; )

That's an endless, right? 21 minutes in, got to 2662 canceled bullets before I got stucc to the ice block that covered The Last One Standing™ and ultimately lost the game in the most helpless way I've seen in the last 10 months.
"Hold until Marisa and Sakuya come to help you!" -Game page. In the end help never came :(

Anyway, the game flow feels quite complete actually.
It's just about balance tweaks now - It's kinda hard at the beginning, then the barricade/speed related upgrades make things easy and passive, and then it suddenly spikes way up when the danmaku-like attacks come in and destroys everything at once. Even on a second try where I know what to invest in and where I scramble to plug the holes in the fire and ice as fast as I can, near-extinction occured - and there was one.
Looks like the attack patterns are a big loop of 8 minutes. So I got stuck at the end of the second loop.

Nevertheless it's fun enough~

Hi there!

I feel really sorry about that ice block bug. : (
I imagine how it could be frustrating and spoil the fun.

Indeed, I didn't have time to implement the coming of Marisa and Sakuya, but there is a win condition at XXXXX xp (canceled bullets).

There is a determined sequence of different patterns, then randomized patterns.

Indeed, I need a better balance, I'm working on post-compo version.

Thanks for playing. : )

Take care!

I like how it slowly ramps up to be like a bullet hell. Visuals are cute and the game makes figuring out what to do fun. I like the track, but I wasn't sure if it was just me, but the track stopped playing part way in.

Developer(+1)

Thanks CKenshin, your real bullet hell is good. : )

I took note about the track (I thought music was auto loop, but maybe not hehe).

Take care!

Nice game, but steep difficulty curve (might just be picking the wrong upgrades, though). And it's possible to permanently get stuck on the bottom ice blocks.

Developer

Nice game too ReiMari. : )

Thanks for your feedback.

It's not you, it's my balance, I ran out of time.

I also noticed the "stuck in ice blocks", it seems rather rare but still buggy, it will be fixed in the post-compo version.

Take care!

I guess Sanae and Marisa never comes to help? Nice game otherwise.  A bit easy, especially in the beginning. Also, I'm pretty sure the "More wood" upgrade is actively harmful.

I saw your entry, nice game too. ; )

This is a well-polished game, about the player protecting penguins from being attacked by the snow cannons.

You have 2 defense lines, fire, and ice.

Fire requires wood and ice requires ice, very easy to understand.

At some point in the game, you will get an upgrade, to strengthen your character's power.

It might look easy at the beginning, but soon it will turn into a Danmaku game if you don't pay enough attention to it.

Overall, a great game to enjoy.

Developer

Thanks a lot for the kind words.

I'm very glad you enjoyed playing. : )

Did you succeed to finish it?

I fear it's too hard when the Danmaku patterns come (unfortunately, I ran out of time and the balance was unfinished).

I checked your game, it looks very neat, I will play it asap. ; )

Take care!
