It's a solo project, so all code and art were done by me! Badsprite! Or Kenny, whichever you prefer. I used music, sound effects, and code assets as well. All credits are listed in the in-game credits!

What was the origin story?
Spectral overdrive was a game idea I made 3 years ago, but I never finished the prototype. But thanks to the jam, now it's a finished prototype! I've succeeded! Now I get to work on other projects and I'm super excited :D

Absolutely amazing. One of my favorite entries.

I loved being able to zip around the map AND looking good while doing it too!

If you continue this any further I'd suggest maybe allowing the ship to be turned while it is not accelerating? Perhaps at a faster rate than when the ship is moving?

Thank you for the feedback! I'll add that to the list of stuff to test out!

really like the charm of Rook and the music, visuals and  sound effects. my biggest enemy was the Status UI,
projectiles and enemies can hide behind it, I also accidently got behind it, maybe if it was slightly transparent.

Thank you for the feedback! Initially, I was planning for the status UI and info to be completely separate from the game, kinda like Kirby Superstar, where all the UI stuff was at the bottom. But I couldn't due to time constraints. If I get back to this game, I'll definitely work on fixing that up!

Your visuals are well polished, I love it! The mechanics really goes well with it, giving players a sense of difficulty and tension!

Developer

Thank you! I personally had a lot of fun with the mechanics when testing the game, so I'm happy you enjoyed it too!

Fantastic polish and attention to detail. The controls felt a little hard for me but I love this game

Developer

Thank you! I'm happy you enjoyed the lil details I added!

Really impressive game! I could see you expanding this and doing more. Even then still an enjoyable gameplay loop and a unique idea done well, congrats!

Developer

Thanks! I've never played a game like this, so designing everything was a challenge. So I'm glad you think that the mechanics were done well!

Cute art! ❤

Nice gameplay loop, and very polished visuals. If you plan on expanding this I would put bumpers on the side you can aim for to turn around, since you often spend more time turning than anything else.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I will probably not add anything substantial to this game for a while. But I have a list of things I want to add and test out if I do! I'll add bumpers to that list too!

A great game. The style is great.  It's hard for me. My reaction time is too slow.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for trying my game! I'm happy you like the style, I worked really hard on it!
