Great use of the theme focus and theme... Here's a link to my playthrough https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1595954872?t=00h37m19s

Very immersive, and fit the theme quite well. I did however find my self wishing there was somekind of background music, and a game over screen would have been nice as well. But overall for a gamejam game, well done!

Developer

thanks for playing and feedback!

I couldn’t find any background ambience (or at least not in the right place) so i has to leave it out since it decided to do all the sound at the last minute. I plan to improve on my sound design in the future and hopefully find quicker ways of implementing them.

Spooky game ! I am very easy scared and for me it's hard playing horror-games, but I found game very immersive, from light/shadow perspective.

And I dont understand glowing EXIT letters in labirinth. I should somehow interact with them?

Developer

Hey thanks for playing!

So the exit is supposed to be, well the exit. You can't interact with it until you reach 8 am when the clock would change from the time to "ESCAPE." I left it available to see at all times since Unity's 2d lighting system doesn't work well with tilemap sprites so the a text was placed there instead to show where the exit is supposed to be.

Loved the vibes and approach to theme but wasn't quite sure how to deal with the monster.  I stood next to the fire and the monster still killed me :(

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

The creature's behavior wasn't really explained well in the game's description and that's my fault. What I meant that it hates the light/warmth is that it's not afraid of the light, but more of the creature despises it and wants to put it out to keep it's environment cold. Will improve on the description in the future. The sticks that you light on fire are used to temporary distract it from you, and I can see how that doesn't make sense when the furnace is a giant pile of burning sticks. I originally was going to have the creature attack the furnace but deemed that too unfair for the player and would make the game more aggravating.

Thanks for playing!

Very Good Theme Usage, And The Focus Was Nice

the game is well made and clearly alot of effort went into making it , my only complaints is the players speed , or just forget about it maybe make a sound when you're near an enemy to alert us , from going in its direction nothing else to say , the artstyle is great you nailed it with creepy vibe too excellent job a solid rating from me!

Developer(+1)

The speed being to slow seems to be the consensus. Not even I like to be slow, but I wanted the player to be forced to utilize their torches and have enough time to react to the creature if they were going head first towards it.

Thanks for the feedback

Not having a bunch of crazy sound effects does make the game a bit spookier, but without anything cluing you into what's going on in your surroundings makes the game hard to understand. The character moves SO slowly, and while that's great for making it spookier when the monster's on your tail, it makes the rest of the game feel a bit slow. I like the art style you chose for the game, and the game's really cool as you never really see many horror games for Game Jams. :)

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah in retrospect no one really like playing as a slow character, and I plan on improving my sound design in the future.
