Did you work in a team?
Adam Trosper (MadamBrosper): Coding
Joel Wolf (enevis): Art/Animations/Coding
Paul Brom (brombropaul): Coding

Special thanks:
Dendroid (soundcloud.com/dendroid_music) for the awesome music!

Was the resolution a challenge?
The resolution constraints really make you think hard about the user experience and what needs to be on screen vs. what you can leave up to player discovery.

With a map size larger than the viewport, we had to make sure that you knew what was happening in each section of the ship, so we added an alert notification system that stays on screen at all times.

In addition, while Unity's pixel perfect camera helps keep the resolution at a crisp 64x64, there are still plenty of considerations you have to code around to avoid rendering issues.

What did you learn?
From last year's game jam, we definitely decreased the overall scope of the game. (Last year we created a game with 3 levels and a bunch of enemy AI.) However, even with a smaller scope, we still ended up leaving some features on the cutting room floor.

For example, we had originally wanted to include a tutorial section explaining the gameplay and controls.

Speaking of...

=== CONTROLS ===
WASD = Movement
J = Interact / Pickup Item / Skip Cutscene
K = Drop Item / Cancel

Hope you enjoy the game!

Congratulations on making this game !

I've played your game during a live that you can watch here :

The live is timestamped so you can go directly to your game.

I hope the feedback and live reactions will be useful. Keep it up !

Thanks Darenn! It was super cool to watch you playthrough the game and learn how to play it as you went! We had definitely meant to put some sort of tutorial or guide into the game itself, but ran out of time unfortunately.  I'm really glad that you stuck with it and eventually beat it!  It seemed like you had a good time!

Thanks again for playing and recording your feedback!

Hey it's me again !
I would like to feature Icarus in a future video. Any way I can get the music ?

Developer(+1)

That would be awesome!  I was going to say that I'll DM you, but realized that Itch doesn't have a DM system, lol.  What would be the easiest way to DM you the details if I don't have a Twitter?

You can send the OST at my public mail : darenn.gamedev@gmail.com

Also, would you be able to make a build for linux or windows so that I can record the game full screen ?
I can do without it, just afraid about the quality.

Developer

Hi Darenn - Just sent both along! Enjoy!

very good package overall, music fits the gameplay very well. the controls felt a little bit unresponsive for me, sometimes i could repair something sometimes i couldnt, i dropped the fire extinguisher for accident, and after that i couldnt pick it up again. I had fun playing with this!

Nice game! I think there could've been more in game stuff telling the player what machine takes what and what is going on (I didn't realize there was a manual on the game page until after I gave up trying to figure out what was going on). However, if I saw the manual before hand I would've had a better time.

Visuals and animations are great. I love that you just whack things with your wrench to fix them. The audio and music also fit very nicely as well. The cinematics were also very fun, although the death one was a tad long.

But yeah, with a more fleshed out tutorial or system telling the player what to do, this is a fun little game!

Good work to all!
