I also was unfortunately unable to finish because of the black screen. :(

Some of the gameplay in this is a little TOO repetitive and without reason. For example, every time you leave, you have to speak with everyone. But their dialogue doesn't change and they don't even say anything interesting, just "we're waiting to leave," but in different ways. If you're going to force your player to talk to everyone before leaving, there should be a reason. Use that moment to give your characters some personality beyond just existing like they do now.

It's hard to keep a linear "groundhog day" like setup interesting, but small changes like that would make all the difference.

I wish your game / game dev well in the future! Thanks for sharing your game with us! :)

Hello, erin foster!

Thank you for the feedback!

I know that making a game like this requires a better system and storyline.

But unfortunately I have less time to do due to my full-time job.

Anyway, thanks for playing and taking the time to review my game, I really appreciate it.

And please come back and play again in my next project.

oh my this was such a delight to play from start to finish !! it has a charm and nostalgic feel to it that you can't find in games these days and i absolutely adored that.

i love that the story is compact and straightforward. the ending sadly was lost to a black screen bug lol but since you've fixed it i might give it another try. characters are not very distinguished or memorable but i actually enjoyed some of their dialogues.

there's quite a significant number of typos so definitely should pay attention to that in your future projects (though it does add to the charm in some cases hehe)

cover art is very eye-catching ! maps were well done ! you could feel the cozy vibes of a camping trip and that really spoke to me.

a lot of game mechanics are a bit rough and certainly can use more refining. i absolutely love the dialogue plug-in choice though ! it looks dynamic and you can tell easily which character is speaking.

overall a pleasant and nicely done little horror experience. i'm looking forward to your future projects. keep up the good work!

Hello, blecat

I sincerely thank you for the feedback, Which these things will be improved in the next project for sure.

I know there are many spelling mistakes, Both bad translations made by myself and from automatic translators, That will make me more careful.

Thank you again and I hope you come back to play my game again in the next game!

Things I liked:

  • Clear instructions for what to do next
  • The story is one that keeps me guessing and wondering what’s really going on

Things I didn’t like:

  • Time resets make sense at first - MC dies, then repeats until they figure out how to avoid it - but later the resets don’t follow this pattern and it’s not clear why a reset occurs
  • Talking to everyone in the room is a simple enough, but the dialog is so bland that it just seems like padding more than giving insight into the characters or advancing the story
  • Grammar issues make it hard to follow the story
  • A scene late in the game fails to fade in, so I couldn’t get to the ending

This seems like a good foundation for a story-based game; it just needs some further refinement to really shine.

Thank you for the review.

I really appreciate the feedback, I will improve it in the next project.

For a black screen at the end of the game, I have already fixed it.

But I can't send the updated game because the game jam activity is not over yet.

Thanks for playing.

Hi ! First of all the cover art is amazing, it really stands out and invokes an interesting atmosphere. I was looking forward to playing this.

The music and sound design is perfect, it really sets the mood. Some more sound effects like for dialogue text and interactions with objects, as well as footsteps and in game sounds would've elevated this even more. The maps look amazing as well, I really loved them, especially the camp.

I like the creative placing of the text boxes ! it's really dynamic and compact. Speaking of text though, the characters could use a bit more work. They weren't really distinguishable by their speech or personality, so if I didn't see the face of who's talking it could've been anyone because they all speak the same. The only time they showed personality was during the ghost stories scene in the camp, which was cute and I wish there was more moments like that so we got to see them being friends.

Personally I think having less characters and focusing more on each of them would make it easier to make them distinguished and each of them more memorable. Design wise, all the girls look great, but it's a shame their partners look exactly like them with shorter hair. Try playing around with male designs more, there's a lot of fun stuff you can do.

As someone else mentioned, the uploaded game can't be played past them leaving the camp, so sadly I didn't see the plot further or different endings. I noticed later you updated that so I'll check it out some other time !

I like exploring everything on the map and clicking everything that seems like it could have an interaction, but unfortunately there isn't anything to click unless it's needed for the game to progress. I went through all the hotel rooms and couldn't explore until it was time for me to find the key, which is a shame and seems like a lot of unused space for fun things. This could've also helped the character personality problem, each persons room could tell us something about them if we explore. Little things like that help a lot.

The concept itself is really interesting, but currently (as I wasn't able to finish the game so I can't say if this changes) feels a bit under explored. There's a lot of fun stuff you could do with this idea, and I think you could easily find interesting scenarios if you brainstormed a bit more.

Overall, very charming game, a nice idea with a lot of potential. Good job on making this in such a short time, and I'm excited to see how you grow further !

Thank you very much for the review, I'm very happy :)

Actually, I designed many scenes and maps to explore, including various parts of the story.

But in the end, it had to be cut because the deadline was expired before submission.

Your feedback is valuable to me.

I will try to improve it in the next project.

Thank you for playing again.

Game started off pretty interesting and entertaining, and I like the idea of your [spoiler] being decided by the actions you decide in your [spoiler], but there's not really a motivation NOT to do certain things. Very frequently I was given "tips" on how to do something but there wasn't an option to do anything else, and combined by the confusing plot by the end I just...wasn't really 100% on the game.

The mapping was quite nice, though! And the title art that you've done, along with the music selection, was top-notch. Well done!

Hello!

Thank you  for your feedback.

I'm sorry that there aren't many options in the plot, I'll take this feedback into further improvements in the next project.

Thank you again :)

Hey! I played through your game and had fun with it. It felt like I was playing through an interactive horror movie from the 90s, which was great. I wrote down a couple of notes I wanted to share with you:

- Ambience and BGM REALLY shine here. Great sound design! I feel like if you add footstep sound effects, it would make it even better

- Good job showcasing the personality of each character in a short amount of time and with a relatively large cast

- The timed segments were a nice way to break up the dialogue - I would have loved more moments like this during the game!

- The text needs a little extra proofreading - I was still able to understand what was going on, so it wasn't too bad

- I couldn't get past the part where the main character is about to give her answer to Banks' proposal. The screen turns black and stays that way. I can still access the menu, so I feel like it might just be that you tinted the screen black and didn't tint it back, so an easy fix

Overall, it was a very atmospheric game with some cool storytelling and gameplay elements. I hope I'll be able to finish it in the future!

Cool, I can’t wait to finish playing this and see the ending! I’ll play it tonight and let you know my thoughts ^^

I got the good ending for everyone! I'm going to go back and see what changes when I make different choices. Like I mentioned, I absolutely LOVED the atmosphere and music. I think you especially did a really good job on that. The only thing I'd add to my first review after playing the update is that I felt sad when it said "game over" at the end! I think having the credits from the title menu play after the ending is the perfect way to finish off the story :)

Good luck in the contest!

Developer

Thank you again for playing and your feedback!

Actually, I wanted to put the end credits instead, but I remember the deadline for the project was approaching.

And there are still a lot of game bugs, That's why it has to be put Game Over Screen.

But don't worry! I'll put the end credits in place of that scene soon.

Your feedback is very valuable to me. I will try to do better in the next project.

Thank you very much :)
