This was really cool. The need to press controls in the virtual cockpit gave it just the right amount of clunk to be atmospheric. Flashing the lights and switching cameras was satisfying to do.

Also, shoutout to a fellow Jovian moon jam :D

Very atmospheric, the mech controls are fantastic.

Thank you for the feedback and thanks for hosting this Jam, really enjoyed taking part!

This entry had some great ambience! The whole slow utility mech being put on a dangerous situation made the whole experience even more intense! I really like what you did here! Great job! Reminded me a lot of Iron Lung, and that is really sick!

Developer(+1)

Thank you.

Iron Lung actually inspired me on how I implemented my cockpit.

The cockpit itself is actually outside of the map, and the player is just controlling a camera attached to a collision box.

Meant I didn't have to worry about things clipping through the mech and into the cockpit or the movement of the mech causing issues with the camera controls.

Oh snap! I was just talking about that to my brother last night and he was mind blown by it to! Hhahaa man this stuff is really inspiring, seeing all those little tricks we can squeeze in into our games without people realizing it!

I am so surprised you are a fan of it to!

In addition to the game, I really liked the title, I felt it captures the creepy vibe the game has in general quite nicely.  Nice work!

Developer

Thank You.

Since I'd been planning to set my game in space, I started looking at what kind of protection is best against cosmic radiation. Turns out the best method is to surround the crew with water tanks.

These of course take up a lot of space, so the idea for my mech was that it would have a very cramped cockpit with no external windows due to this.

I felt like calling it a "Casket" mech would make sense given the sealed in enclosed space that it is.

I really like the buttons in the mech! The pacing was good, and a good little story to go along with it. :D

Developer

Thank You.

My whole gameplay loop kinda came together at the last minute, so I'm glad to hear that people liked it as I didn't leave as much time to play test as I should have.

Oh dam that was awesome!

This reminds me of the PS1 era horror games where the controls were tank like and it helped add to the frustration and fear when the creepy things are trying to murder you and your panicking trying to do the right thing but in this case your piloting a machine and it works perfectly for it!

Keep up the good work :)

Thank you!

I had originally planned to fill the cockpit with buttons, so that the player had to desperately search for the right one to do the job, but scaled things back at the end in order to work on other aspects of the game.

Reoptimzed the game. Got the file size down to 82MB from 400MB.
