Very fun game! While the graphics were simple, they fit well with the game. I liked the premise as well. I definitely caused half the damage to the walls though by deflecting the shots back at it lol maybe having the projectiles disappear when they hit the wall would be nice? But I also sort of like it being there, adds more difficulty. Well done!

Nice and simple, very intuitive, and pretty intense as the game wears on.

PROS:

  • I like how simple it is and the ascension movement is nicely responsive to give you better ability to respond to incoming threats.
  • It's very forgiving at first, but you do get the feeling of your defenses wearing over time.
  • A nice challenge and there's a lot of ways to easily tweak that up or down based on some simple settings.

CRITQUE:

  • I totally destroyed half of my walls because I was just late and bounced projectiles back into them so that just straight adds insult to injury and "feels bad" from a player perspective.
  • Outside of the loses I'd already incurred I didn't feel a sense of difficulty escalation as the game wore on. Something as simple as fewer projectile volleys at first with steadily increasing amounts would give more weight to later shots.
  • The responsiveness to movement changes was very binary and almost too quick for comfort IMO. It would greatly improve game feel if there were more of a physics style interaction to the movement with character slowly losing velocity if you weren't actively accelerating and possibly add a second button input for "go downward" that would then allow players to push themselves back and forth harder, but constantly still be fighting the feeling of the weight of the character.

Super engaging! I can think of a challenge where you need to destroy the tower as fast as you can. Like when the bullet flies right above the ground, you can jump over it so that it would reflect infinitely and destroy the tower.

Really fun, I love how you did a reverse Breakout. Clever game!

I like how you used a familiar styled mechanic in new ways.  Nice work

I reflected shots back at the wall so may times rofl - I think this actually probably increased the fun factor tbh

Victory!!! Love the cover art you included!

It was funny sometimes I managed to reflect an enemy shot back at the wall so it got hit twice with the same bullet ðŸ˜‚
