In what way does your game fit the theme?
Pineapples on pizza cause chaos. I think. It probably doesn't fit the theme too well but oh well.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, except the scripts for packages like Cinemachine and a Character Controller script by Brackeys.

Well, it's definitely a chaotic topic so that sorta fits the theme.  It's not what I was expecting to see though, it has a funny concept overall though at least.  There's also the interesting dilemma of if you should introduce this world to pineapple on pizza.  Which causes more questions.

Gameplay wise though, it was an interesting setup, though I did have a few issues, mainly once the shooting enemies came into play.  With the fact that I would almost always, end up bouncing into their bullets and pretty immediately losing.  Especially on, what I believe was the last level with the pizza boss.

There was also some inconsistencies when it came to straight gun fights, mainly since your bullet specifically goes forward, and is quite small.  So there was a lot of missing while trying to dodge what I could.  Especially considering contact  damage and that there's no way to get behind enemies.

Otherwise though it's a nice basis for an interesting story setup and an overall theme to the game.  Which is awesome!!

Ha, the world definitely needs to know the superiority of pineapple on pizza! I really liked playing this one, it really felt like you put effort into it. The levels were nicely laid out, and options for multiple routes is always a bonus. The graphics are simple, but using the unifying concept of pizza toppings helps them feel consistent.

There's definitely a couple of areas for improvement. You've already clocked things like additional animations and sfx, as well as the slightly buggy bounce pads (perhaps introduce a speed limit to the character controller). I'd also point out that there are a few points in the game where you have to make a blind drop, and there's no way to know if your going to land on an enemy. Perhaps have the camera move down or zoom out in these kind of areas? That shouldn't be too difficult with cinemachine. I'd also suggest against using coins for health, as it kind of goes against the visual language of a coin as an optional collectable. You can still have health packs double as score, I'd just suggest making them into pineapple chunks or something that a player will have less assigned meaning towards.

The player movement is fine, but there's a couple of things that can be done to improve it's feel. I'd slightly increase the movement speed and tweak the acceleration to give it more of a ramp up (not too much though or it will feel slippery). As for the jump you normally want the player to fall quicker than they rise (this violates the laws of physics but tends to be what people expect from platformers). You also generally want the users jump height to be proportional to how long they hold the button, it gives the feeling of more control. There's a great yt video called "better jumping in unity with 4 lines of code" that addresses this.

Sorry for the long post, just thought I'd offer a few thoughts if you were looking for points to improve for future updates/other games. This game had a lot of charm and I really enjoyed it. I hope to see more of your games in the future! Well done :).

Sorry for replying to your comment late (and actually I've been thinking of how to reply to this since I'm not great at replying xD), but holy pineapple the amount of content that's in this!

I do agree with what you've said though, there are many things that could've been better or changed, but there were also a few things that I didn't think of, like the cinemachine and coin stuff that you talked about. Definitely will take a look at what you said.

No worries for the long post though, the longer it is the better, since you listed out many problems and also ways to improve them, so thanks for that. Also thanks for enjoying this game despite all the problems :)

Was a good one.. Would have like if there was some visual feedback for attacking and player can be a bit faster.

Good Work! Kudos!!

Developer

Thanks! I agree about the visual feedback stuff, I actually did make stuff like animations fro the player and enemies, but they didn't work well for some reason, and besides I didn't have time to do more animations. Also, the player speed is something that many people commented about as well, so I'll definitely make it a bit faster when I update it :)

Submitted(+1)

No worries you made a decent enough game which you can start building upon if you wanted to so looking forward for the update!

Nice game! Bouncing was fun!

Though the player moves really slow, and some enemies might be shooting too fast

Developer

Thanks! The bouncing parts are actually kinda buggy, as if you stay on the bouncing areas, it keeps getting faster and eventually you fly out of the map. As for the player speed and enemy shooting, I wasn't certain on them either, I'll definitely take a look at the stuff :)

I like pineapples :D

Developer

nice :)

Nice simple platformer. But it doenst fit the theme.

If you try my game i will very appreciate it:)

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, I think its an interesting idea but not really "chaotic".

I'll definitely try and rate your game soon!

Wow you've improved a lot since your last jam! This game is great! I don't really think this fits the theme too well and the game is a little rough around the edges, the shooting could be a bit more responsive and some background music wouldn't go a miss but you've done a great job overall!

Developer(+1)

thanks for the feedback! I do agree that this game still needs a lot of work. I ran out of time for many things so stuff like sound is not existent. I can also see how this doesn't really fit the chaos theme.

Also yeah, I was kinda struggling with the shooting part a bit as well. I'll definitely take a look at it soon.

Once again thanks for the comment!

I love the idea of pineaple on pizza, but I'm not sure it fits the theme to well :/

The platforming was fun and the invisible ground in the second level added an extra chllenge :p

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I thought of this pizza idea at first and thought it was good then, but I too realised that it didnt fit the theme too well (but I couldn't change it because I would've wasted so much time), and well obviously, a platformer that's filled with bugs doesn't really fit the theme of chaos too much.

Thanks for enjoying the platforming stuff though. The invisible ground was actually a bug (that was probably caused by me forgetting to adjust the z positions or something idk), but I guess that made it slightly more "chaos" xD

Awesome work!

Would appreciate if you give mine a try: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-6/rate/1176432

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I''ll definitely try your game!

Good job bro!

Developer

Thanks!

It's pretty fun. The knife should have animation or sfx though, I wasn't sure if it was working or not.

Developer

Thanks! I'll definitely add some more animations and stuff since i didn't have time to do it in  the jam

Little bit rough and needs some work in some aspects but has potential and it's actually quite fun! :D

Developer

Yeah, I ran out of time to do a lot of things and also didn't have time to playtest properly (especially animations and the sprites in level 2 missing). Honestly I think "little bit rough" is an understatement xD

Thanks for playing though!

Great idea

Developer

Thanks!

The animations are funny XD. Game is really fun to play, The game was lacking audio though

please rate mine too :D https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-6/rate/1175460

Developer

Lol thanks! Yeah i had animations (some) but they didn't work for some reason. Also yes, didn't have time for audio. Will definitely take a look at those stuff though!

And yes, I'll take a look at your game later and rate it :)

So I am confusion.

Developer

I know right.

Pineapple? inPizza? Oh Boy for sure its 5 star!

Developer

PINEAPPLE PIZZA WOOO

Submitted(+1)

Well this game was actually fun, the first level was a bit janky with the animations but after that it was awesome, only thing to add is hp to the boss, it felt like i shot 50 bullets at him xD

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yeah, actually animations for the player and enemies and stuff aren't working 90% of the time because I'm an idiot. And yes, the boss has like 100 HP which takes absolutely forever to kill, will definitely take a look at those problems soon :)

Submitted(+1)

you should add an hp Bar to the boss just so you be able to know how close you are to kill him

Developer(+1)

Yeah I will do that and also add bars to the other enemies and players to make it look nicer and more obvious, thanks :)

Submitted(+1)

Interesting game, but some background audio would be good :D

Developer

Thanks! And yes, I didn't have time to put in audio ._.

Submitted(+1)

This is the best game I've ever played I dont care what you think its a masterpiece that should go in a museum

Developer

Thanks, although with the amount of bugs and stuff in this game, I don't think it's worth being in a museum xD

Submitted(+1)

Amazing game! Might want to make shooting more responsive

Developer

Thanks! Yeah I set a small cooldown thingy forr the shooting but I wasn't too certain on that either. Will definitely take a look at that soon!
