Hi everyone! Having a good jam so far? We thought it might be a neat idea to encourage a playtesting weekend, meant to help everyone pinpoint issues and check out other jammers' work! It's okay if you don't have your game done— you can still show us what you have so far! To account for the lateness of this announcement, the dates for posting your games will be between Saturday through Monday. Doing this is optional, but we encourage you to post! We also HIGHLY encourage you to check out games with no feedback; let your fellow jammers know you're cheering them on!

2D shooter game, with a lot of squares i guess. (haven't really decided for any self-explanatory description yet),

I'd like feedback on: glitches, errors etc. I'm trying to fix every single problem so game will be completly playable. Also, there are development buttons in game, to add coins, reset levels, reset upgrades etc. just to test the game, so you can use it. (in full release this won't be there)

It is a good start. The English grammar is a bit off, but I like the narrator. I think it cool that the player is telekinetic. Maybe make it so that players can control the small enemies too? With some resistance of course. Also, the final level is very very long. When you die, having to restart at the beginning is very annoying. The upgrades are very cheap, it is super easy to get that much money, maybe make it so they are more expensive? Or so that the individual coins are worth less "coin"

Thanks for playing, english grammar in the game ins't really good, because I'm from Europe country where not everyone speak english, and our schools don't care about english that much. Also thanks for the suggestion about controlling mini enemies, I'll try to implement it soon. Now the final level is very long because it's infinite. I should say this somewhere in the game. About upgrades: I'll make upgrades more expensive, if you have some idea for prices of upgrades let me know. Thanks for the review.

I like the premise and the shooting mechanics. The camera and the main character shake a little bit too much when you move and it is a little bit annoying not being able to shoot the enemies through the coins. Really nice progress.

Thanks so much for playing the game. Why the player shakes when moving? That's because I'm moving character changing his position, not adding velocity to Rigidbody2D, i tried doing that, but it didn't really work out for my game, and now it feels more normal, as the game is not physics based. Also the coins and shooting through them, will be fixed. Thanks for review!

  • Add an indicator for when I can fire again. The AWP fire rate is slow and I don't know when I can fire again, so I don't know when to peak and line up my shot.
  • You can't shoot through coins....?
  • Blackwall on pistol level at the beginning can be shot through..... .yet coins can't.
  • Moving platforms don't move you when you stand on them.
  • Moving platforms push you around when you are under them - like there isn't enough room between it and the floor
  • Main square is very jittery.....

Thanks for playing the game, the indicator to fire again is perfect idea that game needed, thanks a lot for that suggestion. AWP fire rate is slow, but I'll make it more. The glitch when you can't shoot through coins will be fixed. Some bullets can go through the walls, mostly because unity isn't detecting collissions at that high speed, there's nothing I can do about it, that's the one glitch I know of, but I tried everyting, and nothing changed. Moving platforms don't move you because when yes, it's too easy since you don't need to moving, you just stand and the platforms go with you, so I changed it. Thanks for reporting the glitch with moving platforms pushing you to the floor, I already quickly fixed it. And about the main jittery square, I explained why it's how it is in other report. Thanks for perfect organized review.

Guessing this is a very rough draft, but has potential! Keep going! This is what I found : 

  • Enemy stuck in ground...?
    • Or maybe that was just his bullets?
  • Coins didn't start with collision so you can walk through them
  • Single Player button didn't work - level  select just took me to a level
  • on death I turn into a RIP that can still shoot and move for awhile. 
    • Respawn isn't working, 
  • Escape key does nothing to bring up a menu

When I download the .exe file, google chrome won't let me open it or do anything with it, because it could be virus. (I don't know if that's only for me.)

Physics gambling/timesink games: A group of free time spending, gambling themed games.

I'd like feedback on: Any feedback is appreciated! I've only packaged for windows not sure and have no way to test Linux or Apple packaging. All but the slot machine are weighted to winning so you can always get credits.

Feels weird having to go through a paywall for a Community First Game Jam......

  • Coin Slider Game
    • The random spamming of coins to start doesn't really work out well.... The coins don't line up nicely as you'd see in an arcade, etc.
    • The physics on the coins is wrong. But not not heavy enough, not a steep enough angle to start, or the friction too high. They all just get stuck up on the first slant
    • What are the phone buttons doing? Bottom left bottom right thingies....
    • Coin Spamming should probably be removed.
  • Slots
    • Holy seizure warning batman..... the speed at which they spin and the colours....
    • Also I have no idea if I win or lose. Sure a sound would be nice, but even just looking at the colours that come up. Seems to be random gradiants of colours.
  • Plachinko Machine
    • I had coins going every which way. Almost need to put a glass barrier around it so they don't fall out.
    • Also had coins clipping through the pushers.
    • Pegs are hard to see with the background image.

Open platformer: About the lil ball coming from the sky and on his way to a festival! I plan for it to not be exactly linear where you just run to the right and had it to where you pretty much explore the environment you’re in!


Feedback: How is the level design? As that’s what I want to focus on the most to provide the best experience!

  • Camera is a big nauseating.  Maybe make the camera move ONLY if you got out side of a certain Y space - and do it a tad slower. Each jump right now the camera is just bouncing around.
  • Change jump height based on how long button is held. I tap the button you only jump a little, I hold and I get FULL jump. That way I can make the tiny jumps easier.
  • Change the hit boxes on your landing places so things feel a tad more forgiveable. Here's me standing on an edge becuase of how the hitboxes are set up.


becuase of these hitboxes some of the jumps feel bad and impossible. For example jumping from underneath to something above.

  • Level Design
    • I was a tad confused. I assumed it was just a "GO RIGHT" game like Sonic the Hedgehog. End goal is to just go right. Which I did and I ended up on level 3? ({Jungle level?))
    • Sadly I can't say much on this - I'm struggling with level design too.

Really good man that's a lot of hard work and I would like to give you a great suggestion for camera follow. It is cinemachine. Cinemachine is really awesome just try that out. But cinemachine will only work with unity

Really fun platformer. You could use a bit of indicators as where to go specially on the end of the levels. It's a really good prototype!

  • Perhaps add a variable jump? Depending on the amount of jump pressed you jump a different amount.
  • It feels TOO fast. I'd say slow it down a bit.
  • And when ya slow it down, make his jump less floaty.

Overall though, this has some great potential!

What its about: It's a fairly simple puzzle game where you are stuck in a simulation, and a boss is waiting for you at the end.

I'd like feedback on bugs, aestetic, and gameplay.

  • Audio Sliders
    • Like 80'% of it is silence then it JUMPS in audio really quick. Basically anything under 50% is unhearable
  • Soundtrack - I really do like this!
  • Mouse Sensitivity
    • Oh please give a slider I had to go out and adjust mine to be able to play this.
  • Main Screen
    • All buttons start the game (settings and creds)
  • Gameplay
    • Reminds me of PORTAL! Sadly I didn't get far due to the aesthetics
  • Aesthetic
    • I dunno if it was the FOV or the bright lights mixed with the high sensitivity. I just got a headsache and couldn't continue. Might just be me.

The gameplay is epic, but my framerate was very low, and my mouse sensitivity was very high, maybe add a sensitivity option later. Still, pretty good game so far.

Information:

The Last Bastion Of Mana is a "Tower-Defense" style game where your goal is to survive as long as possible, keeping your city alive by building up your defense with walls and various towers. There is no "cost" for these towers and walls, as you can place as many as you want, but be wary - the more of each defense you have placed, the weaker they get!

Feedback:

We welcome feedback on anything and everything. This is our first time making a game as a group, and we want to be able to fix up/improve all aspects of our game.

What We Need Help On:

Find various ways to "break the game". Finding a broken strategy will be the best help us to balance the game. Feel free to share how far you have gotten as well!

Oooooo I LOVE this concept. 

  • Wish I could full screen, everything is too small. I want everything bigger!!!
  • Add a grid system of sorts that you can see and maybe it highlights before you place them?
    • I was trying to make a nice little maze for them to go through and I can't draw a straight line to save my life
  • Walls don't do what I'd think. I figure they'd go around the walls so I could funnel them where I wanted. Nope - they just eat through them.
    • Maybe ONLY eat through walls if they have no viable path?
  • I guess things heave health because they die? Health bars would be nice. 
    • In most tower defense games I've played things don't get attacked unless enemies don't have a way through.
  • So I use a bunch of towers, and they're weaker because of it, but when they die I don't get them back?
  • A countdown of when the wave will come. And a GO NOW button

Hello! Thank you so much for playing our game and for the feedback!


In the latest build, we addressed the scaling issue and added the Grid, so we hope that helps visualize things.


As for the rest:

  • Walls: I tried to make the AI a simple as possible, and I will be looking at an enemy that follows an A* pathing algorithm (that won't lag the game)
  • Health: We are trying to see the best way to display damage (either a health bar or a showing a damaged sprite)
  • Towers: The Mana used to Create towers is infinite, but it's strength deteriorates when used. Once the mana is corrupted by the machines, it does not directly return to the "mana pool". Thus an incantation (the upgrade button next to the tower selection button) must be done in order to restore the strength. Adding a tutorial might help fix confusion on this part in the future.
  • Countdown: Big Warning sign appears and a siren signaling the next wave should fix this. Adding a button that spawns them anyway for extra points might be interesting too. (right now its set to spawn 100 every 30 seconds, cause it was easy at the time lol)

Game Title/URL: Chain Lightning

Information: An arcade-ish game where you have a magic grappling hook, and you can use its chain as a weapon.

I'd like feedback on: The sound effects, which need work, but I'd like to know what others feel about it. feedback on anything else would be good as well.

I need help on: The descriptions, both in-game and on the page; writing simple descriptions isn't something I'm good at.

I got an error showing 'Cannot read property 'getParameter' of undefined' when I try and run the game, think it's something screwy with my Chrome, tried in Edge and it worked well.  Interesting concept but thinks it needs another mechanic or too to keep it interesting.

I'm not sure what causes that error; it works fine on my Chrome, and a simple search doesn't reveal anything. The game is a bit simple right now, but I don't think I can get another mechanic implemented in time. If I return to work on it more, though, I'll add some more stuff, like you said!

I really like the premise and movement of this game. It is really fun to dodge the lights and I think the introductory level is really good. I think it would be a good idea to reduce the initial mouse sensitivity. Also I got trapped on the options menu trying to reduce the sensitivity and I couldn't press the back button. You could try to introduce moving lights or moving platforms later on. Really good firs impression of the game!

Thanks for testing our game.  We've had some weird issues with the mouse sensitivity slider working when we run from the unity editor, but not working properly in the build.  We've fixed the UI scaling on different resolutions which has hopefully sorted that problem now.

Good suggestions - we'd thought of adding moving security cameras (yes I agree they do look like lights), but moving platforms is a good idea too.

Greeting everyone,

My game is composed of  placeholders but the basic mechanics is there.

I also add some invisible wall so people wont fall from the level, since the terrain isnt ready yet.

Pitch/Information: Like i wrote above, its all place holders, but it will be about some animals that been kidnapped and you have to find and free all of them before going to the exit (Plataform) marked by a blue light to win the game.

I'd like feedback on: Anything for now. Difficult / fun etc... Light composition if its to dark or to bright. I have place 2 lights and not sure if i stick to yellow or white.

Edit. I I havent used any sound in this demo so its not a bug if you hear nothing. Fixed a bug where after winning the game it would freeze and you cant exit or close.

Pitch/Information: Bullet hell game , in which every time you die you bring with you all gold and can spend it in shop however you want. So you will grow stronger overtime. There is also chance for spawning cursed shop in which when buying for first time you dont see what you will get. Boss still has only place holder. We will add it in a few days. There will be also dashing/porting ability and shield later on.

I'd like feedback on: We just finished this demo so there will be a lot of bugs, so every feedback will be great.

Not good at feedback, but what i noticed is that your fireball shoot dont have limit. Most of time i would run away from the ball that chase you and shoot in that direction while they are very far (off screen) and would kill them. Also make the camera center on the hero, as its stand we have to get pretty close to the screen to move and when entering new areas, the enemy would simple pop near you.

I also loved the music.

Enjoyed the horror vibe, the ambient noise works well.  Love the hand monster mechanic with the flashlight.

- Seems strange to have a key for toggling the flash light, unless you're planning a mechanic later that requires turning it off - I just left it on the whole time.

- A sound effect for pulling levels would be good

- Would be good to be able to close the notes without walking away, I tried pressing ESC

Nice simple but fun game.  Would be good to have some indicator on screen on which way gravity is currently pointing.  If the ball misses the exit you get stuck and have to Alt+F4 at the moment, I guess the level should restart.

Pitch/Information: A Game where you have to multitask to survive. The main goals of the game are to traverse through the planet without dying. Easier said than done, because while traversing the level, you have savage giants that you have to fight off while at the same time maintaining the different power sources that keep the mech and various skills running. There are different consequences if any of the power sources die out..

  • If your eyes run out of power, you won't be able to see anything.
  • If your arms run out of power, you won't be able to pickup powerups and or attack enemies (if you run into an enemy while your arms are out of power, the mech will be destroyed).
  • If your legs run out of power, you won't be able to walk.

I'd like feedback on: basically anything gameplay wise, and visuals, I'd like to see if people like the visuals

Little Spy

Objective

Collect as much stolen intelligence and technology as you can and get to the extraction point before the helicopter leaves without you. Earn a higher agent ranking by collecting more items and complete the mission as fast as possible to earn a higher bonus.

Game Mechanics

  • Little Spy can run and jump. Holding jump extends the jump height.
  • Little Spy is a climber. They can grab walls and slide down them, jump climb up them or wall jump away from them.
  • Like all the best spies, Little Spy has a gadget; a parachute that can stow and deploy itself.
  • Little Spy has a killer flying kick, which can be used to dash, attack enemies or double jump.
  • Little Spy can use all of these skills in combination.
