i loved the presentation (especially the music) of this! i actually found the gameplay to be a bit frustrating, mainly because the level design felt kinda claustrophobic... however, i did like how there were different kinds of souls with different weights, and the overall experience was very charming!

Really cute game, art and sounds are great! I love the mechanic and I feel like it has lots of potential with even more soul types! Maybe even make the way the souls behave necessary from time to time? (like you need to use them to smash through walls). But yeah, really excited for what you do with this!

One thing I will say though is that the spikes and spinning saw blades made me think my character was going to get killed! But in reality, they just do the same speed reduction as all the hazards, right? I would recommend having hazards that look like they will effect the player the way that they actually affect the player (eg. a saw looks like it will hurt/damage/slice the placer, some thick slimy goo on the floor looks like the player would get stuck in it and slow down).

But that's just nit picking, overall nice entry!

Thank you and yeah we didn’t know exactly what the hazards would do when we made them initially, eventually we landed on slowing the player down because it’s more forgiving!

Definitely a unique and interesting take on the theme!
It was really fun getting those souls delivered, and I loved how you added dialogues to make the game more lively.
The spirits getting angry and attacking the delivery guy was really funny, and one time that spirit said "Orange doesn't even suit you" and proceeded to attack me!
I really had fun reading those dialogues!

There was one problem I found, whenever I took the spirit from the box for the first time, the game would lag a lot, it even crashed once... but that only happens when you take the spirit for the first time, the game runs smooth after that.

I would suggest adding more obstacles to the map as the time passes just to make the game a litlle less repetetive

Overall an Awesome entry to the jam! Great job! (First try: delivered 11 spirits)

Well done on 11 spirits!

Interesting that you mention the lag spike when spawning the first spirit. I'm not entirely sure why that happens, as the spirits themselves are not particularly technically demanding. Perhaps in future I could async the loading process to avoid a potential crash. But I have certainly noticed it myself.

Thanks for playing!!

Pretty neat take on the tethered together mechanic, it's cool that the other entity being tethered is antagonistic! The music sounds great and I love the little voice sound effects :)

One possible idea to try might be a risk reward mechanism where you can pick up multiple spirits at a time but there's a tradeoff of it being much harder to control.

Developer

That idea is downright neato! Thank you!

Overall great game! This one of the more polished games, I believe. It was a bit hard to control the small characters, but over time it started to feel much better.

I absolutely loved the small speech bubbles from the souls, really added some atmosphere.

Delivered 10 souls but got smacked 30 times :(

Overall a fun an interesting experience. Fighting against an AI partner trying to get them to go the correct way was interesting and made for a good challenge. I enjoyed how the urns kept moving around, it forced me to explore a lot more.

If you wanted to expand, different souls that act in different ways could be interesting, or some form of upgrade shop between runs could really help turn this into something special!

Overall, great work!

Check out my game if you get a chance!

Good job! It definitely fits the theme, and is fun to play. However you might want to tweak the RNG for picking which destination to take each soul to (I kept getting the same one for the first 2-3 minutes).

Well done! I can definitely see how this fits "joined together" as the soul is literally attached to you. The interaction with the soul was interesting and the graphics had a satisfying look to them. Overall this was a great entry to the jam and I had fun playing! :)
