The game gets a bit challenging as you progress, but the level design, art, and music is amazing. I would recommend some sound effects but your interpretation of the theme and story was very interesting. Great work!

A few collision bugs but a nice game nonetheless. Couldn't get through the last level before the boss though.

Thank you for playing. :) and yeah, that was the biggest thing was level 4, I already have the patched post jam version available to play, its linked to on the jam page.

Thank you for taking the time to play. :)

First of all, THANK YOU for including sound and music volume sliders!

I really like the premise of this game. Seeing a hero's journey from the incompetent villain's eyes is a nice twist. The execution of the game, however, made it pretty difficult. I think the main mechanic of the minions shooting at the hero is at odds with what feels good when controlling a character. I didn't like how when I stopped actively moving a minion, they would turn around and shoot at the hero. I understand this is part of the challenge of the gameplay, so I'm not sure how I would suggest changing it. Maybe there are more minions to control, but when you leave them facing a certain direction they don't turn back around?

I also thought it would be nice if the minions could shoot each other. That was I could body block bullets with another minion. This would create another potential solution for the difficult "double minion spike maneuver" you mentioned below.

It was a bit quirky, but I enjoyed playing your game!

thank you for playing :). And I appreciate the feedback. When I originally sat down to make this, I was gonna give fire control to the player but as I thought about it, how could I incentivise them go shoot so I went with it was just so engraved in them they could not help but shoot at intruders. But I get where your coming from on that. The body blocking was mentioned before, and an interesting idea, there's a decent amount to consider there as well, but it actually work better in a larger version of this game.

I really appreciate the feedback, and for taking the time to play.:) glad you enjoyed it.

You know, this is actually one of the few games I played that I felt understood what the topic of the jam was really about, or at least to me it did. Other games I played had to walk into spikes as a goal and that was simply it, but this one had a good idea in terms of  story and gameplay mechanics. The concept could have been expanded beyond just moving around minions though.

It's just the rest of the game... well... ugh it's so frustrating. I got stuck on level 4 too.

Developer

Thanks, and that's the biggest thing, I tried to provide people a way to progress on the game page so they could experience the whole game. and I feel terrible I didn't remove the double minion spike maneuver. but thank you for playing, and for the feedback. :)

Nice work with the storyteling, the audio and hitting the theme, definitely fun taking the perspective of the minions! I killed the hero about 12 times before I realized I was doing it wrong lolol, must have missed that part in the tutorial :P

I  never *explicitly* told you (the player) that's what you had to do, but I dropped a bunch of hints to that fact.  But thank you for playing. :) glad you enjoyed it.

Very cool and interesting take on the theme. Challenging bit all the different reasons. I kept panicking and switching to the wrong minion. I guess if I had a gamepad it be easier to switch mainly because using the same hand to move and switch was a little challenging - though I suppose I could've tested if the arrows work - lol. Love the simplicity yet challenging nature of it and it has humor! :D. Nice work!

Developer

Thanks for playing. I am currently struggling with getting the WebGL version to find controllers, but the dl version supports it. and yeah, I'll be uploading an easier version after the jam ends, And I'll be sure to add arrow support for movement. Thank you :)

I really like the mechanic of controlling the minions to let the player win. It's like reverse tower defense. And the idea that an evil minion is so strapped for cash that he allows a hero to "win" is hilarious. Good job!

Developer

Haha, I'm glad you enjoyed the game. thank you for playing. :)

very cool idea! and good execution! a bit too hard though ):

Developer

Thanks for playing my game. :)

I love the silly dialogues and the sound effects that makes it sound like they are aggressively smashing keyboards at each other. As for the gameplay, it started off super simple but quickly got super difficult as you had to frantically switch between minions to stop them from shooting at the hero. It was a bit too hard for me and ended up getting stuck on level 4.

Developer(+1)

yeah, level 4 ended up being too much and I already am working on a version where level 4 is shorter and more evenly paced like the rest of the levels. Thank you for playing, and for the feedback. :)
