  • A fork in the road is not technically a crossroad The RUN mechanic was a bit far fetched (and as the enemies got faster, it was more difficult to actually use the items around the room, thus many of my characters died) Not a bad game, and certainly one of the better put together ones of the jam, but not a great game. Lots of horror tropes that make no sense for the characters (nuns don't act that way, etc) How do you group adopt an adult??

Hey Starmage I hope 2.5 is the right version of the game to give feedback too as that's the only version I could find to download, if not never mind I'll still write my feedback of that version here. Wow the game really shocked me a lot and I enjoyed where there were a few plot twists where you choice to twist and turn the situation, it was really nice how you choice to play out the whole story for a horror genre game. I was expecting either the girl was innocent or had something like maybe a multiple personality issue (was not too far off) and I was expecting to play as just her and that possibly one or more of the other people were secretly the bad guy, but I actually prefer how you chose the story direction to go with the demons being the bad guys. I was surprised a number of times, but it was fun playing as different characters. I cheated a little  bit, it was nice of you to give us save points on each chapter thanks for that, so I failed on two characters but press F5 and did there chapter again, so I did get the A ending not sure if it's the best or the next best but I got it but I cheated a little. The mapping was really excellent I already saw that from your screenshots but it was all really well done. I find that quite amazing actually and some of the maps were so beautiful during the introduction. The presentation was also nice. Gameplay wise usually in the horror games I played you just have to keep running so it was nice here that you twisted that too and you could actually fight back, I liked that. Overall it was really fun. I purposely had to play in daylight though! My other thoughts was that it's nice the characters had different strength and weaknesses that helped them show different personalities, I enjoyed how they developed through the plot and circumstances. Some humour which was nice to see too. I'm not sure if I'm playing a later version and that's why, but if this much content was the game jam version then that's quite impressive just how much is in this game in about 2 weeks or less. Really good job on that! Oh and there was one bug I noticed, when using painkillers as any character it would show the description of the little girl in the text below there HP, or I think that happened from memory. Good luck with what you do next! : )

Hello Boos405 and wow! Thank you so much for this detailed and wonderful review! <3 ^_^ It means so much to me that you enjoyed the game's horror, story and twists! :D ^^ And yep, Ending A is indeed the best ending! <3 The version you have played is also the very same versions that the judges have played! ;) So it's okay. But I do plan to make a big update for the game once the game-jam's voting and judging period is over. <3 ^_^ Again, thank you so much for your kind words, Boos405! It means a lot that you had fun! <3 ^_^

Aww, thank you so much Boos405! ^_^ Your kind words mean a lot! :D <3 Tbh, it was indeed quite challenging to cram all plot points in under 2 weeks, but it was a very fun game jam to participate in and gave me a lot to learn!! <3 Wishing you the best as well!

When I downloaded this game, I was thinking it was going to be some ho-hum game, maybe a visual novel with some Christian dogma that would make me facepalm here and there. I clearly forgot who made this game.

This game is impressive right from the start, with its custom splash screen, title screen, and highly-detailed intro cutscene. One thing I noted throughout my playthrough was the dedication to "atmosphere:" there is extensive use of lighting, tinting, environmental sound effects (that even change based on where the player is) and even stepping sounds. I was expecting the footstep sounds to get on my nerves, but they actually aren't that bad and change depending on where the player is moving.

Also noteworthy is how much variety is here! I was about to call it a visual novel when gears switched and found myself fighting for my characters' lives! I was surprised that the "chase" sections were actually more like (rather unique) battles. I'm not sure how else to call them, but I started off expecting to be running through the monastery rather than running to various points and interacting with various parts of the room. Not the biggest deal, but one of my few criticisms of the game. The other scenarios were interesting and kept the game feeling fresh.

Speaking of criticisms:

  • It's possible to use a painkiller after a character dies
  • Having to prepare to use a painkiller just to check my character's HP was annoying
  • Why do we have to turn the flashlight on? Why not have it on by default?
  • There are points in Meadow's sequence and the next character's (Viktor, I think) where it's not clear where to go next.
  • The location of Meadow's room key was the biggest problem for me: there is nothing to indicate where it is! I get that it's supposed to be completely crazy, but I didn't realize that the entrance to the room (not saying which to prevent spoilers) was even there due to the way the tiles were set up, and nothing in the previous tours of the monastery brought me to that room.

These criticisms are pretty minor and didn't overshadow the good qualities of this game. In fact, it's pretty impressive that these are the only negative things I can say about a game that was made in 2 weeks and has this level of polish!

Another thing I liked about this game was the multiple endings and how they were led up to. I loved how a character's death doesn't result in a game over, but rather influences the fates of other characters and ultimately the ending! It's a concept that I have been trying to integrate into my own games, and I'll definitely draw inspiration from this experience.

In summary: This game was amazing from start to finish and I look forward to future productions!

Hello KV_Kingdom! And wow! Thank you so much for playing the game and for your very detailed feedback! :D <3 Your kind words mean a lot and I'm happy you enjoyed the game! :) You made such valid criticisms as well for improvement! :D I'll also try to make that key room more see-able in future updates. ^_^ The flash-light, I will also try to have that turned on by default for the new update after this game jam is over! <3 Once again, thanks so much for playing the game, KV_Kingdom! I'm really happy you liked the atmosphere and gameplay so far! :D <3

I just played Inner Sanctum and it was... Wow! Quite something actually. In the right way. The first thing that comes to my mind is: beautiful. This game is beautiful. And not only from a graphical point of view. The scares are effective and the good ending brings so much satisfaction. There was such passion put into this game. I wouldn't be surprised if your game ended up among the first places of the game jam.

Now, the praises are nice and all. But now, I'll talk about what I noticed that was... less good so we can really have constructive criticism here. Don't worry, your game is so good I'll mostly be nitpicking here. So like you say: "Without further ado..."

- The game has not (or not much) been optimized for mouse play. For evidence: the fountain at the entrance. For some reason, when the ME kicks in (or out), the character suddenly stops in her track. Two reasons I think why it happened. It's either an event on the ground or you used a plugin to give an event to the fountain with a ranged effect. Both ways to go are not bad per se, but they mess up with mouse movements. My way to tackle this problem is to have the game keep track of the player's X and Y position and have a parallel event that takes care of position related events where we don't want the character's movements to be stopped abruptly. Another way to prevent this is to use a plugin to deactivate the possibility to control the character with the mouse.

- Sometimes, when entering a room, the ambient light didn't load fully. This is minor, but this can make a player out of his experience. To solve this problem, you can hide the screen to the player, just to let the time to the game to load the light, then you reveal it after the game have loaded the effect behind the scene.

- Speaking of the ambient light, sometimes it isn't centered or it seems like it's cut abruptly and it does not really look good to me when that happens. (Also, there is a little problem on one of the trees at the left garden.

- Now I have a question what is the point of letting the player tuning the flashlight on and off? If there were a setback to the flashlight's use, I'd understand, but you get no penalty for using it. Why would you ever turn your flashlight off except for the challenge? Yeah, maybe for the challenge for really those who want to test their knowledge of the game, maybe?

- At one point with Henry, you get to gain "Success Points". It is never introduced anywhere else in the game so I kept playing not understanding what it was. It seems it is a mechanic proper to Henry, but again it's not explained.

- Speaking of Henry, I thought it was the least developed of all. His relationship with his family could have come sooner to really sell the possibility Henry might hate them.

- With a simple plugin, you can certainly hide the useless MP bar. I suggest to check how the other plugins are made so you can make your own. This is what I ended up doing to hide the Level info from the Status Window of my game.

Now, I'm done. Thanks a lot for your participation. Again, it is a beautiful and competent game. I wish you a lot of success with it.

Good luck for the game jam!

Hello PikaMew and wooow! ^_^ Thank you so much for playing the game! And your kind words mean a lot! Even though the game jam has a lot of entries that are beautifully made, it is such an honor to hear you say those! 😊✨

You made such great valid feedback too that I can improve upon the game after this gamejam is done soon! :D The mouse detection is indeed a problem, now that I test it! x(( Sadly I never play with the mouse when I play MV/MZ games, so you're right about disabling mouse feature. And yes, I also the way the lighting is late to come out is also a weird one for me, as they are custom move routes with change additive or something. xD I also really wanted to remove the MP bar and level, so your suggestion with a plugin to remove them is great! ^_^ Thank you so much once again for playing and giving such amazing feedback, PikeMew! I really appreciate it! 😍❤️✨👍

Thank you so much as well for participating with your entry! For it was something fun and special as well! Best wishes!! 😊✨

Such beautiful and somewhat mystical themed mapping for the RTP Starmage! I will give it a go when I can get the time.

Had a chance to play a bit of this. Really great design, mapping and aesthetics. Very well polished. I'm not a big fan of the Rpgmaker horror game type, but this has been fun and has a lot of neat ideas like the different character's strengths and weaknesses. Plan to finish it when I have time!

Thank you so much for playing Rubescen! ^_^ <3 So happy to hear your thoughts! :D ^^
