Hello, this game demo is pretty neato.  I know that AI art is despised and all that, but the renders and the core mechanics are pretty solid.  I would like to know if you plan on adding more passive enemies, like the Trash Panda, for safer fetish grinding?  Also would it be possible to put the exp requirement for the next level of a fetish on the item token or under Status?  Please and thank you.

Developer(+3)

Hi there,
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated!
Yes, there will be more enemies in the future that don't use violence at all, so look forward to that.
I like the EXP requirement idea, and I'll see if I can fit it into one of the upcoming builds.

So I've noted a strange oversight or bug. The sweatband item says that it reduces the stamina cost to escape from 50 to 40, which doesn't seem to be true.  I thought that it was some strange, "It costs 40.2 stamina now, and as a dehydrated boi, your 40 stamina isn't enough." But then I improved my stamina max while dehydrated to 46, and it is still greyed out.   I understand that it is my fault for not managing my hydration properly because whenever a woman shows up I fold like laundry, but if combat starts at max distance, I should be able to nope out with a full stamina bar and the sweatband.

Side note, I have ~22-23 hours (Save file says 18:15:32, but I know I've lost hours to resets and game-overs,) and am enjoying  all content so far.  I think it would be neat if a future build if you could "invite" more former foes to laze at the home/base.  Also it would be neat if with my favorite girl failure, Trash Panda, had an alt. pose/scene.  The way I'm thinking is that you would eat any food, she notices and asks for you to share, rewarding you with the choice of a random low tier item/credits (Besides food,) or for her to sit on your face.

Other note about fetishes: I surprised that I haven't seen a single "Show Feet/Toe Beans" request since other fetish RPG's I've played have a foot fetish, even if in those games it is under cooked.  Personally I would like to see an out there fetish like, "Floral fauna," or " Animate Inanimate," but I'm satisfied with the current pool for the entity types.

I think inviting enemies to the base to hang out is a great idea! It would be an opportunity to write at least a few sex scenes that are more explicitly consensual for the mc. It'd probably too much work to do for every enemy, but it could definitely lead to some pretty cute scenes.
Especially if we had the option to invite a couple different enemies over when the mc gets them pregnant. Inviting them over to get pampered by their baby daddy could make for some super cute scenes!

I'd also like to second flora fauna, lots of ways to have good scenes involving plant enemies.

Developer(+2)

Thank you for the in-depth feedback!
You're right about the sweatband. I just did some more testing, and it seems to not be working correctly. It'll hopefully be fixed for the next hotfix, so thank you for pointing it out.

As for additional scenes/content for existing characters, this is planned, and will likely be poll-based on my SubscribeStar.

(1 edit)

No problems when it comes to feed back, I am more than willing to point some things out when I find them.  I am not the type of guy to play as a beta tester, but I will let you...  I just remembered a visual bug.

So going down (as in defeated, but not game-overed) the first few times has text and a get up animation. I don't know when it happened for me or why, but for some reason after going down enough times, the game no longer gives the text about it being a close call, and will swap between the overworld sprites of laying down on stomach and back while blinking in and out of existence. You can move around the overworld "normally," and it will fix after either entering into a new combat, or entering a new area.  Now the bug isn't a, "Oh no, I can't play anymore," but it is definitely something.

Again, I am not a beta tester, I will simply play game and post things that I think are wrong or would improve quality of life... And maybe drop a fetish or two as suggestions.

*edit, proof of what I mean. Again, unsure when or how it is happening, but it be happening.

Wow that's wierd. Thankfully I've never had that happen to me so far.

Developer

That's a very strange bug.

It seems like the post-battle cleanup isn't running properly, which is bad. If you don't mind answering, when you say you 'going down enough times', do you mean you've been defeated by running out of HP multiple times? Did you have the 'Wounded' debuff when you were defeated?

I'm basically trying to figure out when this is going wrong, exactly. I've not had anyone else report this so far, so it must be a rare thing, unless nobody that has seen has thought to report it, as you have.

(1 edit)

I understand that the gif doesn't give details, so I'll explain it better. I go into battle after sleeping, which removes the Wounded debuff,  have the enemy beat the tar out of me, and would get the Wounded Debuff like normal but with the visual bug.  If I go get the snot beaten out of me again, I would game-over like normal.  I do recall using a trauma kit mid-battle while wounded long ago and it got rid of the debuff, but I don't remember if that was before or after the bug.   If this is somehow a very rare/ personalized bug and you can't replicate it to fix it, then I guess I got a funny copy of a otherwise great game.

Edit* If you'd like, I can share my save folder to you for the prepose of killing the bug and being able to study it so it doesn't happen to anyone else.

Developer

I've tried to re-create the same conditions to test, but it seems to be working fine, at least during testing. Do you recall what version of the demo you started with? Also, what version are you using right now?

I don't know if you can share files directly on Itch, but if you could share your saves, I'll definitely give them a look. Thanks for helping me with this, though!

I started with 0.1,0, and have downloaded each patch and imported saves properly. I THINK it might be because I hold either CTRL or ENTER to fast forward through the defeat dialog, and I know holding Enter causes animations / cut-scenes to fast forward in the over-world while Ctrl only skips text, but again, this is more guess work without actually recalling when/how it happened.

Current version I'm playing from: 0.1.2

Version the bug was first noticed with: 0.1.1

Rift pack included: Yes (Integrated to the game on 0.1.2)

Save folder shared through Google Drive

I hope this isn't digging too deep into your Dev time, and if you still can't figure out what is causing the bug, then I guess I got a more personal save file/ copy of a otherwise great game.

Developer

Thanks for taking the time to make this.

I'll look into it and see if I can figure out what's gone wrong.

Developer(+1)

Sorry this took so long to get back to you with!

I've done a bit of testing, and the only thing that I can see that would break this part of the post-battle event is if the switch for losing to the boss Liquidator is on.
However, the only way that switch should be on is if you lost to her while fighting her, through running out of HP, but that also should result in a Game Over.

I don't suppose you've been activating random switches through a save editor, have you? Not that there's anything wrong with that, I just need to know if it's something that can trigger accidentally as well.

Hmm, I remember losing to her, but it was through sex rather than Hp loss. I remember healing as often as I could during the fight between waiting and shifting around to find the position that she doesn't smash my skull in.

Thanks for looking into it this much though, and sorry if it has been robbing your development  time. Also, what is a save editor? (Joke, but I don't have one nor do I know how to use it.)

Developer(+1)

I've finally figured it out!

I accidentally set the loss switch for her to trigger regardless of whether it's by HP or sex loss. Another bug fixed!

Thanks so much for helping with this, as it was quite the glaring bug and could affect a lot of users.

Developer(+1)

Oh, almost forgot.

When the new patch comes out, be sure to return to the Safe House (1F) at least once. That'll turn the switch off and fix the post-battle sprite glitch.

Noticed that the M-110 Hunting rifle isn't giving any Marksman Exp...

Developer

Good spot, it was set to give Handgun EXP instead.

Another fix going into the patch, thanks to you!

Civil question: I like how night time in the game adds two new enemies for the street map, but do you think you'll add 1-2 entities to the small buildings/sewers that get put into the encounter pool at night?  Not demanding that you add it to the Westview, (though it would be nice for the free demo in a later version), but for the non-delves going forward?  When I wasn't super stacked to defend myself or heal, I would go from the base and try get to the delves from the sewer system, so I could see keeping the sewer free, but there is no reason to go into one of the neighbor's homes (outside of grinding Exp.)

Edit* At night, no reason to enter a house at night.

Developer(+1)

That's a good idea.

I'll see what I can do!

On the topic of fetish grinding/the fetish system in general, I'd really like to see some kind of system where you could allocate points to each fetish category to either make yourself more or less vulnerable to receiving stacks of it, all (except for your chosen weakness at the start) would be a neutral "0" at the start and work how they do currently, you can then remove points from a category (making yourself more vulnerable to receiving stacks of that category) to invest points into a different category (becoming more resistant to receiving stacks of that category).

So for example you could take points out of [fetish A], becoming +33% more vulnerable to stacks (you have 33% chance to get double the stacks each proc), and put the points into [fetish B], gaining a 33% chance to ignore stack applications of this category.

Effectively, this lets the player make fetishes they like less grindy, and also make it less likely for them to develop weaknesses to things they really just don't like.

You can also tie this in to difficulty options, lower difficulties gives you free points to invest and also makes resisted fetishes be able to decay slowly each day, higher difficulties make it so there is a long cd on reapplying points (so you can't just swap out stats for each dungeon all the time).

Completely unrelated but id really really really love if the Malo sleep interaction eventually gave you the option to just snuggle if you want. Maybe you could also wake up with a comfort buff of some sort.

I myself don't mind the grind, and if you want to speed up a few fetisihes you can go into the sim room and grind a girl. But I can see getting a fetish weakness so exp gain is faster, and a fetish blocker so a fetish develops even slower.  A way this could work would be something like holding the holy thighble, so anal vaginal and oral develop slowly, but thighs would skyrocket. Or a book on Monster Breeding, which would make it to where Furry, Scaily, and Robot give less exp, but Monster and impregnating go up.
This might be a pain to program and balance, so definitively up to Finchy.

(PS, Finchy has said that since there is a lot of demand for Romancing/being owned by the girls, it is a real possibility in a future update to do something with the free wife. I myself am looking forward to it, but I understand letting him cook.  Maybe it will be in 6-9 updates, only Finchy knows.)

I just realized that one of the Mob NPCs for the Parlor should be either a low succubus or an imp. This is mostly because their are only two enemies that are Demons, and once you beat them, they are gone. This way there is a natural way to develop the fetish without going to the Sim room.

I was playing Fear and Hunger 2 and died in a fake safe room (rip 2 hours, should've known that moldy bed was a trap) , and thought it would be a neat idea to add.
Basically the way it could be incorporated is a creepy safe room that has a bed, and all tiles besides a single tile where you interact with the bed are blue, but that tile next to bed is green.  Since it is a single tile, I doubt anyone would be able to get into combat since it is step based to trigger a fight, but the fact that the watch changes from blue to green should warn the player something is up.

Resting and relaxing won't do anything different, but trying to sleep would trigger an "ambush" like Mal0.  I'll leave the entity to your imagination, but I could see something like a ghost, sleep paralysis demon, a nightmare, or a living doll being the ambusher.  Maybe you'd get an item like with Mal0 that would allow them to follow you from the safe room to any other bed.

Also, if you want to take this idea and run it, you could easily add it into either a way later update or a delve.  Or don't, that's also a much easier option.

(+2)

Perhaps this kind of mechanic could be expanded to more of the game, and be rare enough to not get repetitive, but perhaps from time to time there could be slightly suspicious rest spots with a hidden "safety rating",  and the player could perhaps have some resources they can scavenge throughout the world that can be used to build/repair/secure areas (lets say a safe room has a window that makes it vulnerable to intrusion (a low risk "safety rating" room), you can spend some boards and nails to board it up (it becomes a fully secure "safety rating" room), this takes resources and a unit of time to do, you can also spend time to remove the boards to get your resources back).

Lets say you travel to the forest to forage for some renewable resources, a major downside of the woods is that secure safehouses are practically non-existent, you can find some campsites and maybe even a cave but you're extremely vulnerable to intrusion being out in the wilderness in a tent, or likely entering the dwelling of a bear girl with the cave.

I have a pretty expansive concept for forest region that I've been cooking up, I might make a post about it in the future.

I'd love to see what you're cooking with the forest area idea.

Just remember that Finchy is the chef, and that they can either incorporate your suggestion or ignore it.  With the exception of a romance update, I'd like to treat my ideas as small things that realistically shouldn't take too much effort to do.  I think without a doubt the romance update will be nice, but it might come out (v.0.4.7), and we are just about to get (v.0.1.5).

Michelin Star Chef if they are a chef, this game is awesome.

Also, how do you see when the next update comes out? I'm newer to Itch. What timeframe would 'Just about' be.

Subscribestar is where Finchy posts weekly updates, and the timeframe set is around end of month for the update.  Itch.io will have the free updates while Substar has the paid updates, and I'm unsure how Finchy plans on doing the updates between free and paid.  It might be "dead" as far as the free version goes once v.0.1.5 comes out, might be staggered  (paid gets every update from v.0.1.5 to v.0.2.5, while it jumps from v.0.1.5 to v.0.2.5 for free), or the free gets a steady update string that is 5 version behind paid.

I myself have pledged some cash to Finchy, so I'm using Itch.io as a public board for ideas since (as far as I know) Substar doesn't let people post public ideas that everyone can look at, it is just dm between Finchy and you, and I don't know how to dm someone ideas. Plus since the ideas are public, a simple thumbs up or down can allow others to convey that the posts idea is worth doing, or that it's cringe.

Thanks!

Love the Parlor, already have more than 700 service Exp, and while impregnating my #1 fan/wife, it hit me.  What if there was an addiction mechanism?

My thoughts on how it would work would be certain things would build a hidden Exp bar for the addiction (if possible, using the players fetish level as an Exp multiplier), and once you get addicted you need to interact with the girl who gave it.  For instance, the breast milk from the demon milf  might cause addiction, and once you get addicted and spend a couple segments of time since last consumption, your endurance and strength might get weaker. The longer you go without ingesting/ getting a top off, the worse it gets until you "quit" cold turkey.

This will both incentives and disinterested some interaction, because some people will avoid getting a debuff, while some might take it as an extra challenge. I myself wouldn't mind being hooked on serving a girl, especially if my favorite fan drugged me through either hypothetical kisses or sweat.

(+3)

Suggestion to add WASD controls to the game.

(+3)

2 things.)

1.) Is there any plans for enemies that kiss the player into submission? Like they grab, then make out till you cum.

2.) Any plans to find an item that would be given to Catalog for either a ton of credits or an unlock-able sex scene?

(+4)

So I know the idea of the Parlor is quick NPCs to crank out, but what if an NPC were to instead of paying you while working the hole they give a note that adds them to the game? Like "meet me at X house on Y street, in area Z" and they become an enemy to encounter, only after getting the note.

Of course, after a poll/enough requests.

Developer(+4)

That might be a good way to add additional scenes to popular characters, or at least at more content to the Parlour itself, when I get around to it. Thanks for the suggestion!

Any chance the control node could have the option to deactivate all other nodes?

Potato chips at Arianna's Parlour vending machine cost the same as Beef jerky with better stats. Might as well make them 2 Love coins per unit.
