This game has an interesting core mechanic. I'm not sure where the gameplay is heading in terms of combat vs puzzle. When playing I found myself losing track of the wizard because he seemed so irrelevant to the game as the rats do basically everything interesting. Maybe you could incorporate some actions that the wizard must take so the player has to control both, or make the enemies have ranged attacks that target the wizard so they constantly have to keep moving.
interesting and unique game mechanic.
cool concept, it was pretty much a prototype, the controls was too glitchy the rats weren't going where I want to go, but even so a solid game idea and a submission, congrats!
Fun concept! A little glitchy with the way the rats move to the cursor; they could get stuck and stop following, but overall, very nice.
It's a neat concept! Using the rats to move the rocks didn't feel solid, and if I tried to walk through I could get stuck between rocks. If there's sound I wasn't getting it as far as the web version is concerned. Felt neat to have a horde of mice though.
I've never played a game like this before and I really enjoyed the experience. Thanks for making it!
Nice idea, kinda glitchy though and really needs something to force some kind of strategy. Oh, and when I died the screen just went black with no options.
Well that's interesting with the black screen. There should be a Game Over screen if you happen to die so you can try again. I'll have to look into it.
This game was really interesting! Although I wish there was more content, the concept was really good! I think an in game tutorial would really help, not just a help button on the menu. My rats would get stuck in the wall sometimes, and they were pretty dumb lol. Overall, it was enjoyable, and I think it just needs some good polish!
Really interesting horde control mechanic idea. Sound was either not working, or does not work in the browser version. Rat AI needs work. Tutorial animated sprites are perhaps more confusing than helpful, but the text description solved that issue. But otherwise very unique!
Yeah, I wasn't sure how useful the controls page would be. I had limited space and the text in Gamemaker's sprite editor didn't match not did it look readable. I also wasn't sure how to go about making scrollable text boxes either.
Being pressed for time, there are no sounds currently so you didn't miss anything there.
this is an awesome concept, with more time could lead to some really awesome puzzles and gameplay! all the jittering was a bit stressful lol but the feeling of controlling the rats is such a great mechanic. great work.
I like the concept, it's fun moving the rats around everywhere! In terms of gameplay, I think it would be more challenging if you couldn't spawn a bunch of rats from the holes, maybe slowly give the player more rats to work with? I also wasn't too sure how having more rats helped me, so maybe some clarity on that would be helpful too. Otherwise, I like the level design! It's simple but expandable which is great for a jam game, and I liked how you could push around objects with the rats which felt powerful, great job!
Yeah, that last room was supposed to be a boss room, but I had to cut it for time. The main idea was to get up to like 100 rats by the end of the game for the boss and yes limiting how much you could get at various points so it wasn't always infinite. Some of the enemies were also supposed to be able to tear through the rats limiting numbers to give extra challenge.
hey the game is soo good like the idea is soo unique man. 5 stars in all
The concept of having a rat army is a great idea and I hope you expand on this more :)
I had team issues. This was all I could manage in the 1.5-2 weeks I had left after it was sorted out. I definitely had more ideas for what could be done with the rats like bosses and other puzzle types. Might come back to this in the coming months to build it out a bit more.
The art style is lovely
I wish I could take more credit for that, but most of the art is from a free asset pack from Craftpix.net. I did have to modify a couple sprites to get what I needed though, like the rathole. I did piece together the help menu animation though, with the help of Gamemaker's onion skinning tool.
You put a lot of effort into this whether it is your art or not
I do love swarms of things
