The creators must be notified whenever their indexing changes, so they can take actions. Right now it happens silently and keeps you second-guessing

Yep. That is a real thing now, and it’s very sad. Probably you are trying to do a good thing and keep itch a safe place, but the outcome is what it is - slop and scam is winning while passionate developers are being punished.

It's been 75 days since I uploaded my game to itch.io, and the page still hasn't been indexed. As far as I understand, this is a common issue. I don't quite understand why I need to contact customer support just to make my game accessible to other users.

Your page has been reviewed and is eligible for indexing.

Notification about being deindexed will be good. You never know the reason and if it happening to your game. Happened to one of my game being deindexed and my support tickets was ghosted.

Oh really, I uploaded my game over a month ago, but it still hasn't been indexed. I don't understand what I did wrong :(

You spammed your game into a bunch of jams. Don’t do that, you will be banned from indexing https://itch.io/docs/creators/quality-guidelines#game-jams/do-not-add-your-game-to-unrelated-jams-for-promotion

Hello, my games seem to have been deindexed. The CTR has dropped significantly, and the games are no longer appearing in search results. Could you please help me understand what might be causing this issue? I really love this platform and would appreciate any guidance.

Your game is indexed, and next time please make your own topic! I almost missed your post.

Hello. Please help me with the indexing issue with my game. It hasn't shown up in the Itch search for over 11 days. I sent a ticket by email, but unfortunately, I still haven't received a response. I also uploaded a post on this topic five days ago, which still hasn't been reviewed or published.

Yes, like the FAQ says, it takes time. And the rules of this category tell you what to do if support doesn’t fix your issue after a while.

I read the game's publishing documentation several times, then submitted my first ticket 12 days ago. Here's its number: 372249. Unfortunately, I still haven't received a response.

I’ve let our admins know about your ticket.

Thanks you! ❤️

I checked it alread deindex, not showing on search

Moderator

Yes, as explained in the FAQs, that can happen when you make certain changes to the game page.

Sorry to ask, but if I update my game, will it be indexed again? I’m planning to update my game and would like to know.

Moderator

I don’t know. Please use your game page normally, promote it, and don’t worry about being indexed.

A lot of people are complaining about gettind deindexed everytime they update their game page.
You can try using butler to update your game. With butler you don't need to manually update your game page for a new update. I haven't had the chance to try this yet, since my game is currently not indexed . So I have no idea if this works.

I agree! It's really hard to wait for indexing. I published the game over 10 days ago and still can't find it in search. It's sad to realize that many projects could also encounter this error.

Also, my post, which touched on the same topic, has been pending review for 4 days now.

My game (https://eggplantdevelopment.itch.io/irre) has been deindexed 6-7 times already. The current deindex phase has already lasted 19 days!
Each time I have to open multiple tickets and have to beg for a manual review. I've also created a seperate topic about this issue to no affect.

I do not see in any way, how a game with over 50 overwhelimingly positive reviews, still needs to be manually reviewed after each update.
This does not make the platform any saver, it just makes publishing here frustrating.
Updating your game and engaging with the platform should be rewarded, not punished!

Unfortunately it's spammers and scammers ruining the internet per usual. I'm not happy all my games get quarantined but they're the only ones to be angry against.
