How does your game fit the theme?
The game is set in a dungeon in a dungeon in a dungeon. The player character's main goal is to escape this dungeon, thus getting "outside the box".

It's also quite an out of the box idea for a game too.

Great game, I enjoyed building my own strategy with the rougelike aspects.

You really did get me there, I thought the short was about to loop.

Incredibly creative idea and a great and polished execution, as well as being something I haven't really seen before. It's also great to see a fellow roguelike/lite within the game jam.

really nice! fun game. I liked the art a lot

Really cool art glad to see pixel art being pushed so far. Base speed definitely needs an increase though

First of all, incredibly well done on the art, this game looks amazing. Secondly, the idea is really cool, and a dungeon crawler strategy game like this is a sick concept, though I did find it got frustrating somewhat quickly when you're at the whims of luck for the upgrades and things move really slowly starting off. I did enjoy my time with it, and clawing my way through the dungeon by strategically placing caltrops felt really good.

This game is really good and it has so much potential!! The Concept is great! the art is amazing! The rogue-like Elements are super well done! But there are a few things that do gob down the game for me.
The movement is slow which isnt a bad thing at first! But when you die you have to start all the way back at the beginning. So before you can try again you need to go through the first level all over again everytime. which isn't too long it just makes it a tedious.

Another thing that could be nice is maybe a indicator on where the enemies are going to go. after a lot of dying I realized that the enemies have movement patterns and that they don't just move randomly. But once i figured that out the game made more sense! Having the player understand that Enemies have a set movement pattern on where there gonna go would be very helpful.

One thing i do really like a lot is being able to make build your toolkit exactly how you want! like If i wanna have utility caltrops i can! If i need more Damage Caltrops once i level up, i can! If i wanna raise my Speed because i wanna move faster, i can! This is really great game design and you guys utilized it perfectly!

overall really great game i cannot wit for a full game release!

I love the game but like it is such a missed opportunity to call it CATTROPS

Game was really well made, only issue would be full reset on death/no checkpoints, and how slow it is. I think a fast-forward button would seriously boost this game by a LOT. Otherwise great game  stunning art!

Very cool! seems pretty polished and overall a finished game, love the cutscenes but i wan't able to go past level 2, i kinda suck. anyway great game, congratulations!

This is super cool! the movement was slow and kinda bugged me but i forgot that right away because the graphics and stuff were so cool! the opening cutscene was incredible and the concept and gameplay loop are really creative and original. 4-5 stars across the board!

Really great and polished game! I have a hard time with patience so the beginning was a little slow for me, but seriously an amazing game!

Dude, some of the vfx here were SO GOOD. i literally wrote a note to make sure i told you lol I'm super impressed with this game ngl could totally see it being a steam game

The art and concept are really cool! The retro inspired vibes were on point! The game was a little difficult at first but once I became more patient and I learned a thing or two I was actually progressing through the dungeon! I think the base movement felt a little too slow and the inability to turn while adding a lot of strategy made the game feel clunkier than it needed to. Overall though I loved the game and would not mind a fully expanded version you alluded to in your short!

The art style, the music and the sound effects were amazing!! I didn't quite get the gameplay, but I loved the cat and the overall vibe.

This is an amazing one, with a really good game loop and gorgeous art style and awesome music, I don't have a lot of criticism to give here other than the player might be a bit slow, making restart a run feel tedious at times, other than that this is a great submission and I look forward for the finished game!

I love the music! Also just a big rouge like fan. However I understand why you did this but the movement is a bit annoying. Don't know off the top of my head how I would do it though. Still fun game I enjoyed the vibe!

Developer

I'm glad you like the music! There's actually 2 unused boss tracks that are probably the best tracks I made for the game but didn't make it in since we didn't have time to add bosses. As for the movement, I figured it'd be annoying, and it was actually originally even slower, but I guess I'll need to rebalance the speed of everything at some point if it's still too slow now lol.

That's so cool! Funny enough I actually have a "Uh Oh you are in danger" music in my game and I just realized now that I miss spelled a variable and now it wont play at all. Which makes me really sad. so ironically you are not alone in having unused music... however my reason is a bit dumber lol.
