This felt a little high-concept at first glance, but the way you exploded the prompt and worked in the biomatons, all the critters, Prime Directives, NPCs, and all of it locking into the segments... I'd imagine taking a loooong multi-session stroll through each and I bet it would be a lot of bug-splattering fun. Seemed like some stealth Bionicle themes popping up too... I like and I'll probably try it out (but i'll probably have to image invert before I print it, I'm not made of toner money)!
Printer friendly version is coming, I just wanted to leave it as-is while the voting was going on.
Thank you so much! it was a big prompt to fill out in six pages and I agree it's probably more of a mini-campaign than a single session.
Takes a standard FIST affair and packs it full of interesting characters, grotesque locations and challenging enemies.
A really solid mission that crams a lot into 6 pages! Can easily see it being run in an alternate assembly where the players are instead stuck in the jungle, or on the moon, or even in the fractal zone - so many options. Really easy to run, can see it being a great introduction to FIST and its character flexibility.
I love how the Prime Directive dynamic is overlayed - really makes the Island a character in and off itself. Mixed with the NPC motivations, it's a really inspiring sandbox!
okay loose thoughts -
I really enjoy the mission reward system - specific bonuses tied to the survival of specific npcs.
The roll tracking system is neat. Actually, I really like the interplay of the systems here:
Only thoughts - the final fight, it seems that the boss is weaker if the island has succeeded at accomplishing prime directives, and stronger if you've rescued npcs. On one hand, may seem counterintuitive if the island is attempting these directives in order to become stronger. On the other hand, it's a pretty elegant adaptive difficulty setup - and if the players are struggling midgame, a chance to kick ass in the boss fight feels good :)
really really cool. great critter design.
quick note wyn - text looks cut off at the bottom of page 3!
Thank you! fixed page 3 now :)
This is a nice mission, I really like all the different Biomatons that can appear, and the cast of NPCs that playes will have to deal with.
While it looks pretty cool, I did find the red and green text quite hard to read - it might be worth making a black and white version for accessibility and home printing?
Thank you!
I will definitely be making a printer-friendly version later on, I simply ran out of time during the submission period (because I took a week's holiday towards the end).
