Dave is my spirit animal
I enjoyed the atmosphere of the game. The controls felt precise, which for me is a must on platformer games. Nice work!
The meat platforms reminded me of classic risk of rain! Very cool atmosphere!
A very cool experience!
The player control is very smooth and intuitive.
The map design felt very real for a backrooms-estique game, like some paths just NOT having a way back, so falling down may not kill you, but you sure won't survive either.
I really like the sound design and would have enjoyed the music to keep playing between restarts!
Not sure what is the cause of this, but the pixel art was glitching around a bit when going up and down.
Restarting without having to use the mouse would have rounded the experience, because you don't need the mouse for any of the other aspects of the game.
All in all, while short - which isn't bad - it's polished and complete. That's what counts!
Fantastic job! The pixel art came out superb!
Just one thing: It’s not a critique, just an opinion, but IMHO, the background could be a little bit darker and mainly a little bit colder in terms of color (yeah, it’s a meat world haha, but that would help create contrast to improve visibility when in motion. It’s a common technique to separate the background without really changing the color too much — for example, making a gradient/dithering (10% to 20% of the total vertical area) from a warm tone (reddish) to a slightly cooler one, maybe near magenta).
But overall, the visuals are stunning and nostalgic, really, a GREAT good job in pixel art o/
MEAT MEAT MEAT!!!! that aside, really strong visually. The only thing I would have asked for was some checkpoints because I am trash at platformers and kept dying, but that is more of a me problem.
Glad I came back to this! I wish there was a checkpoint system, but I got through to the end regardless! I love Dave. I appreciate the differentiation in the jump SFX, hearing the same noise over and over would've gotten really old, and a lot of people in jams overlook that aspect. As a big fan of Mystery Flesh Pit National Park, I loved this a lot!
Glad you got this running, really fun atmosphere in this game. Controllers were simple but worked really well and a good amount of challenge. I would have really liked a checkpoint or more checkpoints after deaths. Either way really good game, great job!
The game was relatively shorter than what i wanted, the goal was you explore a level, inspect a few things, and then take a portal to a new one, where each world was a checkpoint. College and sickness kinda took up most my time lol. Thanks for the comments!
Still was a lot of fun, good job!
i really like ! this is a strange game, good job :)
Nice little platformer, definitely in a strange place. Congrats!
Hey I tried running the game and couldn't get it to run, got this error message.
Hey, thanks for the comment. This is my first time uploading a game to itch.io, so I have no idea what exactly needed to be uploaded. Will be trying to fix it shortly
No problem, best of luck, let me know if you get it up and running and I'll try it
It should be up and running now!
Should be fixed now!
