How does the game fit the theme?
It is an unusual setting. You explore a level that you build yourself tile by tile. The outcome can be unpredictable and some advantages can cause quite the chaos.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
The background music is from freesounds.org (by BloodPixelHero) and the sound effects are from the 400 sounds pack by Chequered Ink

How many people worked on the game?

I love the gameplay mechanics and the overall experience.

This is a really cool concept, and I think it fits the theme mechanically, which most other games haven't done -- they've been more focused on strange or wacky assets.

I did find it brutally difficult having only one life before resetting the game 'XD.

Well done on the game!

The game fits the theme really well! You build the strange place, and the place affects everything. Well, almost everything. I would love to see how the different tiles would change the music or the graphics. Reaching the destination, though, was a little bit tricky. I still enjoyed it. Overall, a great game. Good job!

The idea was incredible. I had a really hard time actually working my way up, however, because the only way up I could really find that allowed me to move upwards was the two platforms that move up and down, and they took FOREVER to sync up and allow me to jump upwards. And then when I was finally towards the top, I fell and died. A checkpoint system might be nice for that, as well

The premise of this game is super interesting and I love how seamless it is to go between the board and the 2D part. Unfortunately I didn't really feel the platforming and strategy component really meshed well together. Since you can only place one piece per turn, being required to go back and forth on the same part of the level before you can make any real headway just to get to the next turn feels more like a time waster, and the platforming visuals, controls, and mechanics, while serviceable, aren't as interesting as the strategy part, making the action parts feel kind of boring. Getting unlockables for your jump definitely adds some variety and helps you get distance, as well as the opponent removing your cards on their turn, but if this idea were to be expanded, which I think has a lot of potential, the platforming mechanics could definitely use something to make the game stand out more and the level design of the individual cards could also be made more interesting than just floating tiles. As for theme, unfortunately Strange Place is a kind of presentation-intensive theme, so with the platforming assets being as basic as they are, even though it's totally understandable given that 1 person worked on it, doesn't really invoke much of a strange place.

Fun game, played a few times but couldn't get far, it's not very forgiving when you make a mistake

Really interesting concept. I died on the last jump before the end, and I don't think i'll ever emotionally recover.

Love this! I've seen this concept attempted a couple times in other, but I absolutely love the 3D board implementation. It's super smart and works incredibly well to help the player properly plan their route. The platforming felt good overall, and with some more polish you could have a really nice prototype on your hands. Great work!

Thanks for making this game!

Honestly surprised I've never seen this concept executed quite like this in a platformer the platform randomness kept every run feeling just different enough, and the enemy turns were a clever touch to help with this. The music was a perfect fit too, gave me serious retro/flash game nostalgia vibes, almost like Pitfall.

The controls felt great overall, and the rotating platforms were a nice highlight, especially the one that starts spinning fast. That got me once and I had a very real emotional response lol.

Yellow shorts. Enough said.

I want a mini-map so I can see myself falling 4 screens long!

Love the spin! Great idea, and it works so well. Only thing I didn't like is starting all over after each mistake. Could be skil issue, but for me, it's great game I am terrible at.  Controls could be little better, and I love how you handle physics - remind me how they did it in Celeste game. Great job, awesome game!

I really like the concept of this game! I am terrible at platforms but love the strategy of building your own map to move on. The random upgrades were a great addition (even when it reversed my controls). One thing I might add would be a little bit of a tutorial or a how to play sheet that explains how you complete a turn. I didn't realize you could run back and forth between the chairs and kept restarting thinking I was locked.

Really well done, congrats on an awesome jam entry!
