This game is super sick! You managed to make dashing feel really good and every mechanic and enemy uses it in an interesting way. The level design was also great and the way it ramps up made the experience feel very engaging and also satisfying to get to the end. You really nailed a simple-yet-fun mechanic and made something awesome with it!

Thanks for sharing! Rated and commented some feedback on your project!

The premise of this game is super interesting and I love how seamless it is to go between the board and the 2D part. Unfortunately I didn't really feel the platforming and strategy component really meshed well together. Since you can only place one piece per turn, being required to go back and forth on the same part of the level before you can make any real headway just to get to the next turn feels more like a time waster, and the platforming visuals, controls, and mechanics, while serviceable, aren't as interesting as the strategy part, making the action parts feel kind of boring. Getting unlockables for your jump definitely adds some variety and helps you get distance, as well as the opponent removing your cards on their turn, but if this idea were to be expanded, which I think has a lot of potential, the platforming mechanics could definitely use something to make the game stand out more and the level design of the individual cards could also be made more interesting than just floating tiles. As for theme, unfortunately Strange Place is a kind of presentation-intensive theme, so with the platforming assets being as basic as they are, even though it's totally understandable given that 1 person worked on it, doesn't really invoke much of a strange place.

It's super impressive that you were able to make a polished game with a cohesive art style and such a detailed environment in just one week! The concept of controlling a tube and trying to get a hang of its physics to navigate through obstacles definitely has a balance of frustration and satisfaction as you learn the controls. For what is clearly going for a rage game, I do think having some more consistent rules over how to control the player would have improved this game. It never clicked why pressing forward (W) made the idol flop to the side, and then holding backwards would then make him roll forward, and then holding forward would switch to making it roll in the opposite direction. For a physics based game, having the buttons not correspond to what you would expect to be realistic definitely makes the game harder to get into. It makes sense that you wouldn't want the player pressing forward and then flopping down in a position where they'd be forced to then rotate themselves, but there's probably a better way that could possibly involve additional keys. But once you get the hang of it, there's definitely potential here for an interesting game!

I would definitely love to see this finished! I really enjoyed the atmosphere and exploration of this one, and the deeper you go, the more intense the game got. There was one room that felt super claustrophobic with super intense audio that felt very visceral. I could only find one clue, but I might have to come back to this one to see the ending. Great job!

This was a really interesting concept, and I liked how the figures tied into the story. I definitely wish there was a bit more interaction with the portal (I kept trying to look for points where I could move away from the game while she was talking to see if there were hidden interactions or endings, but it became clear there were none. I also wish there were sound effects and a way to instantly fill the text box rather than having to watch it scroll, but the lack of audio really made the end of the game eerie, so it kind of added to the experience after a bit. Great job!

This is a super impressive game, with top notch presentation! I was super impressed with how layered the level was and how it expanded as you got upgrades. This is definitely one of the most polished jam games I've ever played, with amazing character designs, animations, and attention to detail!

Excellent game. Loved the music and the controls. I also enjoyed unlocking more of the map as I upgraded my stats as well, which made the game very replayable!

Great job! The premise and art style definitely made this game stick out, and I enjoyed how risk was utilized in choosing to do damage, sacrifice health, and dodge attacks. Getting stronger definitely felt good too, although I felt a bit betrayed when the hooded figure made me answer questions where the correct answer was having mercy, and then when I showed mercy to the final boss, I got punished for it, but I guess that's the ultimate risk it for the biscuit moment. I did enjoy the different choices you could make overall, and I played until I got 3 different endings, although I'm not sure if there are more. Overall, great job!

Admittedly, I'm not the most familiar with roulette rules, but it felt good to win, although once you start getting money and can place a lot of tokens on the board, the risk does go down, so at some point it felt more like a money generator, and once I got all the upgrades on the skill tree, which was pretty quickly, there wasn't much else to do in the game since you basically never lose at that point.

1st place winner here (72.1  sec, for now)! This game is AWESOME. I loved how biscuits were placed behind all the risky shortcuts, which made finding all the optimizations super satisfying. And the controls were a great blend of chaotic and tight which it made me want to keep playing to try to master them. Making it easy to fall off was frustrating at first, but at a high level you're really risking it for the biscuit to take those shortcuts, so it works in my opinion. Amazing art style and music as well! This is definitely my favorite game of the jam that I've played so far, and I'd love to see this expanded with more maps!

The game is cute, but I wish there was a bit more of an X factor to separate this from other infinite runners related to the risk.

The concept for this is very fun, and I love the art style! After a couple plays though, it didn't feel like there was much risk since I knew I could win if I just mashed punch and hid at the last second, since the other student had to be hidden at the same time as me, so it's not like they could punch either. I would love to see this expanded with more moves, maybe some that do more damage but take longer, so you can't do them at the last second and then hide. I'd also like to see a bit more juice on the punches to give them more impact.

I love the atmosphere, and once I realized you could stomp other frogs to compete for the eggs, it got more intense than I thought!  Although there didn't seem to be much strategy other than being able to stomp frogs, and with only a handful of potential moves, it didn't feel like I was really risking much or had any chance of losing.

Just played and rated!

Love the atmosphere! It feels genuinely creepy, but I was a little confused by the gameplay, and it didn't feel like interacting with the computer did anything nor was my goal clear, and after nothing jumpscared me or punished me for just sitting there, that was where I didn't really feel like playing anymore, so a bit more feedback would be nice.

I liked the vibe of this game, as well as the pixel art. The controls are definitely a bit finnicky, and I was there was better pacing between level 4 and 5. I was fairly entertained by the twists for most of the game, but level 5 was a bit too finicky to be fun, and being rewarded with a black screen kind of ended the game on a sour note.

Pretty interesting concept making your controls random. It definitely builds tension once you get a few levels in. I didn't find the snail to be as much of a threat as the timer, especially when the camera controls get messed with. Great job!

THAT LAST LEVEL WAS AMAZING. Not only is there a solid little puzzle game here, but once you start sprinkling in twist levels, it becomes this Warioware-esque experience where I was super excited to see what was next. My only critique is that I wish the controls were a little snappier, as it feels like there is a delay every time you move to a new space, which made it a bit confusing at first when you introduced the spikes. Overall, this is one of my favorites I've played so far!

I love the character designs, and for a 3D game, the presentation is pretty polished. As an endless game, though, I wish the feedback on the mechanics felt a little better. Hitting the enemies could have been a little punchier and things that require multiple hits didn't really make me feel like I was doing any damage to them, so catching the fish was a bit confusing. I also like how each character has a different attack, but overall it didn't feel like the rules of the game were constantly changing, even with the random level generation. Still, good work, and I love the music too!
