Welp it's been a year with no updates. RIP the project I suppose.

The ultimate character creator tool for the tiny tales collection! · By
Apologies for the lateness in responses. We realize the communication has been extremely lacking on our end, and we're sorry for that.
We've just made an update for 1.2 (and this subsequent devlog!), and we're studying an overhaul for 1.3 that streamlines this process. The software still needs to improve before we're confident with it, but half the battle is finding ways to mitigate our communication issues. We'll see what we can do in that regard.
Hey, no worries at all! We totally understand your position as a customer, and we'll work on ways to communicate better if something comes up. We have a fix for the preset color issues done as well, we just need to work on a problem on linux build, and we'll release a new version that finally addresses the major errors in 1.2!
Q: Can owners of the previous editor get a free copy of Character Generator EX?
A: Yes! We'll be offering a free crossgrade option. To claim your free download, you must own the original Character Generator in your itch.io library. Unfortunately, we cannot provide external solutions at this time for those that do not own the itch.io copy of the software. We apologize for the inconvenience.
I own the previous version how do i cross upgrade
Apologies for the lack of swift responses, the crossgrade page had a duration of exactly one year, and it ended up expiring. We've renewed it just now.
Apologies for the radio silence, and thank you very much for the concern! Life did get in the way, but we've also been extremely remiss in our communication. We've madethis devlog detailing some important things as well, some explanations and of course, news about the update!
It's great to see this back~.
So, I'll take the chance to make a small feature petition for the future, nothing immediate or particularly important, buit that would be neat
Being able to "Hide" the Body of the Characters, maybe some individual parts or part of them.
For example, let's say you're making a Character that is a Ghost.
Maybe their skin would be invisible, showing only their Hair and Eyes, or something like that.
Just a little button to turn it invisible, with everything else still in place, maybe make a single eye invisible too, the mouth too...
Would be nice, but probably nothing particularly important.
In any case, good luck with the development!
We can attempt to set up a system where you can control part opacity. or toggle its visibility? Of course, we cannot make any promises yet, as we need to figure out if the new color method will work nicely as we intend it to first, but I don't believe it's outside the realm of possibility if we take it into account from the start.
And thank you!
Definitely some good progress update, but it's still missing something - glasses! I hope glasses get added soon! :o
Also, feature request: Windowed mode! Applications taking up the entire screen make me irrationally uncomfortable.
Minor bug report: The scrollbar doesn't restrict itself to how long the list goes, and doesn't even default there, so it took me a bit to figure out the UI, because I had scrolled down in one menu, then in the next menu it defaulted to looking way below where any content existed.
We apologize for the late reply, but thank you so much for the feedback! Glasses are a great idea, actually, we can definitely look into it using the masks!
For windowed mode: Try Alt+Enter and see if it works for you. You can resize the window from there, as it's already a feature. Let us know if it doesn't work!
We'll investigate the scrollbar situation, thanks for letting us know!
Apologies for the late response! Currently, we export the sprites with the full walking animations since those are the compatible formats for RPG Maker, and we'd have to somehow output a secondary sheet. We provide the walk pose for those who may wish to use the sprite as a platformer character, but I can see the concern. In the current version of the editor, doing this could be quite the hassle as we'd have to re-export all the sheets, but we can study it as a possibility for the planned overhaul. Hope this response helps!
We completely understand the concerns, and we apologize for giving that impression again. On the holidays, we were busy working on our game, which is in a very critical phase. We're still working on it, so we've been sidetracked, but let us assure you that we're still here. If it helps, we also released a mini devlog!
I bought the 2025 Bundle Sale. While using Tiny Tales: Character Generator EX, the program works great, but I’ve encountered an issue with saving. When I save my custom character presets, everything seems to record correctly except for the 'currentColor' values. They all reset to 0, which results in my characters appearing completely white.
